If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.
the tag line is: "Ignite Your Spark" Huh, either its just there usual incentive for new and old players alike to get interested in the planeswalkers in the coreset (Chandra #.0, Jace 1337, etc), or they might be focusing on the planeswalker aspect a bit more. My bet is more likely on the "new and old".
It seems like the Core Set/Planeswalkers emphasis has become one of the major parts of their outreach to new players.. with all the video games only having the Core Set available and the campaign designed around battling Planeswalkers.. i mean I love the video game on my xbox and ipad, but it would be sick if they would make cards from expansions available.. I imagine that would detract from the incentive to buy cards in MTG online though.. I just wish i didn't have to buy all the cards physically and virtually to enjoy both play arenas.. Regardless I wouldn't be suprised if the "Ignite Your Spark" theme was used as a way to attract new players as you suggested..
I doubt we'd see both frames, there'd be way too much price gouging on the old frame cards, good lord imagine a foil old frame walker if they were put in packs like Timeshifted cards.
And what would be wrong with that? Who cares if super rare premium versions of readily available cards are expensive?
Thats the best outcome! People who jsut wnat to play, can have access to the cards at reasonable prices, and people who want hte collectors items to chase after have those too!

New and Old is probably what they're going for, since it it's basically saying "hey, get ready, you're gonna be a planeswalker" jive for the tag line.
In the same way you can tell someone is from the XVIII century because he is arroused by ankles, you can tell someone is from USA because he feels nipples disturbing.
I like the concept (nice contrast with the background) but am not fan of the "CG look"
It's possible it's because it isn't highres but Chandra doesn't look drawn in those
In fact it's a bit of trend for drawings to look CG which is fine, but I am not a fan of this for iconic cards (that I almost never use so I guess I'm just nitpicking really); I really love the original art of Chandra Nalaar and none of the follow-ups have been as good I find.
I agree, and I was playing well before the new border. Nostalgia seems to be the main factor in people pining for the old border. More space for art and no weird title font is a bonus IMO.
Reprinting Judge Foils of existing new border cards with old borders is a great touch though.
I can't deny that nostalgia plays a role, but I for me I just think it has to do with the fact that I feel the new frame is just too sterile. It's looking at a piece of CGI and a piece of artwork by say Rebecca Guay, sure one might be cleaner, but the other has much more flavor to it.
Also on an objective note, when taking pictures of cards it's sometimes really hard to tell when something is foil in the new frame unless it has a very evident watermark. With the old frame, thanks to the classy shooting star, even if the picture didn't come out amazingly well you can always tell if it's foil or not.

As a Foil Junkie, I must interject.
I dislike old frame foils *specifically* because they only frame the border (and the star).
Modern frame cards actually use the foil to enhance the artwork and make it "pop"-
Look at a Foil Godless Shrine, Havengul Lich, Faith's Reward, etc.,
and you can see how masterfully they enhance the art with the foiling.
I'll admit I dig the old star, but I definitely prefer the Modern foiling process.
Thankfully, "old school" Foils like Sword of Fire and Ice
and (presumably) Crucible of Worlds use the newer foiling style,
so they're kind of like the best of both worlds.

Why do the new foils always start to curl like that?
Because the foil is only on one side, and it slowly contracts and curls the card over time.
Cards like Garruk Relentless and Huntmaster of the Fells don't curl,
because they have foil on both sides
And I have *plenty* of curled old-frame foils.
It happens over time, but it's not terribly hard to "counterbend" them.
Also, despite the curling, Foils tend to hold up better over time-
the extra layer makes the cards super durable compared to the regular ones.
I can play foils in my decks without damaging the corners during shuffle,
which is a big plus in my book.

I'm actually kinda curious why people want to hose non basics so much. Yes, Standard right now is the richest mana base we have seen in a long time, yes playing 3 colors is nearly as easy as mono colored decks, with 4 and 5 color decks being a reality...so why is this a problem? Do you dislike it when the person across the table is playing multiple colors successfully? Why punish people completely for enjoying a gold set by playing multiple colors? I can see maybe single non basic land destruction being a thing, something like Tectonic Edge, but I will be very disappointed if Wizards prints something like Blood Moon. This is not a fun card to play against, I can not see them reprinting this for the same reason they won't print mass land destruction...It is a step in the wrong direction.
Speaking only for myself, I want to see Price of Progress and Blood Moon (Ruination is funny on occasion, but also too devastating) because I believe there should be risks to make the rewards of easily playing 3-5 colors worthwhile. By risk, I mean in-game, not the risk of spending too much cash to own multiple playsets of good nonbasic lands.
This ties into a broader reason: cost. A stack of basic lands and a playset of the easily-splashable PoP (especially if reprinted at Uncommon) would be far cheaper than the multiple playsets of shocklands and checklands that seem to run rampant in many FNMs and certainly in the upper end tournaments. A cost barrier does exist, and cards such as PoP could make it so those with more limited budgets feel they could compete.
Which brings me to my last reason for nonbasic hate. There are some people, myself included, that find a bit of perverse joy in playing against someone whose landbase alone costs more than a decent laptop computer, and defeating that player through making that landbase a liability. Petty, perhaps, but there it is.
Cheers!
PS - Oh, and Modern frame, black border, no foil versions. This might also be a good reason.

It's your cube. You can put whatever you want in it. If some arbitrary rule you made stops you from putting a card in, get rid of it.
It's his cube. If he want the rule "Modern Border only", then it's not something that you should be bashing him on. There's tribal cube and all that stuff. Cube isn't simply "format with only the best card in mtg", although I'll admit that's what most cube's goal are. If it was, WotC cube fail hard at that.
I myself don't want old border to return. If anything, moving on from modern border to future border in 20th anniversary would be awesome.
I have some old foils, so I must interject and say I prefer old school foils because they don't bend.
Eh, not necessarily true; on the flipside, I have some foils which don't bend all that much at all that are old, some that are bent thoroughly, and some new ones in either boat as well.
Key thing? Moisture. I live in a fairly moist part of the world, so I keep my cards away and covered when I'm not using them.
