When you walk in to a Dragon's Maze Prerelease, you'll get to select your favorite guild from among all of the ten guilds of Ravnica! That guild pack will have a secret allied guild, which will share one color with your chosen guild, and also always be from the opposite set as your chosen guild.
So let’s look at an example: You’re a Dimir player, so that’s the guild you pick. That guild pack might have Return to Ravnica's Azorius as its secret ally (although it could also be Izzet, Rakdos, or Golgari). That guild pack would have four Dragon's Maze booster packs, one Gatecrash Dimir guild Prerelease pack, and one Return to Ravnica Azorius guild Prerelease pack. The two guild packs will be the same as they were in their original Prerelease, but will not have that set's Prerelease promo for those guilds. The guild Prerelease packs will contain the Dragon’s Maze Prerelease promo but not a Spindown life counter, sticker, or guild welcome letter.
One Prerelease Card
Everyone who plays in a Dragon's Maze Prerelease will get the same alternate-art promo foil card, while supplies last. This card will not be playable in your Prerelease deck.
No Basic Land in Booster Packs
Wait... that sounds kind of negative. Let's rephrase it.
Dragon's Maze Booster Packs All Contain Nonbasic Lands
That's better! The fifteenth card in all Dragon's Maze packs isn't basic land; it's nonbasic land. All ten guildgates will be showing up (with the Dragon's Maze expansion symbol), as will all ten shocklands from Return to Ravnica and Gatecrash (with their Return to Ravnica or Gatecrash symbols). You are about half as likely to open a shockland in Dragon's Maze as in Return to Ravnica and Gatecrash and, since this is for all ten shocklands rather than five, that means you are about a quarter as likely to open a specific one. There's also a mythic rare land from Dragon's Maze that will show up there sometimes!
The Maze
There's also a maze! Players (that's you) will work collectively to advance their chosen guild through the Implicit Maze each round. There are prizes for each guild that gets all the way through the maze, and special prizes for the first guild that does it. And when the maze is completed, all participating players will receive a premium (foil) basic land promo card!
Picking from all 10 guilds sounds awesome as well.

If your deck is 60 cards then you're playing with the best possible odds. 61? Probably won't alter your odds too much but we all know that 96% pure meth won't cut it next to Heisenberg's 99%.
I'm alittle confused with their wording. Are they saying that the land will be nonbasic in ALL booster packs, or just the prerelease packs? Also I'm guessing that the 20 land does not count toward the card number for the set.
I'm wondering if the maze is the achievement cards and when players complete them they will advance their guild one space on a board or something to that effect.
First thing I thought of. What is worse than a $6 Temple Garden? A $3 Temple Garden
Modern being the third expensively exclusive eternal format seems a bit worse.

I'm assuming that the "built to support two different guilds" bit means "built to support one Return to Ravnica guild and one Gatecrash guild, which share one color."
I'm confused. Are the gates/shocks getting reprinted in the actual Dragon's Maze set, or just the guild packs? The wording of the article makes it sound like the former, but the context of the statement makes it sound like the latter. Everything in the article is about the pre-release, so it seems like it would be random to make an announcement about the contents of the actual set. I think they're just giving us more fixing for purposes of the prerelease.
Its official Wizards has gone crazy with Dragon's Maze Prerelease. Also the booster packs are for all or just the Prerelease? If all then Shocks just became very cheap. Now To figure out what they mean by Each guild pack will SUPPORT 2 guilds.

The shocklands will have their respective Ravnica/Gatecrash symbols, implying that they'll show up in guild packs, but not Dragon's Maze boosters. Kind of odd that they'd do that, but the more shocklands the better, I guess.
The guildgates having the DGM symbol, on the other hand implies that they will indeed in boosters. Also odd, given that that takes 10 slots in a small set. But whatevs.
Further Speculation: Since we'll be seeing the gates in DGM, they'll almost certainly have new art. Like the Innistrad basics and the Scars block basics, I'm betting the new art will show some sort of change to represent the third act twist- perhaps the guilds will indeed fall and we'll see wrecked guildgates?
I think WOTC will be nearing, once again, the overcomplexity that came from Time Spiral Block Limited with DGM/GTC/RTR Limited. It actually hurts my brain thinking about the mountains of archetypes and sub-strategies that will sprout in Limited tournaments across the community. I guess the upside to that is, if you want a specific strategy, there are 2+ decks to fit your needs! I was hoping DGM would be my 10- year-old brother's first prerelease but it looks like it will be very diverse and very confusing so that sounds like a terribad idea.

The wording of the post seems to imply to me that regular Dragon's Maze booster packs will have a chance to contain shocklands, not just prerelease packs.

If that's your "casual," what on earth is required for "formal," a butler in livery shuffling the decks whilst a pianist plays Brahms in front of a tapestry?
I was just talking to a fellow at the prerelease today. I said that they wouldnt have ten guildpacks available. Boy was I wrong! So I am a little confused as to what packs will be in it. And when it comes to being able to support two guilds, I am thinking each guild will have its shard?
I wish my 4/4s with haste and first strike that acted as Goblin Warchiefs were better and didn't die to instants and overshadowed all other 4 drops in the format. And that they had evasion too, and some way to dodge wrath effects.
Holy crap, shocklands are being printed again? That's insane.
I'm excited to finally get into modern!

Having Gates in almost every pack is huge for drafting. Seems like three-colour will be almost expected as opposed to merely sometimes possible.
Picking from all 10 guilds sounds awesome as well.
