Yeah, that's nasty. Turn one Glistener Elf, turn two 2x Mutagenic Growth, attack for 5, Blood, GG. Wow. That's in addition to being able to shrink/kill blockers. I think we're on to something.
So Blood is like fighting, but it's not a fair fight.
If we're doing this without infect...
Turn one land. Turn two Kiln Fiend. Turn three 2x Mutagenic Growth followed by Blood without any attacking hits for 14.
On turn one, you could probably drop something like a Vexing Devil for giggles.
I can read enough Chinese to agree that "Flesh//Blood" is the better translation..in fact the first character is the one for 'meat', and the second the one for 'body', so "meat of the body" -> "flesh" (and if anyone cares, "Blood" is actually 'fresh' 'blood').
So yeah, liking the "Blood" half as a nice alternative to Fling, and a pity that "Flesh" is sorcery speed.

You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.
I wonder if these split cards are telling us which guilds are allied with each other? I hope not, I want my golgari and simic combo.
The pairing guild is random. If you choose golgari the pack may contain one of the 4 other guilds from gatecrash that shares a color with golgari. so, simic, gruul, dimir and orzhov. If you choose simic the other random guild pack could be golgari, selesnya, azorius or izzet.
"Body" is pretty terrible. Five mana to give a dead creature the Scavenge ability? Ehh, no thanks.
"Blood," however, isn't bad. Sorcery-speed Fling where you don't actually lose the creature. Or, if you prefer, one-sided Prey Upon. That's not amazing, but it's a reasonable effect.
I'm guessing it doesn't see Constructed play, but it's at least possible.
the "flesh" side (i am thinking its flesh, not body) is better if it really is a creature in any graveyard though
blood is pretty good, fling w/out losing your dude is good in certain decks.
body is ok, probably too expensive for competitive use but just fine for limited. it's like scavenge fairly priced for any dude.
the "flesh" side (i am thinking its flesh, not body) is better if it really is a creature in any graveyard though
In a translation of the source page (by google translate, at least), the body of the article previewing the card has it listed as "Flesh//Blood", not "body."
That, and you know what they say. If Wizards started shipping $100 bills in boosters tomorrow, people would scream and cry and whine that they were folded the wrong way.
I wouldn't say more situational... just, this is the first one that actually seems designed NOT to be fused. It's central color is Green so having a Scavengable heavy isn't that hard. Especially in Gruul with Bloodrush to make a past turn's temporary boost into a current turn's permanent boost.
I'd put it with Breaking and Entering as 'more commonly played as separate effects.'
This isn't accurate. There's clearly synergy between the halves: make your creature bigger before doing damage based on its power. Just as there is clear synergy between Breaking and Entering: dump cards into a graveyard to increase the chance there's something juicy to reanimate. The entire reason Entering isn't targeted (which seems to have confused some people) is to allow for this synergy, allowing you to choose a surprise turned up by Breaking if there is one, or else allowing you to choose your own reward (or another opponent) if you managed to mill 8 lands...
Not to say that these cards are always going to be played with fuse, but that's the entire point. I think R&D came up with some great cards with this ability, that take advantage of both the split and fuse. Much like entwine, the design is such that you want to have this card for the situational utility of each of its halves, but once you've got that card in hand there's bound to be a situation where you'll use the fused ability for the fused cost - even though you would never have put that card (as a non-split card) in your deck in a million years.
To put it another way: you really think there's never going to be a situation where you use the "Flesh" half, have an extra RG open, but don't think, maybe 10 to my opponent's dome would be a nice addition to my newly 10/10 Thragtusk?
Meh rare. It is a fight card without the downside of your creatures trading. The other half is meh whatever. More likely I will be casting this too early in the game for it to ever matter.
All these split cards are really making me anxious for the Azorius Split Card, and any potential Izzet//Boros Split card.
So if we go by the 2 Clan Split-Cards only be 5 in this set and 6 of the clans are already used....the only remaining card combinations are...
Izzet // Boros
Selesnya // Orzhov
I say this only because so far, both clans have a matching color and Izzet only has 1 clan left for this (Boros). It does leave the WEIRDEST combination ever in Selesnya and Orzhov, but its that only way that makes sense. You could say its trying to create the Shards colors and we could have a Selesnya/Boros split card to honor Naya (since so far we've had a Bant, Grixis, and Jund split card)....but that would leave Izzet and Orzhov COMPLETELY bonked because you'd have a card with 4 Colors on it in UR/WB and I seriously doubt Wizards is going to be that much of jerks.

I've been saying RG Infect was going to be a thing since Ghor-Clan Rampager was revealed. With Blood out, I'm now convinced.
Just want to add that it isn't 5 mana to give a guy the scavenge effect, it's 5 mana to give AND activate a scavenge effect on the guy. How much have we played for scavenge in the past? To give and activate this seems fair.

Reanimator is fast just it
Yeah but at CMC 5 or CMC 2 or CMC 7 the only good way to cast it is the blood part

Much. Body and blood is biblical, and Wizards have had enough trouble with fundamentalist Christians.
Flesh and blood is a more common expression, I honestly think flesh fits the first half better, and fits the number crunch.
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)
Body is terrible

That certainly helps. Maybe some kind of Jund deck along the lines of that Gyre Sage + Increasing Savagery thing wants it.

This needed to be an instant.
So far it looks like we might only get shard-colored split cards, no wedge ones. I hope that we see some wedge cards spoiled though.
Ingredients: Dungrove Elder(s), Lord of Extinction(s), Flesh//Blood
or
1 Gladecover Elf in play, 1 Lord of Extinction in the yard, 1 Flesh//Blood
Have fun!
