silverblade + spark trooper seems like the nuts. T1 champion, t2 thalia, t3 silverblade, t4 spark trooper, GG?
I think the real question is will this take the spot of hellrider. I'm also not too sure how good this will be with all the first strikers seeing play in other aggro decks.
IMO Hellrider is way better atm, more consistent and it does fits Boros aggro strat without having that glaring 1 toughness and it being sacrificed
To make the trooper work you are gonna need to attack in with something like frontline medics and another card to proc the battalion effect on turn 4

How am I an Ascended Mage? I only play tabletop casual, and I dont even know if I'm playing the game correctly
Perhaps Omnibob would go well in a UBR Delver deck. Imagine 4 Delvers, a good suite of discard and burn, with Think Twice and Snapcaster. Then, you drop Omnibob. You should be able to take over the game from there.
Well I just double checked it each guild got 4 rares in RTR and all of gruuls have been shown now so the only good fatty we got was the guild leader as I doubt we get something better at uncommon than the 4/4 for 4.
There's still technically an unspoilered Red rare that could be a Gruul beastie.
(It still bothers me to no end that some guilds get a rare in each of their component colors in addition to their multicolored rares, but other guilds do not.)
Yeah which is why it bugs me that Ragebeast doesn't have trample or haste though with his ability you might not need the trample but its very iffy. And I guess we got screwed with getting a walker too.
Spark Trooper is amazing! Exalted and these will win games. Being a soldier makes this thing even sicker! Also Mimic Vat and Spark Trooper is pretty cool.
You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.
Problem still exists that it is a beneficial trigger for your opponent. That is why people are badmouthing it. There is also no basilisk collar in standard atm so I am not sure what deck doesn't care about life, but with all the successful aggro decks out there I would be pretty concerned.
Then you realize the good cypher spells are pretty much overcosted and will kill you if you draw them with his ability.
Technically not. You can cast the one that taps one of their creatures down 2CMC, then tap another one down with 4 comming up top to a cypher'd 4/4 flyer.

and not even a great walker. i hate that they spoiled a rare slot on the beast when it's ability is very similar to domri's 2nd ability. lazy design on wizards' part.
if the beast were say, a cheaper smaller shaman, i could see it being playable. it would be so cool to play an acidic slime and kill two things early enough to matter. what's up with the copious amout of 7cmc creatures?

You could play this with Hellrider. As for the first strikers, if they are still there when you drop Spark Trooper, something went wrong.
Duskmantle Seer looks like it's going to be awesome. It tops out a curve well and provides you with a steady stream of cards. Unlike Howling Mine and many of its ilk, you'll be in a better place to make use of your extra card. Through great deck building the disadvantage of losing life can be mitigated reasonably well, while making it an extra source of damage against control decks. While he may not create immediate value, there's a lot of good ways to break the symmetry of this card- Liliana of the Veil into this seems like it could be nightmarish for some decks.
Spark Trooper made me smile when I read it. Totally awesome design, could be Standard playable; it's an excellent sideboard card for some aggro mirror matches.
Gruul Ragebeast looks great and Limited and decent in Constructed. Being big enough to fight and kill Angel of Serenity might make it playable.

You have Kessig plus all your creatures turn to removal and uncounterable pump spells.... I think he's an awesome card and will see considerable play in Ramp strategies.
Duskmantle to me seems like the most playable standard card yet. THe reason for this is that if your gonna play the card you're gonna play it in a deck that will be playing lots of low mana cards and hopefully have a lifelink engine. I'm thinking that it could round out a Delver curve real nicely but thats just me.

If you're gonna come at the King, you'd best not miss.
Really looking forward to trying out that Spark Trooper in my Boros deck. Looks like this is the thing that makes me finally buy the set of Silverblade Paladins I've needed for so long.

i'm not sure i'd ramp into the beast only to pick off their creatures one by one. and by the time i've ramped into this guy, i imagine i've already overextended. that doesn't seem very feasable to me, but what do i know? i'm no pro.

I think they don't want another Prime Time to happen in Green again so they seem to be staying away from 6cmc.

Good point I guess theres no reason not to run him in a ramp deck and with Signal we won't be wanting 4 anyway as we would only want 4 of the best drop.
Duskmantle Seer seems like a downgrade compared to other options under most circumstances while being a mythic . Almost feels like this is due to a card yet to be spoiled that helps turn your opens extra card into more of a disadvantage for them.
At least in Standard we've gotten a lot of useful low CMC Blue supports (Blue Overloads in RTR mean Cyclonic Rift and Blustersquall, Syncopate, Index could find a home here scripting your draws so the higher cost things are on your draw, and lower costs are on your upkeep) to help make Seer a bit more effective.
Whispering Madness is another CMC4, but if you encode it onto Dimi Keyrune for safekeeping, then swing with it on any draws of extra problem? Not saying that Seer will completely reconfigure a Top 8, but it isn't without its toys.
I'll hang on to my hope for Gruul stuff in the 3-4 cmc slot. Everything so far is so big and swingy. Just look at three of my favorite cards from Gruul 1.0:
i can totally see the seer being playable if you can control the top of your opponent's deck a la dimir charm. " at the end of turn i'll just put that angel of serenity on top for you." upkeep, 7 dmg, then thought scour away the angel.

Active player loses first. Otherwise draw if the ability resolves simultaneously.

This made me chuckle.
Well, the most interesting is Ball Lightning with Lifelink, but costing RRW is enough.

Not quite, but at that point you should be batting clean up.

Giant Solifuge
Burning-Tree Shaman
Rumbling Slum
Those are the cards that made me love Gruul the first time around. All this 6-8 mana stuff really doesn't make anything but a flavorful impression.
Damn. it sounds good, but is giving the opponent that card advantage acceptable?
i know, right?
