The only thing that could save this Summer of Disappointment is if they announced that there would be timeshifted cards in M14 like they did in Time Spiral. That would get me to start playing Magic again.

You've got a rat in your walls, and cheese won't solve anything.
I like the wasteland and Lyzolda is in love with Barrage of Expendables, but the skeleton is underwhelming, Reassembling wasn't anywhere near strong and while this is indeed one more piece for the Skullclamp engine, it's the worst and weakest they've printed so far.
Well Tenacious Dead firmly disproves the rumor of Thoughtseize and filter lands. That's good info. Nice to know there are new duals in Theros.
In general, I like lands that destroy non-basic lands. Encroaching Wastes is nice and simple, which is good. On the other hand, I feel that a activation wouldn't have been pushing it too much. It'll still be used in constructed decks.

Yeah even at 3 the land still would have been strictly worse than Dust Bowl but would be fine to print.
Oh well. At least they were honest that it was mainly intended for standard, which it will be good in.
It never ceases to amaze me how people can raise an ungodly hullabaloo about power-creep one day, then cry fowl the next when wizards creates cards that aren't as powerful as older cards. Make up your minds people!
It's funny when people complain about cards being better or worse than other cards that are very similar. I thank God when I read those comments that those people are not designing the games. Cards are designed for different environments at different times. It's not that Tec. Edge or Reassembling Skeleton were too powerful. It's that they did not fit what the designers (and developers) wanted for the environments they were designed for.
Honestly, we should be glad of Bombardment not being in modern. Melira is dumb enough as is when she has to reach to black for an infinite engine. Don't give her that. I for one welcome our new stupidly named Bombardment knock-off Overlord.
As for Tenacious D... Really, was Reassembling Skeleton broken somehow? Too good? I mean it saw soooooo much play.
And Encroaching Wastes, Man, I really wanted some nonbasic hate because I'm just about fed up with 3/4 color manabases, but really, was Tectonic Edge too good?
There won't be a 3cc LD anymore, even if you lose a land drop. God they nerfed even Demolish!
For much i love Goblin Bombardment there isn't space for it in modern, so Barrage of Expendables is a good palliative.
Voracious Wurm is a nice little card that in the right environment could see A LOT of play

I would like to gently remind everyone that Tenacious Dead is not a strictly worse Reassembling Skeleton. The former is one mana, the latter is two. Believe it or not, that sort of thing matters when evaluating a card.
I admit that in most circumstances, I would probably prefer the Skeleton's flexibility over the Dead's lower initial cost, but there are plenty of realistic cases where the cheaper cost will be more advantageous.
As for the Barrage, once again, one mana versus two. Not strictly worse. Yes, the fact that you have to input mana will probably in nearly all circumstances make Bombardment the better choice of the two, but now we're comparing a card from Tempest that existed in a very different environment to a card printed in 2013. Yes, Bombardment would be broken in the current playing field. Whether Barrage will see any play remains to be seen, but someone, somewhere will want it.
As for the land, okay, there I will grant that it's strictly worse than Dust Bowl or Wasteland. As for whether it's strictly worse than Tectonic Edge, that's highly debatable. Either way, I still expect it to be played. It's a card that the current formats need, regardless of what came before, and EDH is always glad to see another budget alternative to deal with problem lands.
I'm quite sad there aren't any duals here. I always look forward to opening them in pre-releases. Anyways, we got a worse Goblin Bombardment, a really awesome wurm and some cool non-basic land hate (even if there aren't as many non-basics in this set).
If you know anything about Standard, you should be aware about Wizards trying to keep Combo out of it. Repeatable effects of any kind nowadays almost always have a mana cost, just to prevent shenanigans
Tenacious Dead is just a Drudge Skeleton that swaps around its mana cost and regeneration cost for a more niftier regeneration coverage (Including sacrificing). He's worse than Reassembling skeleton no matter how I look at it.
Edit: While Reassembling Skeleton needs one more mana, you can build around it so that it will not cost you a card (Mill/discard it, for example), but Tenacious Dead will always cost you a card from playing it.
Man, the Barrage of Expendables looks great, really. It turns everything into a Mogg Fanatic, and if you have critters with good dies or leaves triggers, it could be a nice tool.

This is not, the greatest two drop skeleton in the wor-orld. This is just a tribute.
Reassembling did get printed in two core sets in a row. I like the pseudo Goblin Bombardment. I doubt I'll ever get the original in Modern, so this'll have to do. With a bit of ramp, the new Wastes is as fast if not faster than Tec Edge. I'll have to grab some up. That wurm is pretty sick. I may have to start working a roguish green life gain for Modern.

It even fits the curve.
