I rather like the option of dropping the platemail the turn before you wrath. That seems to be a fairly solid play in limited but in constructed I think there are better things to do on turns 4 and 5
You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.

I mean, RTR had an enchantment subtheme, so maybe these are just to go with it.
Or there's a larger enchantment theme in Theros that is going to be supported by Ravnica's subtheme, like Ravnica's multicolor was supported by the multicolor and off-color flashback cards in Innistrad.
Haunted Plate Mail has totally awesome flavour and could very well be on the cusp of playability. The way its ability is worded makes it awesome. It won't stop being a creature if you play another creature, making it awesome with a creature with Haste against sweepers and probably sick fun with Obzedat. +4/+4 for 4 is obviously not the bee's knees, but when it's worth it, it'll really be worth it.
Blightcaster puts enchantments more on the map. While the possibility of a strong enchantment theme in Theros seems awesome to speculate about, the idea that they'd push enchantments and Auras as one of the driving forces of M14's Limited development is cool. I have fond memories with the enchantment and Aura subtheme of the original Ravnica Block, and despite being one of the most maligned card types, strong enchantments have and do continue help shape formats. All the relevant evaluation of this card is well presented in the article and it was worth the full read.
I think the Plate could potentially see some play in some sort of Pox/ Deathcloud deck. Not really the best card in world, but I like it.
The Blightcaster is fun but not amazing.
The new Merfolk Wizard previewed is pretty sweet on the other hand.
M14 might not be shaping up have the most competitive constructed playable cards, but In my opinion it looks excellent for kitchen table and limited. I'm actually very excited about it.
i dislike the black card because its clearly a limited pick, and so far there are little no enchantments in black worth picking with it. its unplayable in standard as its too situational and theres again, little to no enchantments worth running in black with it, and the equipment while very flavorful just feels... bad. i like that its wrath protection but most decks that care about wrath protection like that will have it costed too high to be playable. pretty good in limited. boring and underwhelming everywhere else. i'm getting tired of 'limited bomb'.
Enchantments matter in black? This is concrete proof of a strong enchantment subtheme (at minimum) in Theros, or at least in one set of the block. Isn't black the color that could give two ****'s about enchantments usually? (Along with red)
All fingers are crossed for the long-awaited enchantments-matter block. Don't phone it in please, Wizards!

I like it a little bit more. It activates for free and seems like it will fit well in a control deck.

Blightcaster is a cute card, but that's about it.
"I hope to have such a death... lying in triumph atop the broken bodies of those who slew me..."
...somebody always says that...
...but maybe it's just rather...
...that M14 has a little enchantment sub-theme.
It reminds me of more... awkward times for cards like Sylvan Library.

I mean, RTR had an enchantment subtheme, so maybe these are just to go with it.
Case in point: Haunted Plate Mail and MWC. I get that I can use it post-sweep, but it's just... not... good enough.
I'll take it in Limited, but it's not exactly a "bomb." I'm not even ready to call it a 1st pick. I see myself passing it frequently.
Just seems like a waste.
Pretty much. Here's to hoping it's the mythical enchantment block people have been wanting for years.

...But then, I'm the sort of guy who thinks it's funny to put Claustrophobia and Agoraphobia on the same creature.
I still love the idea of equipping equipment to an equipment.

Just because it's in M14 doesn't mean it's in Theros.
As Crepes said, RTR has an enchantment subtheme. Blightcaster plays well with that.
