It's her face! Her face looks like it was drawn by a semi-talented 12-year-old. It's amateurish and doesn't match her head and body. That's why it looks so off. Ugh, I hope they call an audible and switch it. Although this wouldn't be the first time a normally great artist produced a a planeswalker with lesser quality art than their usual work.
Secondly, the flowing skirt/panels--easily long enough to drop in the lava she's standing over, even with the long (too long?) legs. So why no singed edges or edges on fire?
If you master an element, both you and your pants become immune to it. It's Magic Logic 101
This isn't new art...it is the art from the poster people got at PAX: Link to original post
That aside, not a huge fan of this art. Maybe it is my years of working in children's books but this looks like it should be the cover of a Young Adult novel. Just doesn't look as clear or crisp as other arts we have come accustom to.

Correct, but the name that goes with it is a card name, meaning we now know this art will be used on her M14 Planeswalker card (and we know her card name). You can see some other pieces Winona has created for Magic via those links as well. They are all accompanied by their English card names.
I wish planeswalker art was a bit more creative and risk taking with the art. Why can't we get a chandra card with her blasting through a wall of ice or something better than that

Something similar to Chandra Ablaze? Not a huge fan of that art, but it is definitely more of an action shot than most walker arts.

That's actually my favorite art for any of the planeswalker cards. It's dynamic, shows actual expression and adds depth to the character all in one. I use the full-art pic as the cover for my binder with all of the planeswalker cards.
This art makes Chandra look like Bella from Twilight when she had red eyes. I don't know if Wizards is trying to appeal to the teens that were so gaga about that series. Just my opinion.
Ugh, Chandra, Flamebringer? What a lame name, sounds like a chore-boy name. Bringer of the Flame, would mean the same thing, but at least sound Medieval like. Flamebringer just sounds bad. Bad name + bad art = 2 strikes. The only saving grace now is the card stats and given her previous incarnations...:-/
At first I tried to like this new Chandra art but, it is just not doing itself any favors. I get the arms are foreshortened but, the positioning of them and her body is just awkward not to mention her head seems a bit too big.
The background is a little better being obviously blocked out as a volcano or some volcanic area she is crossing but, the background fades into mixtures of red and black further muddling the image. I just plain don't like this new art for her. I was really hoping for something better than Thunder Thigh Queen that was the M13 Chandra but, man, they dropped the ball on the decision to okay this.
Here is hoping she has better abilities than her M13 counter part.

Had to laugh at this. Made me think her name should be Chandra, Fingerpuller.:)
I think this art will look better on an actual card. The art box will be very dark red and orange and have a good feel to it. Thankfully the godawful positioning of the legs will be obscured by the text box. Good grief.
EDIT: OH WAIT NO IT WON'T! I scrolled down to see a bunch of rocks and lava crap that the text box will be covering. How miserably lame.

Looks better than the horrible melted grate art from the announcement, looking forward to seeing what this core set holds.
Ugh, preach it to the choir. I have disowned that art on my mind. Here's hoping it won't be used for cards and the rest of the Planeswalker arts won't have the same glossified blow up doll-ish treatment.

They couldn't make ANOTHER bad Chandra, could they? I mean, after Tibalt... Planeswalkers just have nowhere to go but up, especially red walkers, right? I am hoping beyond hope that this Chandra is playable in multiple formats without actually breaking anything (similar to Liliana of the Veil).
I don't really have a problem with the name or art, though.
You guys are being way too critical of the artwork (and weird about it) I really don't see the problem with it.
Not really, considering that Chandra's supposed to be more on the tomboy-ish I-don't-really-give-much-about-my-looks side.
That "Melted Gate" art treatment is more fitting for Liliana Vess than Chandra.
Unless, someone in WOTC is going their way on spitting at flavor with this and Emmara "Hulk Smash" Tandris. Before you know it, we'll be seeing Ken Doll Garruk. *shivers*

Then I wouldn't have read how some of you correctly point out the relative lack of detail on her face
Now it really bothers me and I would be none the wiser if I hadn't stuck around this thread for so long

It definitely is one of the better ones
My favourite one remains the original Chandra Nalaar, I absolutely love everything about that card (except that the +1 is only against a player)
EDH is a CASUAL format. Get with the program, or GTFO.
