I have most of the big money cards, but I love this idea so so so so so so much. One thing though, what kinda stuff will be in the common slots. Some of the uncommons I get, I.e Path to Exile,Kitchen Finks you all catch my drift.... Any ideas?
Pretty excited about this set, both from a Modern standpoint and an EDH standpoint. The only backlash I could see it having is if Modern gets as popular as Standard, and increased demand still spikes prices over increased supply.
At people saying that Legacy won't kill Modern: didn't Forsythe basically confirm that WotC had no intentions of ever supporting it again? Which makes sense, because WotC as a provider should make sure that they can control the cards within their format, and the Reserved List prevents that (Forsythe said quite a bit to this effect in the video).
As long as a Reserved List exists, I can't see Legacy ever being that insanely popular again.
Looking forward to Limited, though. I think that people are vastly underrating the print run that this set is likely to see, even if it is a "limited product". Forsythe said their would be a North American PTQ, and that in itself is hundreds if not thousands of boxes being opened. Not to mention that WotC expects stores to be able to host drafts, and when you're looking at $25-30 drafts (with 1 pack prize support), I doubt they're going to allocate such a low number to make it unbearably painful to happen.
Guys... This is pretty much a real worlds cube draft where you get to keep the rares and have potential prize support. I know if this is 7$ MSRP and isn't absolutely horrible I'll make sure to draft this once a week for quite some time.
I'm sure all the cards that people really need IE: Goyf, Bob etc... will be mythic rares. I don't see this really effecting the price of these cards that much...
I do hope it's not that limited, I want to be able to buy at least 2 boxes at somewhat of a decent price. I would hate to see these be held at local stores to fetch a premium price on ebay and or presell these to locals that have an inside track with the owners.
Hopefully WoTC prints enough so people interested in getting cards for Modern do at the price that WOTC Suggests. I mean damn these limited runs are almost as stupid as limited run Jordans. I don't really feel like camping outside of my local shop to get some product. Just like I don't feel like camping out for Jordans even though I do :(. And sometimes even if you do campout you don't get a pair, then you have to pay the resell price that can be up to triple the regular price.
So here's to hoping we can all get what we need and have a chance at busting open a couple boxes to get started in modern!!!
Then, all the more WOTC should reprint. It is indicative that the secondary market has yet to be satiated. It makes 100% business and common sense for WOTC to make majority of the profit from what is effectively their intellectual rights, not some swarmy resale trader.
The problem with this theory is that if Wizards gets into the secondary market themselves they have to have a pretty high print run. When you have large print runs, you tank secondary prices, and while that may be good for some players, it is terrible for the people who have paid $100 for 'goyfs. Who do you think is a more important player, the person who is committed enough to the game to buy a $100 card, or a person who is new to the game and may not be around in two years?
The limited print run makes the most sense for them. It does lower the price some, which is necessary, but it doesn't tank prices and disenfranchise the people who have been playing the game for 10+ years, the players you know are much less likely to leave the game as long as you don't piss them off.
Why is that art better than my FUT ones -_- Does anyone honestly like the original art? it's a giant brown nothing.
and honestly, they could put a lot of the modern staples into standard (goyf in particular would be average to good in standard with it's lack of card flow) and it would be fine. I like this tho. have to imagine we'll see stuff like spell snare and kitchen finks as well.

Not even slightly interested in this at $6.99. Hell at normal prices it would still be meh. I guess I'm the idiot for already having a job and goyfs/bobs/thoughtseize/fetches.
Too many people are in love with this product already. Give it up, modern is not expensive, also get a job.

The Limited marker is only for this Modern Master set. (Lets just call it Version 1) What is going to stop them from making Modern Master set Version 2, 3 and so forth, in the event of Version 1 selling well ?
Can it be? Can I really trust with such cautious optimism? I don't really buy it so much, but hey, if you are correct then I am happy.

I support this product, and was overjoyed at its release. But you're a *snip* if you think Modern will ever be half the format Legacy is, no matter how hard Wizards pushes it. I may start Modern, but it will always be Legacy's little brother. Everyone wants duals; have any IDEA how many offers and google-eyes I get at my "twisties?" Probably not since you're a whining idiotic child who has never owned a dual, thinking Legacy is going to die because of a product that supports a totally different format. Cry more.
Of course, that doesn't make the person you quoted any less of an *snip*.
Had to defend my favorite format. Sorry if this bothers you, but if it does, you're probably just a person who whines about Legacy being too expensive because you can't play a good format (I am not insinuating anyone's favorite format is bad)
Wizards be praised for goyf reprint. I am also hoping for Confidant, Thoughtseize, etc....even though I own most of said cards I acknowledge the current prices of these cards are absurd.

When Bobs/Thoughtseizes are worth $40 and tarmogoyfs (which you have to run if your deck is green, otherwise you aren't allowed to play) costs $90, it's expensive. Maybe instead of being a prick who thinks he's elite, you could be glad they're trying to grow the modern community.
