I believe the 2014 PTQ season changes are a sign that there will be a MM2. One criticism of MM was that WoTC released it after the Modern PTQ season.
Sets like MM are normally released between the last part of the current block and the new Core set.
With the new PTQ schedule MM2 could be released and then immediately followed by a Modern PTQ season.

Back at the bar, when you thought we were getting all palsy-walsy, I was actually flipping through that sorry mind you call an organizer looking for dirt! You know what we call THAT? MIND-TAKING, BABY! ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES!
Fetches in M15 makes sense on so many levels. Remember many of these busted multi-color cards are leaving. And fetches are barely better than check lands with shocks. So from a standard format perspective a few months of fetches and shocks makes perfect sense with a block like Theros where we are supposedly getting worse lands than checks. Then sealed M15 right before Modern which is being priced out thanks to ~$30-$50+ fetches, um, yeah, ok, hello fetches!
they dont make sense because wizards stated, that they wont put "duals" into coresets anymore. because they like to have a full cycle of 10 in every block from now on.
so i dont expect any kind of dual or fetchland to be in m15.
Why do people keep beating that same ol dead horse again. Numerous times they've said that new players don't like to pay life for effects, so they'll never put them in core sets again (this is the reason we switched from the ping lands to checks)
Why people even believe that Thoughtseize, fetches, bob, etc. etc. would be in the core set is maddening. DO A LITTLE RESEARCH!!!!!!
They won't do the fetches, but black pays life in core sets.

This guy, would either eat up several turns worth of mana to get a slow permanent that relies on your already have some board presence (after wasting said mana), or dies without generating any advantage.
What is the format for the actual pro tours not just the qualifiers?

looking to play magic in the Albany, NY area? come on down to New York Sports @ Yankee Dugout. We do events almost every night of the week including our Sunday night standard. Check us out for a fun place to play.
They wanted Standard just as the changover happened, and when they had the most cards in the pool. (2 core sets and 2 full blocks.)
?? Um, not anymore. It now begins before Theros' second/third set AND the core set.
I'm seeing chatter from players speculating it's because of Fetches in M15. It would also allow more play with Dragon's Maze (gold cards) for three months (fetches + shocks) being that according to Wotc, Theros lands aren't going to be friendly with shocks and thus gold/tri-color much harder.
It's an instant speed 5/5 trampler for 4. Wtf do you people want seriously? It has applications in populate/ above the curve beats decks, or in Bant control/ flash. I seriously think anyone mad at this card for any reason other than losing an attacker to instant speed wurm, should go home and make their own awesome card game and leave the rest of us alone.
I asked Helene on twitter, and she replied that they wanted a Standard PTQ season right after the Standard PT. Also, the implication of Modern being in the Summer is that Modern PTQs will immediately follow the release of the next MM release.

They just said it wouldn't be as easy. Outside of Fetch+Shocks, Shocks+Check is the easiest 3+ color mana base, so even a step down form that is still pretty good.
Standard where it's been placed now is great for online players who like to preserve their bank roll and trade in and out of decks at the best times. Card prices peak around either side of the second expansion release of every block year. The summer standard season would force mtgo players to hang on to their cards until they've lost the majority of their value due to impending rotation. This is why Block constructed is a better investment than Standard, because you could play it all season and not see your cards depreciate. Now mtgo players who are not diehard Standard fans can play the format when it matters then cash out to pay for another format. Good move.
I would prefer two sealed PTQ seasons with just one expansion, which would mean 6x Fall Set and 6x Core Set, but I suppose they didn't want to have back to back sealed. Sealed and draft with an entire block is incredibly hard to master. The complexity grows exponentially(or maybe worse?), not linearly, because you are considering just about every card interacting with every other. The upside is that if you do figure out the set, you'll be rewarded by the increased frequency of mistakes and mis-evaluations by your opponents.
No modern till next summer eh wizards? giving me time to work on my education and cube I see. As well as plenty of time to get to L2. Guess its REL regular modern tournies from here on out :/

"Lucy Ricardo you have some splainning to do!!!!" I am totally confused at this season schedule and need some one who is a rocket scientist to explain it to me. From what i see the Journey into nix season is starting right around Dec 2013 to March 2014. Does this mean that Journey into nix is coming out in Dec 2013? Season 2 has M2015 does this mean that somewhere in between the two dates m15 is coming out? And are the other two set huey dewey coming out at their dates too?
Seasons and set times are never synced. The PTQ season for PT Theros ends on Monday, but Theros isn't out yet.
