The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
Can't wait to draft cards I've never even seen in real life. I imagine always getting my money's worth in normal drafts and usually in the redraft. This seems like a "cool" thing for wizards to do. I don't care about standard, so this is my chance to get awesome cards. Woohoo.

Look, people are still too hopeful and excited to realize this. Some, of course, will just block out the reality. The reality being, it's a small print run, and there's no way everyone will be able to buy as much as they like at MSRP. If the distribution numbers are low, stores will have no trouble selling it at double the MSRP. Think Worldwake, but even more sought after.
Ironically, Worldwake was selling WELL below MSRP when it was first released. Nobody wanted that garbage. Same with Morningtide.

Okay, that makes a lot of sense. It is too bad though. Worldwake was widely printed with only one card that people were really excited about and it is still $10 for a pack that should be $4 at MSRP. This set will be far more expensive than that ever was.

I think it's hilarious that they called this both "short-run" AND "draftable". It's one or the other. If it's short-run, good luck getting enough product to hold a draft.
I plan on pricing these packs at MSRP in my store, unless there's an outrageous shortage because Hasbro is full of a bunch of filth-flinging monkeys who don't understand how the market works. Oh wait...
I started playing during zendikar, so this will only have stuff from sets I have never opened. So cool. I wonder how much I will actually get to open though... I mean, I feel like my store might have one draft that will have to be preregistered months in advance then I will never even see a pack from this set again. Why is forcefully limiting product ever a good thing?
Commander's Arsenal has only 10 regular cards and it sells for $250+ so it is not that unreasonable. I know Wizards said the MSRP is $7, but that usually is not accurate judging by the FTV sets and Commander's Arsenal. I don't trust it at least.
18 cards, all mythic and in short supply. They are also *all* going to be valuable, or so we think atm. It could be that the price drops as the set is revealed.
How does Tarmogoyf feel mythic? Other than being expensive, it really is not that mythic feeling because there have been several other types of goyf throughout the history of Magic and no one was that impressed with them. People just think this one is mythic to justify spending way too much money on it, which allows Wizards to make an obvious cash grab such as this.
Kokusho is still a really cool modern card so I am glad she is not out of the question for a reprint. That is a card that really feels mythic!
At first, I saw, "Only to Alara Reborn? Seriously, you're not reprinting Tiago in anticipation of the time he'll be as overpriced as Bob?"
The Zendikar block fetchlands.
Last time I went to my LGS, Misty Rainforest cost $50.00. Zendikar block hadn't rotated out of Standard back then, and my LGS prices higher than magiccards.info's highest price, but Modern-legal fetchlands still cost about the same as two Kitchen Finks.
It's a nice gesture, but not displaying staples all the way to M13 or Avacyn Restored really blows.
Your LGS price gouges hard then.
also, ITT: after confirmed shockland, goyf, and other staple reprints, people complain that "not enough"
decent idea, but it'll drive up prices of current goyfs, then all the reprinted stuff will increase in price. see the shockland reprints. demand will increase, supply probably won't be able to meet demand, and prices will go up.
Standard. This isn't standard legal, so no increase in price.

As someone with 0 interest in this outside of EDH related stuff, no. There is no confirmed value in these. You might open a goyf and $60, or you might open some jank rare played in a rogue deck. You don't know. Thats the difference, there is an EV, not a confirmed value, and lotteries are harder to gouge with.
I guess OP wants it to be 'keyworded' like "dies" was. What word would you replace ETB with though?
When Aegis Angel is born?
When Huntmaster of the Fells arrives?
When Kitchen Sphinx lands?
When Faerie Imposter busts in?
When Dread Cacodemon pops in?
When Malfegor shows up?
You guys are mostly impossible to please. Wizards just announces a huge product to help with eternal formats and you whine because they didn't put in twenty dollar fetches....Jesus Christ people. I feel bad for wizards.
Goyf, Confidant, Vendillion Clique, Bloodbraid Elf, Thoughtsieze, Original Walkers + Ajani/Elspeth, Tron Lands, Ravager, Serum Visions, Sleight of Hand, Wrath, Knight of the Reliquary, Kitchen Finks, Cryptic Command, Shocklands, Reflecting Pool, Filter lands, Bitterblossom + Grave Troll (if they get unbanned by next year)
And the rest unplayable limited filler?
And goddamn why couldn't this include Zendikar?? Would that have been too much value?

Too many people would have been dissapointed at no mindsculptor, even though hes on modern ban list, also with such a small set they cant include all of modern. 3rd, Modern Masters 2 can happen. :).
Im thinking elspeth 1.0 will be only walker included
shes the only one of the original 10 that is skyhigh
my bad, double post... i is sorry.

Exactly, the Modern fetches aren't even that pricey. Aside from Misty Rainforest and Scalding Tarn (which are about 15-20 now), the rest are right arount or below $10. Fetches are NOT the problem. They WILL go up, however, if Modern does end up gaining popularity, so get them now.
for shocklands, standard is a factor, but remember that shocks were floating in the 10-20+ range anyways, with a decreasing price because people were expecting reprints. otherwise they would still be in the 15ish range. reprinting and getting people into the format will in the end, only end up rising their prices. small supply, potentially HUGE demand.

I speak in sarcasm because calling people ******* ******** is not allowed.
This makes me super happy as the players at my local store where just talking about how we all wanted to play modern but couldnt afford or find things like Goyf or Bob or Damnation, etc. I think this is a fantastic idea.

There are lots of great commons/uncommons they could put in (Finks, Spell Snare, Remand, Terminate etc.). I'm predicting close to 0% limited filler.
