The center of the photo could have been the target of the auto-focus, so everything moving away from that reading point could diminish.
It is possible that darker greens vanish completely while lighter greens preserve, even become more prominent.
Color, especially when shooting under incandescent or fluorescent, is very finicky.
So why can you still see the green clearly at the bottom near the power / toughness?
Regarding those who say the border/frame color is an issue, I think it's mostly due to poor lighting and the fact that Black and Green (especially up against the dark background of both arts when Valroz is compared to Jaraad) tends to look like black.
Now to me, both cards, the lower part of the nameplate seems to be straight black, partly because of shading, partly because the gold is similar to the green, and partly because the top of jaraads and valroz's art is a dark greenish black. If they both had bright blue skies behind them and then one was off, it would be more believable. When we get to the top of the creature types however, both are the same in that there is a clear split, as with the top of the name box. Valroz's background is going to make it really difficult to see that G/B split especially at such a low resolution picture.
This would be kind of funny if this WAS the actual Varolz card and Wizards leaked it on April fools day on purpose. They assume that we would automatically think fake but in reality it isn't which is the real troll move...
I would love for this to be real, but that set symbol is just awkward. I mean, part of it is practically under the 'r'. Sen Triplets didn't even come close to that.

Based on the reactions I've read so far, the assumption that we'd thoroughly dismiss it as fake is failing...
kkk just remembered the lack of aurelia domri borbo EtInfinite and helkite tirant
all people calling it a fake and they where legit
When I read that thread, I thought I saw far fewer claims that they were illegitimate than in this thread. (Granted, this thread doesn't quite have Rootborn Defenses levels of dissent.)
None of this actually says anything about the card. True things have come out of 4Chan before. The card type will be Troll. And true things have come out on April 1st before.
I am not saying this card is real. All I'm saying is what you presented is not an argument for it being fake.
Of all the unspoiled champions (9 total) or other Dragon's Maze cards (over 200), it was Varolz that leaked today. I'll repeat: of all the possible champions or other Dragon's Maze cards, the Troll Champion was the spoiled card.
On April Fool's. On 4Chan.
I mean, seriously. How can this NOT be an April Fool's scam?
I find it hilarious how the mtg community seems to be 95% made of the guys that will call even a mothership spoiler "FAKE!", and the guys that will believe every single thing that gets spoiled.
Oh and if that isn't enough evidence, consider the fact that this ia a 4/4 indestructible guy with upsides. This is too good. There are not enough exile/can't be regenerated effects in the format to allow a 4/4 for 4 with that ability. If it was smaller and could be ignored, sure, but how do you deal with this guy without some very narrow answers? This can't be real.
And it isn't, because it's a Troll Champion spoiled on April 1st by 4Chan
Reasons to be suspicious:
1) Low-quality image framed such that we can't see the artist's name or collector number, which are things that could relatively easily be confirmed as false if a faker got them wrong.
2) It's April 1.
NOT reasons to be suspicious:
1) Creature type - troll. We already knew this guy was going to be a troll.
2) The expansion symbol's in the wrong place! No, it's in the correct position. Compare to the p/t box, or to the type line on Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius (bearing in mind that the expansion symbol for DGM is a little wider than the symbol for RTR).
3) The set symbol crosses under the text on the type line! This is fine, and not unprecedented. See Thalia, Guardian of Thraben.
4) Anything to do with rules templating... the wording of the text box is flawless.
5) It's on 4chan. Real leaks have shown up there in the past.
Sort of a reason to be suspicious but not really:
1) Activated Deathtouch on a creature that will always be 5/5 or larger when you can activate. This is kind of weird, and deathtouch on big creatures is something design has specifically said they avoid... but it does happen. Grave Titan, for instance, has deathtouch because all the titans were given an in-color ability in addition to their EtB/attack triggers, and they didn't want to give Grave Titan anything too good because of power level concerns. I wouldn't read too much into this one, but it is definitely unusual.
Evidence for it being legit:
1) None, really, because the name, art, and set symbol are all already out there on the internet... except that there doesn't seem to be anything actually WRONG with it, and fakers usually make more mistakes.
---
I've seen some other claims about font, mana symbols, etc, but nothing very persuasive given the picture quality. There's really no way to know. It could very, very easily be fake, but if someone forced me to take a side, I'd have to go with "real" at this point.
Even though you say too good it is legendary which allows them to really push these guys.
This is the era of creature power creep. People don't like their **** getting killed. New players just don't understand core mechanics of the game so they make crap like this to pander to them. Nothing new.
If I did't made a blunder it's impossible to rotate a card in any way so the art would appear larger. Thus the card would be fake.
Opinions?
Given that even Legendary Artifact Creature — Human Wizard didn't overlaped with the expansion symbol (the "r" is above the symbol) + the minor problem with the color of the frame I suppose this is fake.
Imho it's also more likely that someone from 4chan came up with troll-trolling on 4.1. than WotC. WotC even puts "look at the date" on their pranks.
I also agree that the power level is a bit too high even in this era of creature creep, I mean a 4/4 for 4 that regenerates and grows for no activation cost that also death-touches anything it tussles with?
Seems harder to deal with than Thrun, and Thrun was pretty pushed to begin with.
Vividice posted their comparison of the art while I was typing my summary, and that's pretty interesting. The scale between the two images is definitely NOT the same. The Varolz image is on a larger scale than the Thrun image, which contributes to the artwork seeming larger... but it's not clear to me if it's enough to explain the discrepancy.
Vividice, how about shrinking the Varolz image (or blowing up the Thrun image) to make the artwork match, and seeing how the text boxes compare? If it's at least pretty close, it could possibly still be argued as some sort of trick of perspective or whatnot, but if you have to rescale one of the images to some ridiculous degree to make the art match, that should settle it.
If it's fake, it would be weird if it ends up getting disproved like this... getting the art box to the right size is trivially easy compared to some of the other things you'd have to do.
NOT reasons to be suspicious:
1) Creature type - troll. We already knew this guy was going to be a troll.
What makes the rational players suspicious is not the fact that Varolz was spoiled as a Troll. That was a given, that was obvious. What makes us suspicious is the fact that the spoiled card was the Creature - Troll one, instead of any of the other possible spoils.
Of course we all knew that Varolz was a Troll. What smells fishy is that, coincidentally, we got the Troll Champion spoiled on April Fool's. Why did it *have* to be Varolz? Of all the possible spoils, it's just too much coincidence that the fishy spoil released on April Fool's by 4Chan is the Troll Champion.

This is also April Fool's day where anything can happen due to the extreme lengths people go to troll others.
If my original theory about the reverse psychology April Fool's day prank is true, it kinda be like the boy who cried wolf too many times

I did the bolding. I (as well as everyone else) don't know if this troll is real or not. However, I have to strongly disagree with your thoughts on this card being too good. I find it funny that the next poster posted Thrun, the Last Troll in the very next post. I find these cards to be very similar except Thrun is boss-play against control and Varolzs' only trick over Thrun is that you don't have to tap mana to regenerate.
Thrun survives versus tempo, counter-magic and all targeted effects. He fails to tapping out when your opponent wraths.
AFD Varolz survives versus targeted removal and wraths. He fails to counters, bounce spells, and exile effects. He also costs BG instead of GG.
They both die to sacrifice effects if they're soloing it.
If you read the text on the card, you will see that for the activated ability ("Remove a +1/+1 counter from Varolz: Varolz gains deathtouch until end of turn."), they abbreviated the name of the card to just "Varolz". I thought the name of the card was always spelled out?

I believe it would be: "Whenever [Cardname] would be destroyed, regenerate it and put a +1/+1 counter on it."
Or: If [Cardname] would be destroyed, instead put a +1/+1 counter on it."

Umm, it was about 50/50 on who thought those cards were fake and who thought legit.
I was convinced they were real the second I saw them. It wasn't like everyone said they were fake.
Feel free to bid on my cards here!

What makes me think (hope?) that it is fake is the fact that it is too good.
