Cool. I'd buy a box but not individual packs. I'm interested to see what warrants reprints. I'm interested in any General-worthy legends. New foil Azami and Zur are always welcomed. Also, tokens! I'm very happy about those because there will be Kamigawa Spirit tokens. Hopefully there'll be some special Cat tokens for Jedit Ojanen of Efrava but that's just my pet card.
Modern and Legacy players post bad cards in commander on the Commander's Arsenal thread, so Commander players post bad modern cards in the Modern Masters thread? Nicely done.
Given how expensive the Commander's Arsenal is, I can only assume this will end up being at least $200 per pack. Also, why is Tarmogoyf mythic? It was rare before... I think this is more proof that Wizards is using mythic rarity to take everyone's money even more than they used to. It is sad and probably dangerous for the future of Magic. Also, do you think Kokusho will be reprinted here? I hope so.

$200 for a 15 card pack that retails for $7? Uh ok.

Packs are $7 (or was it $6? Either way, it's not more than $10)
Tarmogoyf is mythic because they don't want the flood the market and decrease the price too much, which would be detrimental to people that already have goyfs (this is the same reason that the reserved list exists). Besides, goyf just feels mythic.
If Wizards is trying to make more money, then I don't blame them. They are, after all, a company that sells products for profit.
I do not think this is neither sad nor dangerous.
I guess Kokusho would not be out of the question for a reprint, but it's not a Modern staple at all.
Too bad those cards aren't really modern playable.
Wizards is bound to reprint some "pet cards" that are in Modern to draw in the casuals. Though the guaranteed foil in every pack should pique their interest. I'm just being realistic. After seeing some of the last few releases I am confident that Wizards will please a lot of people but make certain demographics very unhappy because of manufacturing flubs(e.g. the RtR pack inconsistencies, the multitude of smudged foils from INN block, etc) or design flaws(e.g. RtR's sucky Intro Packs, M13 as a whole).

While this is true, as Aaron said they are designing this set to be intended for Modern players, granted some staples in Modern are also staples in other formats (Thoughtseize, Bob, Goyf, Clique), but the set is tailored toward increasing Modern cards as a whole
Now the tokens, well I want my 3/3 Ape tokens

They also said this set is 100% draftable that means a good 50% of the set might just be limited filler like normal.

Commander's Arsenal has only 10 regular cards and it sells for $250+ so it is not that unreasonable. I know Wizards said the MSRP is $7, but that usually is not accurate judging by the FTV sets and Commander's Arsenal. I don't trust it at least.

How does Tarmogoyf feel mythic? Other than being expensive, it really is not that mythic feeling because there have been several other types of goyf throughout the history of Magic and no one was that impressed with them. People just think this one is mythic to justify spending way too much money on it, which allows Wizards to make an obvious cash grab such as this.
Kokusho is still a really cool modern card so I am glad she is not out of the question for a reprint. That is a card that really feels mythic!

"I'm all for this product, but isn't this sort of the definition of a "money grab" by WotC?"
Not at all. its a $7 booster pack with a guaranteed foil. of cards everyone is complaining that they can't get. its not like they're doing a second CA or anything here. this is exactly how this should have been done IMO. its not like they can just say "we feel sorry for you, let us give you playsets of every card in magic".
No fetch lands makes me a sad panda, but looking forward to more info. Maybe Glimmervoid??
In the future we might see all 10 fetches printed in a set it could happen. It would just have to be a T2 without access to the shocklands or an equivalent.
I wish my 4/4s with haste and first strike that acted as Goblin Warchiefs were better and didn't die to instants and overshadowed all other 4 drops in the format. And that they had evasion too, and some way to dodge wrath effects.

And on the 9th day, Magic players still found something to whine about...
But seriously though... what are people going to whine about now? This kind of shoots the conspiracy "money grab" theories out the window.
fetchlands are from Onslaught. This product goes back until 8th Edition, so sadly... no way.
The people whining are so far down the budget hole that they're already mad they won't be able to save a few bucks up by next June.
Besides those we could see..
Dark Confidant
Spell Snare
Serum Visions (Nice common)
Blinkmoth Nexus
Noble Hierarch
Mutavault
Elspeth, Knight-Errant
Thoughtseize
Firespout
Vendilion Clique
Manamorphose
Not every card will be a 10+ dollar card in the set a lot of them will be extremely solid commons/uncommons.

They have that. It's called boosters from the Innistrad block, M13 and RTR. I hear the MSRP is $3.99 a pack.

But see, it's the good kind of money grab. We get cards on the cheaper, and are happy to throw $$ at Wizards instead of some online retailer.
