EDH is like French fries: some people like waffle cut, crinkle cut, or plain old straight cut, and while there's slight flavor difference and personal preference, at the end of the day they're still fries.

Once we had the "3 lands" thing and its notable absence in MM, Mutavault was looking incredibly likely. Good to have confirmation.
Big Garruk going out isn't surprising- he takes a lot of breathing room away from Prime Speaker Zegana.
To those wondering why the duals aren't in: Having only 5 dual lands in Block Constructed has been an enormous issue in recent years when players have attempted to construct decks. Moving 10-cycles to Expert Expansions helps tremendously in addressing this issue. In addition, newer players don't like opening these cards in their booster packs as rares, as they're unlikely to understand the value, so it helps on that axes as well.

I'd never doubt a mod's sources, but if true, that means we get an admitted failure in Liliana of the Dark Realms for a second year junk mythic, and Jace, Memory Adept for a third year in a row. So, with the junk mythics we already know, WotC is banking selling packs on a new red walker, slivers that affect one side of the board, and Mutavault? mmmmkay....

On #33 (Shandalar Paladin) does that mean that WOTC made a new card just for DOTP or they just gave a fake name for one of the cards in a decklist? The card was in a mono-white deck so I can't see it in any other color. Though I know it's unlikely based on the quick-start decks, I'd love to see show of valor hit the road. Definitely some food for though.
Mutavault is definitely something to look forward.
I'm kind of Bummed on Liliana and Jace (Ajani can stay). Definitely excited to see a new Garruk!

Or it might just be #34 and Show of Valor would move to #35 since the card number of neither of them is confirmed yet.

That's a bad argument, always has been, always will be. It's very simple to teach a new player that Dual Lands are good. Not understanding why something is candy is not a good reason to decide to not give candy to someone. It's a reason to eat some of the candy, smile, and give the rest of the candy to the kid to let them try it, and hopefully they'll discover they like the taste of candy.
I am quite happy that the price of Planeswalkers is being largely kept in check by the Core Set. More over by the Core Set being not only a huge print run but also drafted. Core stays on the shelves for the whole season, individual sets almost-but-don't-quite.
Part of why the Original Ravnica Duals got expensive was because they were just such a 10-card Expert cycle.
In fact, the two noteworthy "Money" Dual Cycles were specifically the Expert-level 10-Card ones: Ravnica and Innistrad. We don't count Beta because we never count Beta. We don't count Zendikar because it was a 5-card cycle and gettable at first.
But wait. Now the Fetchlands, even the Zendikars, actually are behaving like Beta Duals before them and Shocklands after.
This is a bad thing.
Dual Lands should be in Core Sets because they are as essential to the game as Grizzly Bears and Wind Drake. If WOTC moves Duals out of the Core Sets, it will be literally the second worst thing they can do besides moving Basic Lands out of packs and decks because 'they have no value, and players don't like filler' and into some special 'the only way to get Basics is to buy this product and it's only a ton of Basics' stupid thing.
The obvious solution is to do what 10th Did: Reprint a whole 10-card Cycle of Duals after they've been introduced in previous expert expansions and known to be good. The Innistrad ones were generic enough flavorfully to fit much more easily in Core than the Ravnica ones, and the Fetch Lands are also generic enough to be Core'd.
This is what should happen. The fate of good Dual Lands should be a reprint in a future Core Set.
I am not going to be so Anarchist as to say "Down with the Reserved List! Tarmogoyf needs a Common Reprint in Theros!".
I like some of the occasions when the game is a diverting investment game as well as a card game.
Dual Lands are not a good place for this to happen. It's the easiest way to price someone out of a format: Have the mana be unviable. It's the same problem for Standard as Block. The Mana Must Always Be Viable.
Look at Command Tower. Technically it's expansion symbol color doesn't actually matter-- but it's a "Common", and it is right for it to be a Common for that particular format. Dual Lands don't need to be Commons, but they do need to be in Every Core Set.
I am probably every color-combination it is possible to be, though it's really hard to figure out what it would mean to be 4-colored....it doesn't seem logical to be 4-colored without being 5-colored.
This is what should happen. The fate of good Dual Lands should be a reprint in a future Core Set.
There is zero difference between reprinting them in a core set or a Fall expansion now with the yearly core sets. In fact, reprinting in a fall set likely leads to many more of those cards hitting the market.

Grizzly Bears, Wind Drake, Hill Giant.
Dual Lands should be considered like THIS kind of "Essential to the Game".
Almost Twin Brothers to Basic Lands themselves. Exactly the kind of material Core Sets want to have in them.
It sends a message to have them in the Core Set. To take them out of the Core sends this message:
"Dear New Players. We think your decks should suck because you don't understand how to play the game."
Think NWO. If they are serious about NWO- which they are- then combining NWO with "No Duals in Core Sets" is to say that New Players really shouldn't play "Real Magic" because it's above their level. NWO wants the New Player to consider each Core Set to pretty much be The Introduction to Magic Cube. Would you ever run a Cube without Duals?
EDIT: I will look on the Brightside, and for now I will assume this must mean there is an Uncommon Cycle of Dual Lands, which would neatly solve my beef and let you have your cake and eat it too. This would be a great thing. If there aren't ANY Duals, I will remain unhappy.
If there are non-Rare Duals, I might be convinced to be even happier with that than with Rare Duals in Core Boosters' Rare Slots.
So lets stop arguing and just wait and see if Uncommon Duals made it or not?
I am probably every color-combination it is possible to be, though it's really hard to figure out what it would mean to be 4-colored....it doesn't seem logical to be 4-colored without being 5-colored.
You forgot Scavenging Ooze, unknown Garruk and still 100 cards remaining. And besides, do you want all the good cards to be mythic so they are more valuable? I like that both ooze and mutavault are rare
Scavenging Ooze and Mutavault are good things....if the Mutavault is true...which I'm given to believe is almost assured, although rumor season can be wrong sometimes.
another wild accusation I heard was that Thoughtseize is in. If THAT is also true, then this set will sell fine off of Mutavault and Thoughtseize before we even look at the Planeswalkers.
The Mythics are mostly oddball Commander goodies, and the Set has a whole bunch of jank reprinted at all rarities because it's a Core Set. Watcha gunna do.
Mutavault + Scavenging Ooze + Thoughtseize would be enough to make it interesting enough to buy, though.

any news on the rumor that Thundermaw will get reprinted? I thought it was a forgone conclusion that he'd be in m14, please advise.
Sorry bro, I'd say it's 99% certain he's out. I've got a speculative mythic slot crunch going on over here, and he doesn't seem to fit in with another mythic creature, even less so alongside another 5cmc mythic dragon. I'll miss him sorely too
-2: Search your library for a Beast creature card and put it into your hand. Shuffle your library.
I actually thought of that.
I would still find it funny if Garruk's tradition of making tokens (beast in more than one case) didn't extend to a new Garruk with beast in his name making beast tokens.
correct me if i'm wrong, but regardless of rare or uncommon: there are simply no open land slots for duals
You're correct. And I don't see what we'd need them for when we have the gates. Limited, maybe?
Edit: and DarthParallax, while I agree wholeheartedly that good ally-colour duals should indeed be accessible to new players, and I have made that argument a lot of times myself over the years, there is this thing called Standard constructed. Right now, less rare-level mana fixing will be good for Standard constructed, and if they print a cycle of ally-colour rare duals, they're pretty much obligated to print a cycle of enemy-coloured rare duals to keep the guilds balanced. That means another year of three-color decks with an effortless all-dual mana base, and that's not where they'd like to take the game right now.
The core set checklands are already cheap enough to be accessible to new players, as they should be. New players are able to buy singles, and less likely to buy several booster boxes. Leaving them out of core for a year won't make a big difference right now, and I'm pretty sure they'll be back next year.

Even in limited the only way to stop slivers is with a cheap red boardwipe.
