Tenacious Dead ability into a keyword would be interesting on Hydras, or come to think of it, Heroes.
Immortal 2GG (when this creature dies, you may pay 2GG. If you do so, return it to the battlefield tapped under its owners control.)
Tenacious Dead keyword isn't as similar as it appears to regenerate. With the Tenacious ability, you can sacrifice it repeatedly provided you have enough mana. That seriously veers from the concept of "regeneration" and player's who don't realize this interaction are apt to get upset (ie sac Tenacious Dead to Blood Bairn 4 times..)
Has anyone considered Epic as a likely keyword? As for keywording abilities what about Ledgewalk? (Silhana Ledgewalker). The ability is quite awkward right now because the early versions didn't specify they could be blocked by reach which can cause quite a few cases of hard feelings.
Also, this would be a fairly good ability for Dragons if giving them flying just doesn't quite fit (which applies especially to green dragons)
I believe offering was mentioned before as the tweaked mechanic. Offering itself is pretty clunky but a tweaked version could easily be the God mechanic.
Phalanx fits the blocking theme as it was a defensive formation that also allowed for increased offensive power, and it was an actual Grecian tactic!
They wouldn't name another iteration of Bushido as Phalanx, though. Mark Rosewater has commented many times that the name Bushido was a mistake and that we would have seen Bushido again by now if it had a generic keyword (instead of a world-specific one). A reworked/reused Bushido mechanic in Theros could certainly be inspired by Phalanx, but the keyword would be something more generic and not inherently Greek.
When I hear a tweaked mechanic, I always think of Threshold. MaRo for years has said he wished they had designed it as "Threshold X" instead of making it static 7 cards.
It also fits a "growth pattern" for "leveling up" based on your graveyard. They could mechanically have "newthresh 4" and "newthresh 9" on the same cards, corresponding to.different abilities.
I await the newly fixed thresh.
@Bushido - I can see this being reworked for sure. One of my favorite mechanics. Still have my playset of foil 2 drops that hated the graveyard.

Looking at Rosewater's tumblr he specifically mentioned Bushido was good but the name lacked, so it might be a direct hint that we're getting a functional "reprint" of Bushido.

I can't believe no one has posted this yet, but isn't it plausible that Tabak is just messing with the person who asked the question? There's no guarantee 702.103 or whatever has even been assigned yet. There's also no guarantee it's in Theros.
I'm surprised there's no voice of skepticism in this thread yet. I think maybe we're jumping to conclusions based on a very loosely-interpreted answer.

We're currently at 702.101 and it has been confirmed that there are five mechanics total in Theros. One of those is a returning mechanic. Another is a tweaked version on an older mechanic. It is possible that there is just one keyword ability in Theros (the rest being ability words and/or keyword actions), but it's more likely that of the five at least two are keyword abilities.
How about the rework for regenerate? They've historically said that regenerate was a needlessly complex keyword. It'd probably be the keywording of tenacious dead because that's what regenerate should probably have been and what they intended it to be.
That's a very good observation.
While I wouldn't expect them to change Regeneration itself,
I could see them making a "new and improved" version a la Shroud/Hexproof.
The "can't be blocked by weaker creatures" suggestion also seems very good.

Came in here to post this. Funny how it was the last post. Maybe there will be mirrored effects on heroes and monsters in the form of new bushido and new flanking?
I guess that would be too confusing because of APNAP but a man can dream.
For a returning but tweaked mechanic, I would guess Champion or Offering, or maybe the two combined, where it lowers the mana cost & the card you offered/champion returns.

I could see this happening, Regenerate becomes Reanimate.

Well it would screw over Trolls and other living creatures with regenerate, since those don't go to the graveyard and come back like Skeletons, but rather heal damage so quickly they survive a deadly attack, then they have to wait a bit (become tapped) before engaging combat.
Of course that's only flavor, but it can be all the reason needed to stop them from changing/replacing Regenerate.
As far as what the retweeked mechanic will be, isn't it terribly obvious?
It has been very clearly stated that it is a mechanic that will fit well into the flavor of Greek mythology. It will be top-down based.
Just to point out that if we switched from regenerate to a "tenacious dead" style ability then Hydras, the most likely creatures in the set to have regenerates, would most likely not work.
Most hydras have 0/0 stats and enter with some number of +1/+1 counters based on casting cost. A Hydra that died then returned would return with 0 counters unless it had an ability that specified otherwise. This seems like a big hoop to jump through for every hydra in the block (I would expect no less than 5).

And the inverse is true that skeletons and zombies don't typically heal from their wounds, they just keep getting up.
Even if the flavor takes a hit, if they do ever "fix" regenerate, the pros would outweigh the cons for it to be consistent among all colors.
All terrible joking aside, I see all the talk about Bushido, and then just imagine an already insanely pumped hydra with "Bushido X"...
