Greek/Roman "mythology" is cool, but i'd like it more if it included some "historical" elements as well, such as spartans, greek philosophers, Athenian democracy, slaves, Roman imperialism, etc.
I would find it entertaining if they rolled with the idea of a group of Planeswalkers playing at being gods with the legendary creatures being their offspring.
Your university teacher needs to get into 2013 already
On a more useful note, it's nice to have a real confirmation of this. Even though we had good reasons to believe with what we already had. Seems promising!
I'd love to see some mythology make its way into MTG. Growing up, I always loved opening up my book of Greek Myths to read the different stories. Seeing it in my game now would make it even better.

Jace bounce was a -1. He could do it 3 times before he would die. Liliana can only do it once before having to do her +1. Overall very disappointed with her unless we get Madness.
Crap, you're right, she's not as good as one of the single most overpowered cards ever printed. Unplayable!
Island
Basic Land - Island T: Add U to your mana pool.
Common
EDH trash. It should have had "draw a card" or cost 2 less. It only produces one color! I'm so disappointed with this set. This is almost a bad as that trash YMTC.
In all seriousness, I asked MaRo on his Tumblr if they'd reprint Planechase cards in expert expansions, and he said yes, so there's a shot the seemingly resident Krond the Dawn-Clad is our first Theros card (besides that EDH trash-land, "Island"). Vela the Night-Clad, too, though she might show up in Journey Into Nyx.
I hadn't seen that comic book cover---man that's gorgeous! Really summery and nice. It's going to be a fun world.

1) not actually in Greco-Roman mythology
2) probably very heavily copyrighted
so probably not.
Wrong.
In Greek mythology, Kratos or Cratus (Ancient Greek: Κράτος, English translation: "power") is the son of Pallas and Styx and the personification of strength and power.[1][2] Kratos and his siblings—Nike ("victory"), Bia ("Violence"), and Zelus ("zeal")—are the winged enforcers (sky tides) of the Olympian God Zeus. He makes an appearance in Aeschylus's Prometheus Bound, in which he is one of the trio that binds the titular Titan, the other two being Hephaestus and Bia.[3]
You know what would be awesome? If each pack had a random card written in Greek instead of whatever language the pack is printed in. It could go in the "timeshifted/doublefaced card" slot.
Really, what's with all the people acting like Theros being Greco-Roman is still unconfirmed. We've known this for over a month. Also, the Dack Fayden product description further proves it.
"DACK FAYDEN RETURNS!... But upon uncovering the half of a strange gauntlet, Dack is led to a strange new plane: the realm of THEROS, a sun-dappled ruled by gods and inhabited by mythological beasts!
The art features a trireme, aqueducts, ionic pillars and a colossus.
Sigh. All these post count mongers hitting "post quick reply" without doing a second of research.

There are greek columns and buildings in the background. The picture was on reddit.
I wonder if we'll get creature - god

Ah...sorry. I found confirmation a while back but didn't post it because I thought it was already known.
Here's the official confirmation, from WoTC's lawyer:
From the form you quoted:
Wizards also intends to expand its use from the core physical and online trading card game to encompass tournaments, online publications, movies and television, computer games, games for mobile digital devices and the other goods and services encompassed in its applications
Is this usual, just to reserve the rights to eventually use it this way, or does this mean we'll get Theros movies, TV series and games?
Sigh, its looking less and less likely that I will ever see Kiora Atua in cardboard form...Not looking forward to eating this Dracogenius, magic cards taste horrible.
MaRo said they "found a place" for her. So at least she is in the 7-year-plan haha.

Theros would coincide with "300: Rise of an Empire" too, which was probably calculated.
I thought the same thing with the release of Zendikar and its similarity with Pandora from Avatar
...Now regarding this set, what I wonder is if they will use legendary creatures or planeswalkers or both to represent the gods

what I wonder is if they will use legendary creatures or planeswalkers or both to represent the gods
More than likely it will be creatures. But I can see one planeswalker pretending/representing a god.
Who knows maybe said planeswalker ascended on Theros and due to the nature of the plane is actually a god there but becomes mortal while on other planes so they don't journey to other planes often.
Maybe we get the lithomancer that helped Sorin and Ugin seal the Eldrazi. If I remember correctly storywise they never showed up to heed the call on Zendikar but Sorin didn't know their fates. And Bolas says he killed Ugin in the web comics. Could be one of the "This is my home plane." walkers for this block.

You're comparing a Theros Event Deck display to a M14 booster pack display. Of course MSRPs will be different.
