Seething Song's been printed in 4 sets already. If the point of MM is to increase supply of some cardsm I I doubt it will be in MM. BBE would be more likely, although I'm sure it's been on the DCI watch list for a long time, possibly when they were deciding what was in MM

While that is the point of the set, it`s not like that is the point of every card in the set. They are printing 259 cards? There has to be some filler stuff, cheaper not hard to find cards, especially the commons. There will also probably be a fair amount of cards that aren`t played in decks, or at least very often. Plus as the poster above stated, it helps draft a deck.
Well, technically according to the announcement they ARE supposed to be Modern cards...
Even if the list was locked a while ago they likely were aware Seeting Song and BBE were a problem long before the banning announcements. They likely were on an internal watch list and that is probably justification enough not to include them, especially when those cards are cheap and readily available and really don't need to reprinted anyway.
This. I have no problem with those cards being in the set if it suits the MM draft environment. And I wouldn't mind picking up a couple extra BBEs for some of my casual decks.
My guess is that they weren't in the set to begin with as any card in MM is probly safe from the banlist currently. Wait till after MM releases and then some MM cards may get hit, but my guess is they picked cards they felt were safe in the format, and BBE was incredibly dangerous in extended so I have to imagine it was always teetering on the edge of banning. As other people mentioned about SS is that it has already been reprinted a lot which makes me guess it may not have even been considered for a reprint here. Just my guess overall.
They've spoiled two cards so far. Oh no the sky is falling, we're all getting alladin's rings.
Assuming they reprint a bunch of good cards, i'll pick up a box for up to $10/pack and i know a couple of other guys who will too.
The grand prix will be sweet and if stores get enough to draft with, i'll definitely draft it a couple of times.
If the reprinted cards suck, dont buy any of the product. No point in QQ-ing about a set thats had 2 cards spoiled. One of which is going to be awesome.

why city of brass? that card hasn't seen play since 2004.
I would beg to differ, I've seen select combo and affinity decks in Modern Adopt City of Brass for color fixing. You know, some decks DO run more than 2-3 colors... I wouldn't be surprised to see Gemstone Mine make it into the set too.

Seeing City of Brass should put people in the mindset that we're going to see cards that are staples and cards that are not used as much but are 'iconic'. This makes me think it'll be having more filler than staples.
In the same way you can tell someone is from the XVIII century because he is arroused by ankles, you can tell someone is from USA because he feels nipples disturbing.

Umm, Mana Fixing = Staple...
What's so hard to understand here?
There are recorded decks in the format that use City of Brass, just because Jund or Zoo doesn't use it, doesn't mean that no one does... a LOT of people around my area use it apparently, because I can't find a single copy within 50 miles....

It's an easy find. It's been reprinted to death. 6 printings (not including the promo foil), 5 of which were base sets or Chronicles.
This card is exactly what Mr.Big.D says. Iconic, not a staple.
Is it used? I'm sure. Is it tough to get? Not at all.
I feel this card doesn't need another reprint right now. It just takes up a rare slot. It shows you that Wizards is looking to NOT make this just a staple reprint set, but much more like Chronicles was.
Oddly enough, when Chronicles was printed, City of Brass did need a reprint. lol

Yeah, but keep in mind, the set was designed with draft in mind. I wouldn't be surprised to see CoB at uncommon. Draft needs Mana Fixing. The shocks and fetches won't be in the set, so how would you propose to add mana fixing to a set for drafting taking up as few slots as possible? City of Brass fits the bill.
EDIT: I'm glad CoB is in, and let's say, 10 Signets aren't...

That's true!
I think we will see some filter lands in there. They seem primed for a reprint.
Let's just hope we don't see Auntie's Hovel and friends in it.

I think the filterlands would be fantastic. They actually do get played in Modern, they're starting to creep up in price, and they haven't been reprinted yet. But yes, the tribal duals wouldn't be all that exciting. :/

I highly doubt we're going to see the tribal lands here... MM isn't a tribal set, even though they said we're going to be able to play elves and goblins, I don't think we're going to see any Black elves or goblins... and the list of playable white merfolk is definately lacking... and I don't think there are any modern playable red/white giants... The only Tribal land that could POSSIBLY show up here is Murmuring Bosk... And even then, i highly doubt it will.
I think filterlands at rare (the 5 enemy colored ones) are going to make an appearance. with CoB at uncommon.

Any ideas what the tokens that appear for the first time might be? What token generator is used in modern that doesn't already have a token card for it?

A foil, new art seething song will be great in edh.
Bloodbraid can be in casual decks, edh and legacy.
Big thanks to Rivenor for the sig!!

You must live in a terrible place, I can get any of my magic stuff like this (Commander arsenal, FTV, etc) for MSRP.
Yes. But all cards in MM can be played in other formats.
Just cause Bloodbraid is banned in modern dosent mean everyone who opens one up is gonna be pissed off they cant use it.
I dont play modern at all and i plan on buying 2, maybe 3 boxs of modern masters.
Big thanks to Rivenor for the sig!!

what area of Colorado are you from? cause here in Denver we have lost 5 stores in about a year -2year time frame, with some more on the edge.
Nice mom and pop shops cant stay in business to long if they don't eventually watch out for them selves too.
Price gouging is bad, but giving away money is also bad.

I have 28 different EDH decks
at least promote something exciting and sought after in the last five years or so. something that shouts Modern, not 1998 Type 2.
