I'm not sure if this will make the value of scavenging ooze go up or down.
On one hand, it's the anti-goyf card. It will be legal in two additional formats, making the demand a lot higher. On the other hand, the supply will go up a lot since it's available in packs instead of just a pre-packaged set.
Probably down. M14 should be opened a lot, especially if it's as good of a draft set as M13 was. Remember each store will obtain 20? as DotP promos. All of which will enter circulation. 20 promos is about 30 boxes worth of the card. A lot of these are going to show up. Because DotP buys you a copy of slime for $10 too, that puts a price ceiling on the card for awhile.
Nope, Wizards is continuing their trend of making promos worse. It went from foil mythics in demand, to non foil mythics without demand, to non foil rares (2/3 of which are junk).
Wizards HAS been making promos worse, but...Scavenging Ooze is arguably the best promo they have made in YEARS. It sees Legacy play, when was the last time there was a promo that strong?

We don't even know what the other two rares are or do. How can you call them junk? Please tell me, I'm dying to know how you know.

Restoration Angel, and it was even in foil. Actually, I give them a lot of credit for making ooze a promo however their track record of making promos since they implemented their policy of making them worse hasn't been very good. The promos for duels for example used to be worth more than the game cost. Now however they're a couple bucks. Even ooze probably won't break $5 (though promo availability is a large part of this). They've intentionally been making promos worse because people get upset and feel left out when it's good and they don't get the promo. It's horrible logic they're using.

Ok, we know one of the two remaining is a black Sliver. Meaning we know roughly what it does. There's still some variation possible but it's not going to be something amazing. Look at their promos for last years duels.

The promo will be $15 and the normal $10-$20 depending on if it's rare or mythic, for as long as M14 is in print, then jump to $60+ a couple months after it's out of print.
This is Bob/Thoughtseize/Goyf level **** and will have such level prices.

Yes sir, I take fantasy art and character design commissions, PM me for rates.
If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.

You really think Scavenging Ooze will be under $5? That is what you're saying?
The number of non-land, Standard-legal rares worth more than $5 is smaller than you might think. Also, consider that the promo will essentially double it's circulation, heavy green isnt a great place to be in Standard right now, there's not a ton of Legacy demand propping up the price, and it's not really embraced by casual players. It remains to be seen how good it will be in Modern, although it will likely be very good.
$5-$10 seems about right, although it will likely preorder for more before backsliding into that range. And then it will slowly climb a bit in November.
It also depends a bit on how good the other rares/mythical are, and how heavily printed the set is.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
I still find this hard to believe. Is there any actual hard evidence yet that says scavenging ooze will be in the set? I'm not sure I trust that article in the OP.

Well you were wrong. They are both pretty awesome cards.
WTH? Why do we X-Box players get screwed over with a freaking Sliver-Card??? I don't play slivers. I don't want anything to do with the new slivers and it certainly wont be any good in anything else than a sliver-deck.........that's very disappointing if true. Especially when other platforms like Steam are getting a card, that is awesome and can be used in practically every deck that runs green......
Why don't you buy it on steam, xbox and ps4? Then you wouldn't have to worry about this. Plus you can stop complaining because you guys got Primordial Hydra while we got Serra Avatar last year. :/
"If fetch lands are reprinted I really believe they will be in allied colors (aka Onslaught fetches). If the fetch lands are reprinted you better believe that we'll all be fetching up basics. This would lead me to believe that the set after THS may have a reprint as the temples can't be fetched but it's pure speculation." - posted 03/22/2014 proved correct during Khans spoiler season.
"The set releases for fall 2015 (Blood, Sweat and Tears) and fall 2016 (Lock, Stock and Barrel). One or both of those 2 blocks (I'm betting) are going to contain either Fetch reprints or (more likely) Filter reprints. Filter lands still need a reprint. They are getting pretty high up there and it's been longer than ZEN so it makes a little more sense that Filter lands would see print earlier that fetches." - posted 03/22/2014 proved incorrect about filters coming earlier than fetches, still pending on filters in Origins block.
As for the Predator Sliver - I'm going to have a hard time not shouting "Get to the Choppah!" iin a reeeealy bad Austrian accent every time he hits the board.
I'm glad I decided to pilot a JUND deck along with a reanimator. This card is going to singlehandedly wreck Junk Rites and drive Deathrite Shaman to $0.25 The fact that everyone who owns ipad's is getting one just makes it even crazier. Graveyard play is going to be done for except when using Deadbridge Chant but you don't really get to target what you want with DBC. It's just a luck of the draw sort of thing.
Scooze doesn't even have to tap!! Pillar of flame is going to be my new best friend for turn 2. Putrefy for any other turn that could pump him past me.

It'll force Junk Rites into the wonky-curve midrange game and wreck 4-Colour Reanimator, yes, but Deathrite Shaman is significantly more popular than Scavenging Ooze in Legacy, so I don't predict a drop in Deathrite's price.
scavenging ooze will be pretty damn good.
It's crucial as well that he plays along well with burning tree which will boost those decks a lot. You can play burning tree in a more midrange goodstuff deck with ooze and boar instead of having to go the human route (naya blitz) or the superaggressive red route (Rx aggro).
A maindeckable answer to reanimator surely hurts that deck a lot though, especially since it's just such a good answer. As long as you're not stupid enough to run him out turn 2.
im thinking about using the ooze in goyfs place in my modern deck, since i cannot afford the goyf

Be a lemming hunter. Don't be a lemming. Really, all you had to do was explain to him the popularity metric, not give him the lemming hunter manifesto...
If this guy IS gonna be an M14 Mythic, watch its price soar through the roof. Not only will it affect Standard, it'll have a HUGE modern impact as well.
...I'm gonna take a Standard break for a while, my wallet is already cringing in pain.

ooze is good
it has favorable machups against melira pod and living end some of the most popular decks in the formart.
I don't know if ooze will be >= goyf but in a midrange shell maybe UG he can do the job.
