Two uncommon green slivers? Last I checked, the breakdown was 2 common, 1 uncommon, and 1 rare per color.
Counting the artifact sliver, that's a total of 15 Sliver cards, 23 if we do have blue ad black slivers. When it comes to returning mechanics in core sets, that number is above average. M13 only had 11 exalted cards. M12 only had 10 bloodthirst cards. M11 only had 5 scry cards. Although it's an increasing trend, it doesn't seem to bode well for we who hope for blue and black slivers. Straw that'll break the camel's back if true.
I kinda want a Sliver land.
Somehow I thought the haste-giving Sliver was uncommon, my bad. Also isn't that an indicator that Sliver aren't the returning mechanic? Usually WotC keep the mechanic secret until they can spoil it themselves.
Gemhide itself won't be reprinted, but it's possible we'll get something close that does the same thing for all slivers you control. And with that being said, an uncommon rarity is likely.
So I was thinking about blue and black M14 slivers.
Tempest had a piddly amount, around 2 per color and 1 artifact.
Legions had a sliver of each color and rarity.
Time Spiral had the most. 4 per color, 1 cycle of allied color multicolor slivers, 1 artifact, and 2 timeshfited.
Planar Chaos had 1 of each color, 1 cycle of enemy color multicolor silvers, and 1 planeshifted sliver.
Future Sight had 5 future shifted slivers.
So if M14 has 6 or 7 slivers of one color, then there is no chance of all 5 colors having slivers. Right now, the max we have seen is 4 in one color, which isn't that bad, considering that time spiral has that amount per color, and that isn't counting artifacts and multicolor, and considering that, other than tempest, the other sets are small sets anyway.
Given the ratio of slivers in time spiral, 4 slivers per color in M14 isn't that bad.

As it stands, we have four Slivers in White, Red, and Green and a single artifact creature.
There's sadly not a high chance for a multicolored sliver.
And while there is room for four slivers in both Blue and Black, I'm not sure we're likely to have them
They never said slivers are all upside. I'd definitely expect to see something like Dormant Sliver but only for your own slivers in the future (though not in a core set).
I wouldn't expect to see pure downside slivers any time soon. They just function as downside creatures with an arbitrary "Don't play me with slivers" and "You're punished for drawing multiple of me".
I don't care what the mechanics are, I just hope we get Slivers in all five colors.
That being said, I think we'll see spread like this:
Blue common: slivers have "sac for conditional counter spell"
Blue common: slivers have flying
Blue uncommon: sliver cards have flash
Blue rare: slivers have "T: EOT blink effect"
Black common: slivers have "whenever CARDNAME dies, target creature gets -1/-1 until EOT."
Black common: slivers have intimidate
Black uncommon: slivers have "cost: return from graveyard to hand"
Black rare: slivers have lifelink
A blink effect is just wishful thinking on my part, since the biggest weakness of Slivers is overextension.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't think there are enough core set type of abilities in a single color anyway. Time Spiral block had the most, but that was an expansion set.
I don't know what is the big upset about there not being slivers in black and blue. I think having just naya colored slivers is fine as those colors are usually the most aggressive. what is the big deal here? What am i missing that make black and blue slivers so important? Perhaps wizards doesn't what to have 5 color sliver decks while shocks are in.

The big upset is that Slivers are a beloved and iconic creature-type and tribe. When asked why Wizards decided to make them Slivers instead of Allies they said, "we figured people would be happier with them than without." Taking that into consideration, they decided to alter this "icon" by changing their mechanic, their physical appearance, and (hopefully not) their tribal color spread/identity. If all these things are changed, the only thing that wouldn't have been changed is the one thing that should have been: the creature type, because that's the only thing about these things that even begin to say Sliver.

One of the signature traits of Slivers is being spread over all 5 colors. It's not just a random decision, it's because they are open to all sorts of traits and all types of qualities; they're not tied to a particular subset of color philosophy. That's why all Sliver Legends are all five colors. In fact, Sliver Queen wasn't just the first WUBRG Legend, it was the first WUBRG card ever.
But like everything else that was interesting or defining about Slivers, it seems to have been thrown out the Window. This is literally nothing like the old Slivers at all. They don't have the defining mechanical rule of Slivers, they don't have the defining visual design of Slivers, and they aren't even spread across all 5 colors (or so it seems anyway).
They could have invented a completely new race for this and called them "Predatorians" and no one would have batted an eyelash.

I sadly have to agree. While there are indeed some impressive cards with the creature type - "Sliver" on them, these are not Slivers. Not in appearance, not in style, not in concept.
And the whole wannabe Predator thing? What on earth were they thinking? It's not even a subtle thing, it's clearly Predator wannabes. A more humanoid form I could accept, but this is too far. Part of the draw to Slivers was that they were such an alien form of life.
If we're looking for Paralells, they're much closer to Xenomorphs than Predators, heck, if they had styled them in that direction and added a Predator-styled "hunter-of-slivers" race that'd have been doubleplusawesome all over. But this....I just don't get it. And without the books....there's no real background as to why the sudden and IMO, extreme change.

I think its a little WAY too soon to start making sliver decks. We don't have enough from M14 spoiled yet to know if there are better Blue and black slivers (or any at all) Don't jump the shark just yet.
Blue is now secondary in Flash, and isn't supposed to be able to grant it to other cards anymore, especially creatures. I'd expect to see a Flash sliver, but in Green, the primary colour of Flash.

Anyone else notice that the new slivers look like "Predator" from... "Predator"?
These don't look at all like slivers. These look like they're going to be hunting Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jesse Ventura in the forests.
Glad they're back though. People are quickly going to realize what a lot of people have realized. Everyone makes a sliver deck, it's a rite of passage into playing Magic, but people quickly conclude that slivers really aren't as powerful or fun to play as they thought they would be.

Still hoping for a Reflecting Sliver, like Reflecting Pool.
