I assume they are going on the fact that slivers do nothing but evolve, and have evolved to look like... that? I dunno, I don't like the new look, it doesn't look slivery to me. Seems like they went out of their way to make them look more humanlike?
don't know what plane is...
also... if that's so, those are different sliver than those on rath,
If I am not mistaken, volrath modified them back on, so that would explain why those slivers are humanoid like and different (only yours get boosts, in contrast of what old slivers did).
Logically, these are just "explanations" to what wizzy wanted to do, basically fix and update slivers to the "new" game standards...
not sure if I like those change yet, I guess all comes down to the number of good slivers we will get
Shandalar is a plane where tons of cards from recent core sets have come from. Start with the Ring cycle from M13, then start finding those names in flavor text and names. You'll be surprised.

Old sliver art style : New sliver art style :: Transformers G1 look : Transformers Michael Bay abomination movies look
To quote Mr. Horse... "No sir, I don't like it." (The art style, not the return of slivers)
I'm glad they're back, but I really hope they at least attempt to explain the new art style. I'm not surprised the new ones only effect slivers you control instead of all slivers, though. It's a core set, they have to make the learning curve as simple as possible.
Meh. Cheap knock off slivers are cheap knock offs. These are imitation slivers. I don't give two ***** about modern design. If it doesn't effect all slivers, then it isn't a real sliver.
Not everybody is gonna like the new look, and players ***** about anything.
So really, say something meaningful ppl. not just.
Hurr durr alien/predator, mirrodin looking slivers are stupid.
I assume they look like that because they evolved (in the flavor). Sliver Overlord and Sliver Legion hinted at the slivers evolving, so this must be the result of that evolution.
All in all I'm really excited and curious about how Wizards is going to do this. Some of the older slivers are on the reserved list, as is Sliver Queen.

These Slivers could be the "real" Slivers and be on their home plane (Shandalar).
From the Wiki:
The first slivers shown in the storyline lived in Rath. It's unknown from where they originally came. Volrath is said to have genetically modified them, but to what extent is also unknown.
In the same way you can tell someone is from the XVIII century because he is arroused by ankles, you can tell someone is from USA because he feels nipples disturbing.

Collecting Maw of the Mire! Feel free to send me any you have, so long as they're in reasonable condition.
Slivers were broken and irritating. This new wording could potentially help with the broken part.
As to the art: get over it. The whole flavor was the assimilation of biomass and abilities. They've evolved to note the efficacy of the humanoid shape. Slivers were a blatant rip of tyranids and Zerg. It only makes sense that they continue in that line.
If you want ugly art for a loved type, look at lorwyn elves, er, scratch that satyrs.
I was flipping the chair over trying to get my computer to load this faster.
I'm flipping the table now that I see them. WTF are these things?
Blur Sliver is the only one that looks at all like a Sliver. And giving it the clause 'you control' is dumb. It really pisses me off when companies try to 'improve' on a previous success because 9/10 they ruin it. Meh. Not a fan.

Only once have Slivers made an impact in tournament formats and it wasn't that great a deck.
slivers aren't broken. They're actually fairly easy to disrupt.

Clearly you weren't here for the new card face debacle.

His claw appendange seems to be a throwback to the older form's talons. They may be a hyper evolved version of the old species, afterall.

Assuming for a moment you're not trolling, were you provided a style guide for M14 for the Slivers' new look?

On the contrary, it was a mostly irrelevant footnote.

at a cost though of being 5000 mana more.

In fact they are, Slivers are supposed to be constantly evolving.

EDH is a CASUAL format. Get with the program, or GTFO.
It almost certainly does. "Mechanics" aren't just limited to keywords or ability words, so a strictly-templated tribal mechanic like Slivers counts.
