I am already a little iffy about the new one-sided Slivers. If they are only WGR, I will be furious though. I am loving the black cards spoiled so far. Green, though, looks really pushed.
That makes like ~60 cards spoiled and only 2 blue cards. Strange, huh?
And around five black cards, which is the only thing keeping me from going absolutely crazy at the thought that slivers might me Naya exclusive (and this is coming from someone who didn't mind the mechanic change and got over the art change pretty quickly).
The pyromancer is pretty cool, I wonder how much it will improve the standard storm decks.
Non ability worded landfall is interesting, seems to be foreshadowing another land theme?
On another note, Bonescythe Sliver and Ogre Battledriver are apparently different rarities, which would be really, really weird if they are both promos. Much less sure Ooze is in than I was half an hour ago.

I primarily play limited, so most of my spoiler season comments view cards through that lens.
I hate that they make cards like Savage Summoning, when odds are there is really no reason to print it when there aren't any good counters nowadays. Some interesting cards spoiled though, seems like a lot of them will be good in limited/casual.
Can't be countered is not it's main strength - it gives flash and an additional +1/+1 counter. Can't be countered is just a nice little bonus that might be relevant sometimes.
Ring of three wishes is just a (mostly) worse planar portal, but there are a lot of good cards here. I love that the name of the mass reanimate spell tells me there will be a reprint of Liliana of the Dark Realms in m14.
Liliana's Reaver seems like a good beater, there might be a decent zombie deck to be had pre-rotation.
Getting your first card at 10 mana instead of 12 is quite useful. Yes after 3 activation's Planar Portal continues to work and the Ring does nothing but if you need to tutor up 4-5 cards to win you are playing a very odd game. You can also tutor up another Ring with the last wish if you really really need more cards.
Also, can someone calculate the average return on Molten Birth?
On average, it'll come back twice, so you'll get to cast it 3 times.
EDIT: Oops, miscalculated this somehow. In two different ways, even. As other posters have since pointed out, on average it'll come back once, so you'll get to cast it twice.

If it's not its main strength then why tack that on when they really didn't need to? Card would have been fine without not being able to counter the creature added on to it.
"Ogres are driven by passion, rage, and another ogre standing behind them with a whip."
"Immolation is the sincerest form of flattery."
"For every living person there are generations of dead. Which realm would you rather rule?" -Liliana
"It's not just you. Everyone makes it angry." -Ardenoth, elvish nature advocate
"Four claws, two wings, one beak, no fear."
"The necromancer's touch strips away memory and loyalty, so only strength and malice remain."
"No simple coin toss can solve this riddle. You must think and choose wisely."
On the art for Grim's Return, the subject is coming back from the dead with a bloody sword through them; removing the sword; and then wielding it. Amazing.
Jace's Mindseeker is literally "fishing", lol.
Glimpse the Future is beautiful...And rather nude-a-riffic...which is unrelated, I swear!
Primeval Bounty is also gorgeous.

that's not what happened at all. kamahl stabbed phage, akroma, and some old lady and they became korona. then korona got stabbed by her "prophets" and kamahl got drunk with a mutant centaur
Grim Return is ridiculous
Sense of the Dark Realms is awesome.. In Edh
Young Pyromancer is really really playable
Savage Summoning is power creep at it's worse. it's so ****ing stupid.
There is a special place in my heart for all angel related cards. Devout invocation and Seraph of the Sword are AWESOME!!! I like that the seraph reminds me of Dawn Elemental, and I love that if you are lucky enough, you can cast Devout invocation into a Devout Invocation.
Also, Vial of poison is one of those fun cards that I want to open at a pre-release,

Master of Diversion looks like such a blowout in Limited.
Also, can someone calculate the average return on Molten Birth?
4 tokens. That does assume the possibility of infinite casts though.
Edit:Including work for viewing. Suppose Molten Birth has an average return of x tokens. It must also have an average return of 1/2*2 (you lose the flip)+ 1/2*(2+x) (you win the flip).
Therefore, x=1/2*2+1/2*(2+x)
x=1+1/2*x+1
1/2x=2
x=4
You could also compute the sum of 2x/(2^x) from 1 to infinity, which of course works out to the same thing.
Man, at the rate we're getting counterspell-hosers these days, its almost like they're going to reprint Counterspell.
Or they're gearing up for a Force of Will reprint and want the format to be as hostile as possible to it just to be safe. I already tend to think FoW wouldn't see play in Standard as long as there aren't decks dropping "deal with this or lose immediately" grade threats before turn 3, but perhaps WotC is just making absolutely sure that the environment is safe.

Force is strong but in Standard it would just be mediocre at best. It won't be nearly as game impacting as it is in Legacy/Vintage where Force can slap around a combo deck big time.
Wow @ that pyromancer. How that card is not a rare with the way theyve been handling rarities I have not the slightest clue, but I would absolutely love if condition based (very red conditions obviously) token production was a bigger part of reds pie, although they have been much more prevalent recently even if they're all goblins.
Maybe wizards has finally decided that lightning bolt can't be the only good red card, so to make it up to the poor neglected red players the broken red two drop to complete the super-cycle is the only one at uncommon.
It would be interesting what kind of card they would print in that same design scope but pushed to rare.
Overall, seems like one of the best core sets in a long, long time. Very rarely do I find myself interesting in multiple cards in an spoiler season, let alone the first half of one.
Savage Summoning doesn't seem as good as Skylasher to me.
What good is making something uncounterable if it's just going to get bounced with Charm or Rift anyways?
Savage Summonings going to be a thing I think. Sure it costs an extra mana to summon a creature, but it's GOING to be summoned. Another nice way to say LOL to blue decks.
Savage Summoning is completely fair. Cards like Autumn's Veil have been a thing for awhile. Getting can't be countered at the cost of an additional colored mana and another card is less powerful than Cavern of Souls by an order of magnitude.

We have very few of the U/B cards, so I wouldn't panic.

Edit:Jesus Christ, it is a 2/1. I read it as a 1/1 because 2/1 seemed to be obviously ridiculous at uncommon.
