I've always seen it the other way too. There are numerous relentless rat decklists here. I think that's the official stance, but even if it's not I doubt anyone would give care.
I mean, legacy limits you to 4 of a card. So why can you play more than 4 there?
Has anybody mentioned the Unruly Mob, Gather the Townsfolk and something else to the side of it that looks like it has a casting cost of only W and isn't a creature?
Except you're only allowed one Shadowborn Apostle in your deck in EDH?
EDH rules also limited Relentless Rats to one per deck, Format rules overrule card text like that...
Still, it's a nice design, I could see a wonky Immortal SErvitude combo deck popping up with these. if we get more than just one demon in the core-set...
Pretty sure a singleton format only allows one per deck...
Nope. That is an old ruling. Cards that override deck construction rules override format rules. You can run any number of Shadowborn Apostle in a Commander deck, because it's ability overrides the limit.

Everyone knows that good luck and good game are such insincere terms that any man who does not connect his right hook with the offender's jaw on the very utterance of such a phrase is no man I would consider as such.
Does anybody else besides me think it's silly we're getting M14 spoilers before DGM spoilers? I mean I'm not saying it's in anybody's hands but WotC's here, I just think that 'silly' is an appropriate word to use here.
As for the Apostle itself, I play Izzet Staticaster and considering Echoing Truth and Maelstrom Pulse are also cards, I can't see this card making waves anywhere aside from the kitchen table maybe.

There isn't any Demon that is worth this. Except maybe GriselBANNED.

you can generally tell the easiest road to victory by how many players congregate on it; and the road of counterspells/control has been the freeway of choice in magic for quite some time.

What I find offensive is not that Wizards is endeavoring to make the game more accessible, but the attitudes of elitists who act as though no one of any age should show their face in the Magic public without first having mastery over the complexities of the game.
I use the Duels Of The Planeswalkers layout, though I'm right-handed and keep my deck and GY to the left. I dare you to ask me how tempting it is to hold flying creatures in a floating pattern over the table.
This card is obviously intended to combine with Shadowborn Demon, which I like, but I severely dislike how it allows a player to have any number of cards by that name in their deck. The "four-card limit" rule was established for a reason, and it is severely detrimental to the game overall, in my mind, if that rule is broken.
Also, it is not odd that there have already been several cards from Magic 2014 revealed before any cards from Dragon's Maze have been revealed, despite the fact that Magic 2014 shall be released two months after Dragon's Maze?

This card seems like it was practically tailor made for Bloodbond March. Sacrifice the initial six, search for a Rune-Scarred Demon that searches for the Bloodbond March. Lifeline would be another good option for repeatable tutoring.
Desperate Research could be a nice way of getting those initial six creatures and refilling your hand.

Do you not know about Relentless Rats? This rule was already broken back in 2004.
Now this is some unexplored common design space. I didn't really like Relentless Rats being uncommon since that makes it harder to get a lot of them, but this one is going to be much easier to get. It's also more interesting (and difficult) to build a deck around: just how many of them do you need? How many demons do you include?
I figured it was just because that demons enjoy the good ol' 666 number. Makes sense to me. I wouldn't mind a good Hex though.
Also, I hope we get more demons to satisfy this guy. Hopefully a good Rare demon to match!

What if Hex gets reprinted? What if we get 3 cards in black that refer to the number six explicitly?
It all adds up to our lord and savior Chimney Imp being reprinted. I can feel it.
edit: Why Hallow there...
...also, having that in m14 would indicate at least a few direct damage spells in m14, so it isn't a dead card in m14 draft.
and why the hell is the fateful hour mechanic being mentioned next to core set cards?

That is clearly the deck these guys were meant to be played in.

Sphinx of the Chimes
The Sphinx deck is pretty cool. Since the Apostle costs just 1 mana, it makes for better Dread Return fodder than Relentless Rats.
