Wow, that was... a lot of Un/Commons.
Really excited for this, I think I'll enjoy it more than RTR though playing against Gruul seems like a complete nightmare in limited...
But it's not printed on the card, so it's significantly less rad.
Anyway, I'm going to be drafting a lot of Simic beatdown in this set. Two different one-drops with evolve (one of them a common, with flying!) and a super-Sidewinder Drake with trample to push through extra damage with any mono-green Bloodrush creatures I pick up, and/or trigger mono-blue Ciphered spells. Oh yes, that's exactly what I like.
There'll probably be a busted one at mythic though.
I expect a handful of potentially constructed worthy ones at rare+, I don't care about a "busted" one. I mean you have to keep the common/uncommon ones that have really good limited abilities overcosted, but there's constructed abilities that aren't so great in limited at the C/UC level.
Yup Yup. Hope there's adequate removal in this set. RTR sucked horribly at removing threats. This angel is begging to be the new showstopper in limited if we lack fundamental 'nuke critter' spells.

I mean, hell, we're all on a forum for something that most people would describe as a "children's card game"...do what makes you happy. You are never too old to enjoy yourself.
Basilica Guards seems OK in Limited. Decent body with extort.
Boros Elite might be good enough for Standard, but I don't exactly have high hopes. Maybe it could work in a hyper agressive Boros Human Aggro deck.
Murder Investigation is cool. It could be really powerful in Limited, especially in Boros if you can play a red Bloodrush creature. Might even be a little bit playable in Constructed?
Cloudfin Raptor might be OK in Limited. If you can manage to play it on turn 1, it should be able to grow to a reasonable size. Even in late game, it's not as bad as many other one-drops that see Limited play.
Gridlock has a cool name and flavor, but it's not great. Certianly no Gigadrowse, Blustersqull, or Sleep, but it's still good in Limited.
Gateway Shade seems pretty bad. I don't think I normally want to be running this.
Tin Street Market might be OK in Limited. EDH too?
Experiment One might be good enough for Standard. I suppose it could go quite well in the GB Predator Ooze deck going around or a GW Loxodon Smiter deck, and it could be superb if a Gruul Aggro deck shows up. EDIT: This is a human?? Wow, this is going to be awesome in Naya Humans.
Call of the Nightwing seems reasonable. It would be pretty awesome for 1UB, but for 2UB it might a bit slow for Limited. It's cool that you can cipher the token you make though.
Deathpact Angel doesn't seem all that great, or especially mythic-feeling. It's a 5/5 fying that's a little bit hard to kill. It's no Sigarda for sure.
Drakewing Krasis is a beast in Limited. A 3/1 flier for 3 is awesome, and it'll give a little boost to smaller evolve creatures.
Zhur-Taa Swine is amazing. A 3-mana pump spell for +5/+4 is reasonable as is, and having the option to be played as a body is ridiculous. High pick in Limited. It also makes me think that Gruul will be very good in GTC Limited.
Burning-Tree Emissary seems like it could fit somewhere, but I don't know where that is. I guess it would take a beat to be relevant in some kind of hyper aggro deck. It could also function as some sort of combo piece I suppose. Seems fine in Limited though.
Illusionist's Bracers seems like a perfect EDH card. I don't play much EDH, but I'll bet that there are a few generals that are happy to add this to their decks. It could see Standard play, but I don't know what it would be played with yet. Hellhole Flailer, Krenko, Mikaeus, Olivia, and Trostani jump out in a quick run through, but none seem like they make Bracers playable. Still, a card could be printed in any set that makes this thing crazy.
I can't wait to draft this set. I don't really see Cipher being a viable limited strategy unless there are some good unblockable critters, but Bloodrush, Evolve and Battallion all look like a blast to draft.
And once again, Simic is completely poised to make me happy
Sorry, Boros, I was worried that you would compete for my love when Battalion was revealed last week, but for now you're just the icing on the cake. The cake which is Simic.

Someday, I will own all of the dragons. All of them. 43/111, approximately 39% complete. Over a third done.
(calling it now; there will be a cycle of Legendary dual lands with Basic Land types in Theros block)

T1 Champion of the Parish
T2 Burning Tree Emmissary and Lightning Mauler attack for 7
T3 Silverblade Paladin attack for 12.. Let's not make the new standard too complicated

Standard:
N/A
Modern:
Grishoalbrand / Grixis Death's Shadow / Jeskai Control / UW Control
I like how the Cipher card puts a 1/1 flyer in then can imediately imprint onto that 1/1 flyer if you don't have someone else to do the deed.
Works like a Bitterblossom in limited if your opponent doesn't have any fliers. Pretty clever, though it will vary greatly depending on the matchup.
I'm really curious to see how playable Tin Street Market is in limited. Hard-to-destroy looting effects are very powerful, but both red guilds in GTC are highly aggressive.
EDIT: the 5/5 haste dragon that taps creatures and pings them makes alot of these cards unplayable in standard.
Yeah, those bracers will be a lovely target in EDH. I guess that is what Vandalblast is for, among other things.
Really excited for this, I think I'll enjoy it more than RTR though playing against Gruul seems like a complete nightmare in limited...

Burning-Tree Emissary says high to Manamorphose
...and then getting smacked in the face by an instant speed cipher lol.
i can say by the poicture that the boros and the dimir are new ones
And Simic, and Boros. Attacking with three creatures to make a Battalion is less painful if you're holding a Viashino Shanktail in hand, for example.

Only after 3rd turn. It seems Bloodrush is gonna cost 3, but this is for sure yet we will see but so far its all been 3.
one of the reasons i'm looking forward to playing Gruul at my prerelease.
