I actually really like this card. White weenie decks are fairly good at simply trading creatures turns 1-4 with other aggro decks anyway, then as soon as you play this and swing you're at 21 with an anthem that gains you life. Against control or slow mid-range decks a swarm WW will almost always have this active in stage 1 or 2. Sure burn to the dome can shrink your creatures, but that's burn that isn't killing your creatures!
It is an interesting card in Aggro Mirror MUs though. Probably not good enough to warrant inclusion, but it is something to think about.
Yeah I was thinking about it as a possible SB option in the aggro mirror but like, there will be too much variance with the anthem effect and you're probably looking a 2ish life per attack, IF you attack with all your creatures, per turn. Too much variance, too much variance.

Interesting that they worded referencing your starting life total. I wonder if that was done with the intention to get around the 40 life total for EDH.
Awesome; a very clever twist on the old anthem effect... it's one that's designed specifically for white weenie strategies, too. It rewards you playing with lots of little dudes, and provides non-trivial amounts of lifegain, allowing you to go all in every turn.
Also, the mana cost on it is splashable enough that you could fit this into other decks as well. Very neat!
I like that it can "turn on" just by attacking. I think there will be situations where your opponent will attack loosely to try to turn it off just because of the buggery that anthems represent. Design is solid on this. By the way did anyone see the glorious anthem art in dotp2014. Fantastic.

Contradictory card is contradictory. Aggro decks with many creatures want an anthem and don't care for their own life total, so the only time it will be an anthem is against a slow control deck (i.e. there are none right now cause most play creatures as well). I mean, it's actually best in an aggro mirror match I guess? But in that matchup it's only a life gain engine, and one dependent upon you swinging in regardless of opposing creatures.

Feels like a perfect card for drafting white. I am hoping white will have some good life gain and life link creatures (we know one already, the life link paladin) so it will be viable in a draft.
As a white weenie EDH player, my Kong Ming really wishes the "starting life total" wasn't there. White weenie doesn't care about it's life total, and Sovereign/Endurance decks don't have many creatures.
This card is a failure of over-extension.

If you only want it for the anthem effect, yes.

Pretty sure that a little bit of lifegain isn't worth playing over another creature or removal spell in an aggro mirror.

I'd rather just play Honor of the Pure
