The Liliana-on-the-throne artwork was the promo artwork used to announce the set. Just like other promo artworks, they're not necessarily meant to be card art.

Despite that (and as much as I'd like to see both Tibalt AND Koth get a 2.0 card), we already know Chandra is the posterchild for M14 and thus it's highly unlikely that we'll get either of those. The real speculation lies with Blue right now due to Jace being the only one already having a 4.0 version.

Judging by how much WotC loves Jace, that means its time for Jace 5.0 already.

I sincerely hope not, as I find their constant focus on Jace to be most annoying; WotC is emphasizing him now even more than they emphasized Urza years ago, although Jace is not nearly as awesome a character as Urza was, because he is not a central character in a multi-arc, millennia-long epic story. Jace has been featured in every core set since his introduction (up to four, now), so why can WotC not omit him from at least one?

Well, without adding a new blue planeswalker, their choices to replace him are Tezzeret and Taimyo, and at the current point in the storyline Tezz seems to be more U/B, plus he's a bit too artifact-y for a core set. It seems they're taking a page from power rangers and sticking with a maximum of 2 females on a team of 5-6 people. Since I doubt Lili 3.0 will be going anywhere after a single appearance, and Chandra appears to be getting the 4.0 upgrade, as much as I'd love to see Taimyo in the core set I doubt she'll make the cut.
We're probably stuck with Jace for a while until they make a new blue planeswalker, shoehorn Ral Zerek into mono-blue, or dredge up Venser's corpse.

I'm sure when we hit Jace 6.0, we'll get some kind of mirror gallery for planeswalkers to make this a reality.
M12 did have 4 dudes though, with Chandra being the lone female. What really strikes me is that Garruk 2.0 gets a third shot at a core set, unless DOTP has us fight against planeswalkers that aren't featured in M14 core set, like in DOTP 2012, where we fought enemies like Tezzeret and Sarkhan.
I honestly would love that lineup for the 'walkers in M14.
Nissa 2.0 and M14 green focusing on tribal elves.
Elspeth 3.0 or even just 2.0. I love Elspeth 2.0.
Liliana 4.0 that blends 1.0 with 3.0.
Chandra 4.0 that dishes out more damage with the + ability.
And Tamiyo 2.0 that let's you retrieve spells and maybe keeps your opponents from casting creature spells for a turn.
And I don't just like this lineup because it's all girls, these just happen to be my favorite 'walkers of the primary colors.

I doubt that Ral Zarek shall ever be mono-blue, just as I doubt that Jace shall ever be another color beyond blue, as each of those characters appears to be clearly set into their color identity. And while I have not yet read any stories featuring Venser, his death was apparently supposed to be fairly dramatic, so reviving him would ruin the significance of his death.

I don't really want new versions of Liliana, Jace, Elspeth, or others who are already highly playable. They already have definitive versions that will likely make future versions disappointing. I'd rather see new exciting versions of current planeswalkers (as in you'd actually want to put them in a deck) or even better entirely new planeswalkers. I am looking forward to the new Chandra though. I've always liked her and want a version that rivals Jace.
I'd like to see all the planeswalkers that were involved in the Zendikar block to get new cards. Nissa, Jace and Chandra are their old colours. Sorin would have to be white, because it certainly wouldn't be Sarkhan, who could be black.
My only gripe is that it makes it less special when they show up in an actual block. Makes me feel like Mickey Mouse is invading my Bugs Bunny cartoons.
I think a lot of the issue is that the more they "re-do" the same five plainswalkers the less interesting the get. I think I've barely played with the last versions of Ajani, Lillana and Chandra and I can't see being excited to open then in the next round an less there's some better support for them.
I remember somewhere in the articles about Gideon 2.0 they talked about how they can't let the plainswalkers stray to far from their "core" character without diluting them (I think one version of lillana was used as a key example)
I honestly probably couldn't even differentiate the M13 Jace from the RTR version other then that the M13 Jace milled you in 3 turns of limited.
I'd like to see some really different takes on each colour identity to so that the core set can show a different side.
I think rotating roles would help to, black should get a "hero" and maybe a more obvious "villian" into white or green.

Does that mean that they may possibly print a better version of Tibalt at some point in the future?

Elspeth, Nissa, Chandra, Liliana and Tamiyo for M14! DO it, WotC!
I'm guessing We'll get Ajani 3.0, Jace 4.0, Liliana of the Veil, a New Chandra, a New Green Planeswalker (maybe Garruk)
UBRKess, Dissident MageUBR - Controlling Dissidents
GRhonas the IndomitableG - Indomitable Four Drops
WUBOloro, Ageless AsceticWUB - Loot & Renanimate

Okay, no, that's dumb.
Maybe we'll get the best iterations of all of them, Lilliana of the Veil and Garruk 1.0 would be pretty sick.
That is very unfortunate, in my opinion, since I am becoming weary of the same five planeswalkers always being printed in nearly every core set.
