This is a card I've been wanting to make for a long time.
When ~ enters the battlefield, search your library for up to four swamps and put them onto the battlefield tapped. Then shuffle your library.
At the beginning of your upkeep, sacrifice a land.
I'm big into black having big rewards for big risks. An extra 3 land could be very powerful, with amulet of vigor(s), and extra 4 to 16 mana is backbreaking. You have one shot to use this kind of power, otherwise that power will end up killing you.
I like this alot. And it's AMAZING with amulet of vigor.
Although it does seem to fit the color pie for the most part, I'd be worried the mana ramp may be stretching a bit...

Also would be nice with crucible of worlds in some mono black pox build
My card concept:
"unending inquisition". You interrogate the opponent to 'steal thoughts' from them. "mini-game."
Text: At the beginning of your upkeep, choose target opponent. Name a card. That player reveals a card at random from their hand. If that card is the named card, you draw a card and they discard that card.
Cost: one Black or colorless and black (depending on power level as a one drop/two drop)
Conceptually, this is a black mage using his power to interrogate another mage. Asking the right questions will uncover the opponent's secrets, and give you knowledge in return. Goal is to progressively rip away their hand, which black likes to do anyway. The reveal each turn can also set up additional discard, especially targeted discard. It will play nicely with cabal therapy, duress, inquisition, and others. Mechanically, it turns "off" once their hand is empty, which signals that they don't know anything else of value. It makes it harder for them to hold back cards to bluff with.
My only thing I'd recommend is remove the sac to remove counters bit.
It should be something you slowly spiral into and can't get back. Its like a Black version of Mind Unbound.
Agreed. Or at least limit the sacrifice to creatures only, so you can't just sacrifice it to itself if it gets too dangerous.
EDIT: Since I can't submit, I'll just share my idea here. Feel free to submit it.
Concept: A necromancer summons a magical field which causes the dead to rise again.
Mechanic: At the beginning of each players' upkeep, that player returns target creature card from a graveyard to the battlefield under his or her control and loses life equal to its converted mana cost.
Concept:
Death Catalyst: Black Mages deal in death and pain to gain any advantage they can.
Rules:
At the beginning of your upkeep Death Catalyst deals 2 damage to you, draw a card. Sacrifice Death Catalyst and choose one: Each player loses 2 life; each player loses 1 life and draws 1 card; or each player draws 2 cards.
This is my submission.

Leprosy 1B
Enchantment
At the beginning of your upkeep put a contagion counter on target creature.
Creatures with contagion counters are 1/1 and lose all abilities. (Indefinitely)
Creatures dealt combat damage by creatures with contagion counters gain a contagion counter.

Probably not worded the best but I think it's a neat concept for black. It also goes with the greco/roman theme in the coming block of Theros.

Breaking news.
There will be no Tibalt, Tamiyo, Tezzeret, Garruk, Chandra, Liliana, mini-Jace, big-Jace, Garruk again, or Sarkhan in Theros either.
There will also be no Black Lotus.
I may have the wording off a bit but I submitted this:
At the beginning of each players first combat phase, exile all creatures that player controls. Put X 1/1 Zombie Creature tokens with deathtouch into play. At the end of each combat phase, return each creature exiled from ~.
Guess this should say Exile all non-zombie creatures or exile all non-token creatures. Le-sigh.
Mine was:
PLAY STUFF OR START SACRIFICING LAND! 3BB Enchantment
During the beginning of each player's end step, that player sacrifices a permanent.
Whenever a player sacrifices a permanent, gain one life.
I was also thinking something along the lines of:
OVERFLOWING SWAMPAGE! BBBB Enchantment
You may play swamp land cards from your graveyard.
sacrifice two swamps: put a Mire counter on target land
Lands with Mire counters on them are Swamps in addition to their other types.
I didn't submit that last one because I think it's too close to Crucible of Worlds. BUT I still think that Crucible effects should be more black than any other color.
Nothing says BBBBBB like everyone, including you, sacrificing all their stuff while you don't think twice about disposing of your useless minions (Bloodghast, etc.) as your opponents slowly, painfully meet their demise!
Okay, can we all just stop submitting cards that have "pay life for CMC".
You guys realize how freaking broken those are, there's no fair way to cost them really.
Out of the submissions so far I've seen, 50% of them are "pay life to draw", 45% are "pay life to cast something" (both of which are effects that have been done on black enchants an absurd amount of times, and are some of the most broken effects in the game) and the last 5% are at least vaguely useful/cool but tend to be wayyyy overcomplicated.
We can do better than this guys.

Sacrifice a creature: Destroy all creatures with converted mana cost less than or equal to the converted mana cost of the creature you sacrificed in this way.

I really like this one actually. Its like a Ratchet Bomb that's less easy to use.

I'd much rather have one of those than another homicidal seclusion type of card.
I think what we should all do is come up with 1 thing that we all agree on and then have everyone submit the same thing so that way we as a community get a card that we really want instead of wizards picking and choosing something close to what they already have in mind.
Important note: Working together on an idea is forbidden:
By clicking the Submit Idea button below, in exchange for Wizards of the Coast LLC's ("Wizards") consideration of your card comcept and mechanic ("Submission"), you (i) represent that you solely created the Submission
That, and you know what they say. If Wizards started shipping $100 bills in boosters tomorrow, people would scream and cry and whine that they were folded the wrong way.
Doesn't matter what you'd rather have, it matters what they'll actually print.
Well, since they did just print a variation of mana drain, a card banned in legacy and used in vintage, I'm sure they would be okay with printing a form of necropotence or yawgmoth's bargain if it was fixed.

At the beginning of your upkeep put a delirium counter on ~, then draw 1 card and lose 1 life for each delirium counter on ~.
Your maximum hand size is reduced by 1 for each delirium counter on ~.
Sacrifice a permanent: remove a delirium counter from ~.

Discard a Card: Target opponent discards a card.
Exile a card from your graveyard: Exile target card from an opponents graveyard.
~~~~~~~~~
I like how this shows off blacks ability to control the grave and hand. Its helps your graveyard strategies and hoses your opponents.
Its not card advantage since its making players lose cards 1 for 1 but it allows black to show its mastery of these areas of the game.
This would be brutal if you had more cards in hand after a sweeper. I think it has a lot of possibilities.
