Well pauper is a format
Also non of the mythical cards really stand out with a "wow" factor
I would say That Selesyna produces a wow factor...but I'd have to agree with you mate on the rest. I like Ral Zarek a lot though. but largely underwhelming mythics. Also the Rakdos one is nice too.
All in all I like the set and look forwards to seeing more Izzet cards. I like standard and want to get into standard. I like every color as well...So no preference. Although I am an Izzet mage, but I am still looking for a solid strat for them.
EDIT: The simic one is amazing as well. I hope to see a standard worthy simic deck.
This card is going to be a power house in limited and at common it is bound to be played often.
The only thing that I don't understand about this set is that so far they haven't really spoiled cards with the guild mechanics, no new overload or extort cards yet. I would have expected that at this point with more than half the set spoiled we would have seen a few spells with each guilds keywords. What's up with that wizards? That's very disappointing so far.
I fear I won't have much time to play Magic these days.
I get to watch worlds develop around me.
I get to watch great leaders, terrible oppressors, and trend setters rise and fall.
Limited, Standard, Modern, everything is a different playing field I feel I can observe, but will not actually touch.
I look forward to the stories I will hear.
And more so to the ones I will watch unfold first hand.
Isn't the unknown exciting?
Correct. A fused split card is cast as a single spell when you play both halves at once. That's why it's called "fuse."
Your new avatar/flavortext makes me giggle.

A bit of a log jam at that CMC when building an Izzet deck.

Definite high pick in draft, 4 toughness is the magic number in this environment thus far. Already daydreaming of pairing him with frostburn weird, lobber crew, and guttersnipe... just add instants!
I'm not completely sold on this guy even in limited. Granted, he's a solid defender, but I don't see him attacking for 4 all that often given Izzet's card pool. I could be wrong, but most of the Izzet spells are defensive in nature, allowing you to cast them on the opponents turn. I admit I didn't draft much Izzet though in RTR.

Then your instant stuff turns him into a living combat trick, possibly killing an X/4 or an X/7 while defending.
Will they even risk attacking you with your lands untapped and cards in hand? You might be able to bluff a few combat steps to buy time.
Wow, I wouldn't have known it was Wayne Reynolds' work if not for the artist credit. It's the polar opposite of his usual "I M COMIN AT U BRO" depictions.
Liking the card even though I'm not much of an Izzet player.
I loved Kiln Fiend when it was in standard and I love this card as well. Love the art, love that it's izzet. Love the the fact that it is 4 toughness. Love it all.

There are 10 types of people in this world, those that understand binary and those that don't.
good card is good. Pillar of flame/unsummon some blockers away, then swing for 4-7? yeah seems terrible... Why so many haters on sally these days?
Funny thing is the fact that this guy and teleportal = ouchies. Infact, dyna charge his ass in the same turn and thats 10 to the face, unblockable. Doable by turn 4 too.

There is buried treasure everywhere...in a graveyard.
Reasonably high limited pick, as long as you can get the spells to activate it on the regular. If you've got a fairly standard 14+ creature deck, he might not be worth it.
As others have said, he's more likely to be a surprise 4/4 blocker than an attacker, but he seems fine in a controlling build. The times you get to swing with him are just gravy.

Pretty sure that doesn't work, does it? When you fuse, it only counts as a single spell.

R Citizen Cane (Feldon of the Third Path)
The art is good, it's powerful (for a common).
I could even see this being played in Standard to stand up to Naya for a little while.
Thanks to Heroes of the Plane Studios for the amazing sig.
NO RUG: Primer

Also, the spread of arms in the Wayne "Spread Your Arms" Reynolds artwork doesn't look so prominent and forced as usual, great!

Reminds me of Frostburn Weird, with a little extra punch. Great on the defense when you want it, hits real hard when you're ready to make a move.
