Another dragon for my collection. And this one isn't on the level of Thundermaw so getting a foil for my collection hopefully won't be too hard. Also I guess this means Thundermaw is out, despite all of the predictions that it would stay.
Dat dragon! I need some new blood in my Jhoira "Dragon Souffle" EDH deck and this guy fits the bill. Plus I'm a fan of the Scourge type of dragon.
I kinda like the Sphinx because it has an interesting design and just seems perfect for a core set. Nice interaction with Niv-Mizzet, which is small but you can have your cake and eat it too when this is in play.
I can't believe anyone is excited about this card. It is absolutely unplayable. I wouldn't even play her in LIMITED. Easily the worst walker printed since the green elf one. Absolutely terrible.
Why do we get another of these sphinxes? These arent like the older ones, that involved at least some guessing or flavorful design. Draw two cards whenever my opponent draws one? Draw when I'm attacked? Draw when a flier goes into the red zone? Where's the flavor?
The dragon isnt too exciting outside of limited
Step 1: Scourge of Valkas
Step 2: Progenitor Mimic
Step 3: Profit!
OH GOD! That's the best combo with Progenitor Mimic out there, since it can actually kill the opponent in a reasonable time frame. curves nicely too.
I kinda wish this thing did a riff on haste by doing damage equal to its power, but I'll deal with it for now. It's a cool dragon, and combos nicely with Dragonstorm.
Though if Theros has an alara-like dragon tribal thing going for it, I'd be super happy too.
Heh, what a self-defeating win-moar condition. A tribal effect that comes down at 5 cmc and needs to come first for full effect, necessary overextension on a tribe of 5-8 cmc finishers. Its just an akoum boulderfoot with flying and firebreathing for a little less than one less mana. Multiples mean diddly in constructed at 5+ cmc when its not retroactive, like demigod. Christmasing out 2 finishers should get you more than what one hardcast Bogardan Hellkite does

Pretty sure that Dragon is just terrible. I am often willing to give dubious Mythics the benefit of the doubt, but come on, a 4/4 flyer for 5 is already pretty mediocre. Unless Dragons is a tribe that fits drops 1-4 in the future, being able to spend 5 mana to do 1 damage is incredibly underwhelming.
The sphinx seems generally good, if you ever cast it. Also, what is with the Mythic 7 drops? 6 is a pretty achievable spot on the curve in many decks, but 7 is a lot more difficult, and hard to justify playing more than a 1-2 of in any deck. Unless there is some pretty crazy ramp or cheating into play type effects, I am having a hard time fathoming how many or any of these see competitive play.
Any chance of getting Dawnstriker Paladin confirmed as well?
What is this card you speak of?
Dragon seems okay for limited. The sphinx looks amazing though. I didn't realize until someone on here mentioned it, but it says ANY creature with flying, so that includes your opponents. That is awesome.

The Dragon seems fun.
Nothing for me here, but solid core set material.

R Daretti, Scrap Savant
BR Olivia Voldaren
BRG Shattergang Brothers
GUR Riku of Two Reflections
WBG Karador, Ghost Chieftain
Trained Condor looks nice.
The Dragon is also ok, though quite surprisingly low-powered for a mythic these days. Had this been mythic in Alara, I could've believed it.

...On the other hand, this is a dragon that can kill stuff like Bob, Tiago, or mana dorks when it ETB alone.
Also love thats Sphinx. Its better than it looks.
I'd rather have Bogardan Hellkite , feels more Mythic

If that's the case I could see a reprint of Crucible of Fire
Spoiler alert! Theros will have 1 rare or mythic and fairly uninspired red dragon per set.
