Force is strong but in Standard it would just be mediocre at best. It won't be nearly as game impacting as it is in Legacy/Vintage where Force can slap around a combo deck big time.
That would be the point of what I said, yes. It's simultaneously weaker than Counterspell in Standard while giving Modern access to something it needs to replace Legacy like they originally said it would. Still, WotC cares more about Standard more than pretty much any other format save Limited and right now the only way to get cards into Modern is to print them in Standard-legal sets. I could definitely see them making sure that counters are well and truly hosed before taking the chance on FoW. I mean, sure most people think it wouldn't even see play in Standard (or if it did, not as a four-of and certainly not as a reason to go blue in and of itself), but why not be extra sure by hosing counterspells in general?
I've seen a few people mention that slivers are naya colored only. This is only true so far. Most of the sliver spoilers come from D14, where more than likely there is a sliver themed deck. Naya would make the most sense color wise for a deck like that. So there is still a good possibility slivers are in all five colors.,
Alchemy's definitely common, and in a set with a GY theme that was also relatively agressive. (Spell based decks were much more difficult to make work.)
Very high on the mana curve, but the EDHable mythicness in this set is awesome.
GTC was seen as the edh set, but did a poor job of it, THIS is an EDH set.
No joke, practically every rare and mythic slots nicely into various decks.
Primeval Bounty, Into the Wilds, Ajani's Chosen, Jace's Mindseeker, Rise of the Dark Realms, Liliana's Reaver, and Ring of Three Wishes will become quite popular, methinks.

I have to say that glimpse the future may be the worst blue card draw in a long time.
That out of the way, it is looking increasingly likely that slivers won't be in all 5 colors. I am not one of the people complaining about the new look, or the changed mechanic. In fact, as somebody who has been obsessed with slivers since my beginnings as a magic player, I am that rare player who is a gigantic sliver-fan and not bitter about the changes...that said, if slivers are Naya only, I will be bitter. Very, very, very bitter.
Just because the Duels Sliver deck is Naya only doesn't mean M14 will only have Slivers in Naya. I'm thinking we'll definitely have Wind Drake Sliver in Blue, at the very least.
Agreed. Did we really need a strictly worse version of Forbidden Alchemy?
I just don't understand these two blue cards. One is a worse Blue Primordial from GTC and one is a super worse Forbidden Alchemy. Is blue really so powerful that it needs to get WORSE from core to core? I'm shaking my head on this one.
The other cards in this set I really love. The green enchantments are making me so excited to build momir vig/simic EDH.
On average, it'll come back twice, so you'll get to cast it 3 times.
No. It will come back once. Each time it comes back with pr. 1/2. It adds up to 1 as can be seen as follows: take a piece of paper. Paint a line along the middle and write 0 on one side. On the other side paint a line along the middle and write 1 on one side. Divide the other into 2 and write 2 on one side. Continue doing this infinitly many times. Now the fraction of the paper with 0 inside is excatly 1/2 like the probability that you get to return it 0 times. The fraction with 1 inside is excatly 1/4 and is the pr. to return it once and then fail. And so on. We see that all numbers are on this piece of paper and has the right fractional size of the paper. Thus the fractions add up to (at most) one. On the other hand if we pick a point at random on the piece of paper it will be in an area with a (finite) number on it with pr. 0.999...=1 (We assume that the line belongs to one of the areas). This implies that the fractions add up to at least one. Hence they add up to 1.
In a game people will only cast it a few times at most and then stop, because they simply wont get that amount of mana through a game (atleast a game without access to infinite red mana). This lowers the average a bit but it is not clear how much.

Well. There's a lot here I hate and a lot I don't hate.
First-- the "Green Quicken"- IMO:
Good card for Legacy and Modern (prob not Vintage), for Casual of all kinds, maybe even for Commander. Bad card for Standard and Limited.
Ultimately I am content it exists, but I only want it reprinted in Pre-Cons from now on. Hard-core Control and Hard-core Anti-Control both need to exist. But I'm not much of a fan of either of them for Standard. Does that make sense?
Some of these Mythics are Interesting. Ring of Three Wishes seems like a plain Good Design that I have a hard time complaining about from any legitimate direction. I feel asking for it to be cheaper is like asking for Counterspell in Standard. (Though Counterspell in Modern is, I believe, Reasonable). Just...no. Of COURSE the people who will want to play it will want it cheaper. Considering how heavily played this will be in Commander though, it's about the right cost. Not sure if I want it to be a Rare or a Mythic, but hey, as Mythics go it'll be a decently cheap Mythic I think.
Overall the card reminds me of Chromatic Lantern: generally useful Colorless Card that just gives you pretty much what you want at premium price, but your willing to pay it for that kind of benefit.
I like Liliana's Ultimate getting it's own card
I am all torn up about the Instant-Reanimation spell.
1. Might break Standard.
2. Seems cool and fun and awesome.
3. Trying to compare it to all these Premium Deck Series cards I have...I think I wouldn't want to use it in a 'True Reanimator' deck (Legacy crap bringing out ginormous combo beats) but maybe I would use it in a 'Fair Deck' for fun. It's the ''Duel Decks-Appropriate" version of the effect?
4. Thing is, I REALLY like Reanimation spells to feel like ...well, like I'm playing Yu-Gi-Oh! to be honest. The really stupid kind of Yu-Gi-Oh! Second Season Anime Yu-Gi-Oh! where my Egyptian God Card makes up a bunch of fake rules on the spot to win
I understand most cards should be as un-like that type of gameplay as possible. But this is what we have Emrakuls and Sneak Attacks for: For the people that want to play Yu-Gi-Oh! It's ok to play Yu-Gi-Oh! sometimes.
I like Young Pyromancer alot, but alot of the nonrares I'm finding I kind of like Older Versions of in general, both where the old cards are stronger and where the old cards are weaker. I think I'm going to start playing Legacy soon. In fact, I might just start taking Duel Decks to Legacy. I know full well what will happen to me, but...I've been playing MAGIC so long, that I just sort of like Old Commons a lot more, even though I usually prefer New Rares to Old Rares.
It's a funny feeling. Anyone read that article about Age and MAGIC on gatheringmagic.com?
I still hate the Neo-Slivers. The doublestrike one looks exactly like The Problem as I see it. But they are obviously here, and we'll all have to get used to them, and they have been pushed to make sure they are good in Standard. Cripe.
I'm really liking that coin-flip token maker in Red. I hope they continue making a small number of coin-flippers a year, without making so many that people that hate on them too much. Looks like they decided that's Design Space Red needs to access.
Basically I think I hate Green and White. Control is dying in Standard. I very may well decide, come Modern Masters, FTV: 20, and Commander 2014, (or whenever the new Commander thing comes out), that I will just have to go for Legacy- and Modern- targeted products for "Old School Dumb Stuff", and Standard is "supposed" to be the Thragtusk-type of "New School Dumb Stuff"
Does anyone have a booster box of Pre-Modern Cards they'd be willing to open with me a 6 strangers so I can draft with them? I love looking at Old Magic on Gatherer but actually have never played it. I came in at Lorwyn. I completely missed the Pre-Mending boat. And I keep getting this feeling more that I'm not going to appreciate the New as much until I really play the Old Game so I have more perspective on why R&D might be against bringing it back to Standard? Or if you've got a Psychatog Deck and an Affinity Deck built, can we Duel Deck them? My area has few MAGIC players and I'm actually in need of a playgroup for even just FNM -_-
I am probably every color-combination it is possible to be, though it's really hard to figure out what it would mean to be 4-colored....it doesn't seem logical to be 4-colored without being 5-colored.
Very high on the mana curve, but the EDHable mythicness in this set is awesome.
GTC was seen as the edh set, but did a poor job of it, THIS is an EDH set.
The only "EDH" sets I've noticed between Lorwyn and now are M14 and AVR. Ravnica Block 1.0 was pretty EDHable, but Ravnica 2.0 seemed to be...trying to reach a few too many formats. I know it's got 20 Legends in it, but it somehow still doesn't seem "EDH"able. It seems VERY "DuelDecks"able, but truly look at the Duel Decks Lists: Only some of those cards are good in EDH, not nearly the whole decks. In fact most of the decklists 'don't quite make it' in EDH. I'm not making the mistake of confusing EDH and Legacy, it just seems true-ish that the cards that happen to be good for EDH in the Duel Decks are usually the ones that are so good they are Legacy-good. That's because Duel Decks is completely non-Multiplayer.
The Guilds in GTC, RTR, and DGM seem to be set up to be some kind of mashed hybrid of 10 Duel Decks warring it out, which looks...kinda like a 'budget/de-Spiked' EDH. Eh, that's what I'm seeing anyway. I think it's because they did a GREAT job of making each Guild just SO Guild-feeling, that it's super factionalized. And EDH usually wants slightly more 'generic' cards than that. Not generic like weak- generic like 'very adaptable'- good with fitting into practically any system or guild. Core Sets tend to be exactly that.
How would people rate the "EDH"ableness of M10 or M13? (skipping 11 and 12 because the Titans answer the question with a 'YES' too quickly)
I am probably every color-combination it is possible to be, though it's really hard to figure out what it would mean to be 4-colored....it doesn't seem logical to be 4-colored without being 5-colored.
