They can't make cards strictly better than a card already printed, kind of like Far//Away, both sides cost one more than the actual effect of the original cards (UnsummonDiabolic Edict). That being said, Profit//Loss should not be a better versions of Infest/CARD] and Guardian's Pledge tacked onto one card. Also, you say for one more mana, you can cast Elesh Norn, but is she an instant? Can you cast half her static effect for 3 mana at instant speed?
WotC says they won't make the split cards strictly better versions of previous cards, but the Loss side of Profit//Loss is already better than Cower in Fear and the Dirty side of Down//Dirty is a strictly better Recollect. I can see that Cower in Fear was a bad core set card that won't be taken into account when making future sets, but they did just make a strictly worse Regrowth in the form of Treasure Find, so I guess they are making the regrowth effect something you should be able to do at around 2.5 mana.
And I agree with you on how Profit//Loss should have been +2/+2 and -2/-2, but: The cost should be increased to 3W and 3B, the effect should have been decreased +2/+1 and -1/-2, or it should have been a sorcery. I think the reason why they kept it to +1/+1 and -1/-1 was to remind us of Orzhov Pontiff, so I won't blame them for making this sort card, but it sure is underwhelming after seeing Zealous Persecution.
You have to remember these cards were designed a long time ago. Wizards saw how dominant Delver was in many formats (and it's still a force in Legacy) and Skylasher is clearly designed to eat Delver.

Recollect was too weak. It had its 4 years in standard and has been gone since Xth since it didn't show much promise anywhere and in limited, it's just a really overcosted Raise Dead.
any idea as to why the person who opened the fat pack has not posted the whole set yet? They get 1 of those player's guides with the whole set with pictures in it right?

Better question: Why have we seen the mythic and not the real badass, the spider?
Because you don't see spiders man! You just never do, not till it's too late man! Once you see it, you go 'oh crap man, that's a spider' and it shanks you with a scalpel it was carrying man! That's just how it works!
Ash Zealot has been a flop so far, though I'm assuming she'll find her deck eventually.
I wouldn't say it's so much Ash Zealot flopped as much as BTE was a huge success, and you can't unfortunately chain BTE into Ash Zealot. If it weren't for the printing of BTE, I'm pretty sure a lot of people would just be playing RDW splashing green for Rancor, with 4x maindeck Ash Zealots. I mean, Strangleroot Geist went from a standard staple to a near forgotten card.
And for all those saying blue died when Jace got banned, I seem to remember Delver being a significant part of the metagame last year. I mean, I'm a blue player, but I don't think a year downswing is the end of blue. My advice is if you enjoy blue's style of play, find a deck that fits your style, understand it might not be able to dominate every tournament, and play it. If you want to dominate every tournament, then you are a spike and should learn to play a different style of deck. Maybe that's the point, for those who are dedicated spikes to open their minds to different colors.

Sorry, I meant just this set, as in DGM. Voice of Resurgeance and Skylasher are both designed to hate on different sides of Blue decks. What is truly lame is that they can both be played in the same deck.
:1mana::symg:: Card is an eternal format staple, banned or restricted in the few formats it is allowed in, extremely valuable as a JR promo.
:2mana::symg:: Card is worth a few cents and no one plays it.
Mana cost is everything, actually costs in any form are everything in Magic... There's a reason people play Lightning Bolt and Not Searing Spear if able. ABRU duals > Shocks. Lighting Helix > Warleader's Helix. Fireblast > Flames of the Bloodhand> Char = Flame Javelin > Lightning Blast. Force of will > Counterspell > Cancel
I use the Duels Of The Planeswalkers layout, though I'm right-handed and keep my deck and GY to the left. I dare you to ask me how tempting it is to hold flying creatures in a floating pattern over the table.

It's restricted in Vintage, anyway. Of course, all the vintage players say even if they could run more than one, they'd still probably run one copy. I've never seen it in a Legacy decklist even though it's been legal for years now. It's place on the restricted list is a relic from ancient times back when it got hammered for making the restricted list pointless since you could reuse your overpowered card over and over. Nowdays, Vintage is streamlined, not "I have power!!! lolz"
It's extremely valuable as a judge promo because that's the only foil and it's popular in Commander. (where it's far from overpowered) Regrowth was worth less than a quarter a few years ago before Commander got really popular.
anyone remember the hype when manaplasm was wrongly spoiled at :1mana::symg::?
... anyone remember manaplasm?
i remember him and still think of him as one of my all time favorite cards. Mostly because he served me well in a deck that never got me below 4th in my local FNM all 8 weeks i played it. chaining lash outs and souls fires with it on the field was so much fun. and using evoke elementals and flame javilin/ towering above made him awesome.
only thing i couldn't beat was stupid fairy decks and went 75/25 against jund assault decks
I wonder if dual casting + ready will be a combo deck. it can come out much faster than any of the dead eye navigator combos(in magical christmas land as early as turn 3) but it requires 1 or more mana dorks/keyrunes plus a target for duel casting. Definitely not a tier 1 deck but interesting none the less.

saying hate bears never work is saying these cards don't get played. skylasher may be in a smaller niche, but you will see it.

the only things that really kill archetypes are rotations and bannings. hate cards in general are meant to balance the metagame, not re-define it.

sorry sirs but i think all the cards can be spoiled if he has the Player's Guide handbook or collector's checklist... spoil all the cards now please.
Then say what you mean. Don't make it so we have to guess what you mean. This guy is actually quite decent if you think about it.
New to Commander? Read the Above article.

There is buried treasure everywhere...in a graveyard.

Regrowth isn't banned in Legacy at the moment. I think it's only restricted in Vintage because of Time Walk, Black Lotus, Ancestral Recall, and company.
