Seems like a possibility, though I would like some officially creditable information to prove that Scavenging Ooze is coming in M14 before I place down my judgment on how this will come to affect Standard, Modern, and Limited.
The card seems much cooler for it's reprint value and use in older formats. I really do not see it making a huge impact on standard. At least not before rotation, and I think that alone will be enough to lower the price to some degree, even if printed at mythic.
Are you looking at the same card? It would be insane in the current meta. It's ridiculous against reanimator and a insanely strong threat against any other deck.

Well, it's obviously fantastic against Junk Rites, but against Revelation decks Voice of Resurgence is a better bear. It's probably about even against BTE decks.

Voice of Resurgence has white in it...
Scavenging Ooze can exile a card targeted by Snapcaster mage and gain a life against aggro.
I wouldn't be surprised if all three promos are rare. The other two (Bonescythe Sliver and Ogre Battledriver) don't really "sound" like mythics (especially the Sliver) and Wizards is wanting to cut down on mythic promos anyway to stop skewing their printed numbers so much. Maybe they're uncomfortable with the number of these promos as Duels gets more popular, so they're dropping down to rares.
I'm curious about some other things mentioned, like "loyalty rewards" for owners of Duels 2013, and the online-only "special edition" with additional content. Though that's probably just something like in 2013 where your "additional content" was starting with a couple of decks fully unlocked.
This site claims it is a press release, which means more than just he should of got it, let's keep an eye out for another (more credible) source releasing the same information to confirm this.

Playing Ooze to shrink goys is wrong, it's a bad play.
Ooze has only ever proven useful as like a 1-of and exclusively with GSZ. People in this thread are being overly optimistic if they think it will reduce Goyf's presence/effectiveness in Modern. It is a good card but it's not going to get rid of Tarmogoyf.

I'm just saying that it is an option if both are on the field, not that it is the bane of Tarmogoyf.
Although i do believe scavenging ooze needs to be reprinted i am not sure of how healthy it would be for standard. BTE into ooze is pretty scary and decks that run ooze's and voice's would be very very powerful.
Okay, anyone who is saying that Ooze prices will drop is quite likely wrong as can be.
Yes, the supply of Oozes is going to grow tremendously. At the same time, so will its demand. Right now, it only sees play in Legacy, and some play left and right in EDH. When Modern and Standard suddenly want copies of it, that demand is going to go nuts.

You're right, I should have made it clearer that I wasn't just directing that at you. Ooze really shines with GSZ because it lets you fetch it out when it's useful but the ability isn't alway relevant, while goyf is always a big dude.
In a board of Ooze vs Goyf, the Ooze is at an advantage but I just don't think it's that common of a situation. Goyf almost never dies to stuff like Lightning Bolt/Helix while the Ooze will almost always get killed by those common burn spells.

Yes, but the thing is, you can redeem oozes from STEAM. Why the heck would I pay 30 USD to preorder one when I can ask pay 10 less to my friends and get them a DOTP game at the same time ?
If anything, I expect a dramatic price correction as anyone can make multiple steam accounts for free. Its like a no brainer. I mean seriously ???
I wish my 4/4s with haste and first strike that acted as Goblin Warchiefs were better and didn't die to instants and overshadowed all other 4 drops in the format. And that they had evasion too, and some way to dodge wrath effects.
Do you really think either of the other cards are going to be as playable as the ooze? Or have a price tag as high as the ooze?
I love optimism and all, but I'm just trying to realistic.
I have no idea what either of those cards will do. I certainly wouldn't complain about free promos.
Having an awesome card like Scavening Ooze as a promo is good news for everyone, you're looking the gift horse in the mouth. If you really want this promo then buy that version of the game, wotc is giving you options.
Also, I'm not even convinced this is legitimate since the news is just on some random-ass small website.
So can anyone actually explain the process of getting the promo card after buying DOTP 2014 on steam? Do you get some kind of code and they mail you the card?

usually in the extra's section of the game there is a link that leads to a printable screen with the code. then you're supposed to go to a participating LGS and give them it

You will get a promo code with the game (it's given in the actual game client). You can print out or write down that code and bring it to a participating game store that has received the promo packs from Wizards (basically anywhere you can play FNM or other organized play events). You give them your code (to make sure you actually have purchased a copy of the game) and they will give you a special promo booster, that contains the promo card plus five other random cards from M14 (all commons, I think, but I can't remember).

There are no men like Goyf. There is only Goyf.

Well, Scavenging Ooze does grow by shrinking the Tarmogoyf.

Probably up, ooze will be a huge force in modern and standard.
Maybe they are trying to calm down Goyf in modern, green already means goyf...

this is fairly welcome news.
*Especially* if they went back to giving Foil promos, unlike last year.
However, as someone trying to build a BUG FNM deck,
I don't like the idea of having to get two more of these of these
Reprint Stasis!
Control needs more love.
