I hope this shows up in a draft format where opponents are likely to be discarding cards for effects, like with bloodrush and madness. Otherwise, if you voted for this card and like drafting, you must also love opening unuseable rares (for the draft). The ~ 75% vote for this card is very revealing.

It's an instant speed 5/5 trampler for 4. Wtf do you people want seriously? It has applications in populate/ above the curve beats decks, or in Bant control/ flash. I seriously think anyone mad at this card for any reason other than losing an attacker to instant speed wurm, should go home and make their own awesome card game and leave the rest of us alone.
I do not really care that YMtC cards aren't tournament staples. But they should at least be interesting. Crucible of Worlds was a success not only because of it being very powerful, but because it was unique and elegant and got you thinking about how to use it. Crucible would still have been a success even if it ended up costing 6 or so. I say "I want to play this" when I look at Crucible before the casting cost crosses my mind.
I said it before but i think it needs to be restated... Crucible of Worlds is a statistical outlier.
The majority of players in the world are terrible at magic and the problem is that they don't know they are terrible because they only play with other terrible players. Hell the bad players on these forums (and other similar forums) who claim this card is good/original/had a great name (not only is this name a place holder its terrible at representing the card and better fit blood in the watering can) are still 2-3x better than the rest of the world because they hear it from us. Even if they don't like what they hear and rebel against our wisdom they still get to hear it.
the real fail with YmtC is wizards of the coast letting something so terrible get to the top 16, much less the top 8. We had some solid stuff in the top 8 but we also had some bad cards with adjustable values and then we had this. It was like they intentionally picked something famous for being a deceptive card for casuals... like they were trolling us with it. If you give us a top 8 with all playable solid cards (or competitive options) and the casual players will swing the vote to the more flavorful options but still a solid option. Give us a top 8 with 7 AMAZINGLY PLAYABLE TOURNAMENT WORTHY CARDS and a single terribly desceptive card that looks good to untrained eyes and it will win every time... they simply out number us that much... we are literally the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the magic universe.
Everytime I open this card (whatever it's name is, and flavor or art) I will have a bad taste in my mouth simply because there were other far better options available.

Democracy in action- I dropped out at the land phase. Now we get what we deserve a bad but popular for the masses card.
I also gave up after Land lost due to Wizards sticking their finger in the batter. The whole affair was a lost cause nearly from the start, and I have no sympathy for the people pounding the ground with their fists.
At least this has a small chance of being low cost. Blood in the Watering Can was a repeatable advantage engine. There's no way it would have been printed in modern Magic at less than 4 CMC.

I didn't like Revenge of Necromany as I'm primarily a limited and standard player. This card needs a lot of support to be good. I hope that in the set they put this card into, they make some common discard spells. It would also play with well with thoughseize.
Anyway, I played EDH for the first time tonight with daily mtg writer Mike Cannon and a few guys.
I borrowed a monoblack EDH deck from one of the players i'd just met. I had asked him for a deck that played with the gy, he gave me Balthor the defiled, I didn't know the deck at all, but it was loaded with great cards. I sat back comfortably on a weenie and a gravepact, while my mana built up and i got some board presence. I cast a diabolic tutor and found a leyline of the void. Everyone was playing a black or red deck, there was also a Mimeoplasm, so I knew the disparity of the leyline would be good. The player to my right cast a game changing sepuchral primordial chained into another one from another players gy, he had a monsterous field. On my turn I cast the leyline, then a boardwipe, rocking the game into my favor. On my next turn I summoned my general with mana open to pop my gy into play. EDH is a nuts format. Many deaths and mass ressurections later I stood on the mound of my enemies corpses, I mean, it was gg.
Edit: also we tried the game with the new legend rule. I thought it was good, as the guy playing Mimeoplasm was able to clone Mike's Kiki Jiki
, it made for fun shenanigans.
Long story short, I had a great time, and won the game.
Revenge looks like it would be great in an EDH deck built with a discard focus. It sounds like a lot of fun.
I voted for creature, then land, and red enchant. I wanted consuming contract the most out of top 8, but oh well. I'm not bitter at all, I just want the mana cost of this thing to be low enough to be playable. I think it might be useable at 2 mana, and at 1 it would be awesome.

I love how many people on here think they are great at speculating cards' power levels. I'm sure they are all extremely rich because they know which cards are going to be good and they buy low/sell high.
Do I like the card? A bit. It has some flavor for black. Will I build a deck around it? Probably not. Will I play it if someone breaks it? Yes. And they will too. An the cognitive dissonance will be hilarious.
I was for this card from the beginning. I wanted an enchantment because I knew a land was not going to end up being as amazing as we want it to be. The individuals at WoTC, who design cards, make the best cards by accident most of the time. That is to say, all those cards we love for competitive play that seem soooo powerful were usually not intended to be as powerful and unbalanced as they are. So you cannot expect a card getting created that is too powerful from YMTC these days.
Think about the power of the forums now. Even when Crucible was made, the forums for magic were not this strong. Now, the guys in R & D and the individuals heading the YMTC contest, guiding it; they have access to the forums. They have the ability to see the perspective of thousands of people who review the card ideas. They know what people want before we got our top 8 and they surely picked these cards with some of that in mind.
I think Blood in the Watering Can was very linear. Those saying that Revenge of Necromancy doesn't have the potential to be competitive are not thinking outside the box. It is only recently that one could win by just running monsters over the table to kill the opponent. I want complexity.
I ultimately voted for Blood in the Watering Can because I thought it would be easier to take advantage of. I kind of regret not throwing my last vote behind the most fun and exciting card I wanted form the start of the top 8. I am not upset though that Revenge won because, if they cost it efficiently, we may get a chance to make that card amazing. Yes it will need more support -- way more support than BitWC, but it will be fun trying to break it.
This game is definitely not all about competitive decks and play styles. The majority of people will likely never play it competitively. People want to have fun, and this is the kind of card that gets cogs turning, even if it never gets anywhere, it will spurn thought and get people more creative with their playstyle -- which is much more intriguing for the future of standard than the 'smash face' mentality of the current environment.

If I wanted fun jank, I would've wanted a fun big green creature that might see play as opposed to a super conditional black enchantment with an irrelevant name. A black enchantment was something that we should have made competitive, seeing as how enchantments are rarely good enough to see the spotlight as opposed to the other card types.

We should be asking 'Why aren't they good enough?' What makes them so inferior? Most importantly, what can be done to make us want to play enchantments more effectively or competitively. Shrieking Affliction/other discard could be fun and possibly competitive too. RoN is a pretty damn strong engine with constant discard.
This card, however, is boring.
One in every one competitive player is going to open this card in a draft.
