Two insane Commanders for EDH, two insane creatures for Standard and Limited. Keyrune will end games in Limited if there isn't a decent Instant-speed answer.
I don't understand what's so awesome about Obzedat. It doesn't dodge instant speed removal. It's a 5/5 without evasion who drains some life for 5. I can understand how dodging Supreme Verdict is good, but I don't see why that makes Obzedat great. Can someone explain it to me?
Ghost dad also screams break me and the set is not even fully revealed yet. How do you stop lifegain in this set. This is why I hate not getting to play regularly.

The only instant speed removal that really hits it are Murder and Selesnya charm and only one of those cards is actually played at the moment. At least until the rest of the set is spoiled that is.

Every turn it is going to make a 4 life swing and even swing for five on some occasions. The 2 damage will keep happening unless it is dealt with. That might be one of the reasons.
Obzedat is absurdly good. I don't think they should have given it haste if you exile it; at least then it would have required some thought as to whether you should exile it or not.

Constant free drain, 5/5 for 5, makes sorcery defenses useless, and prolly best of all, combined with extort you could easily grief and drain to a win while barely attacking.

There is buried treasure everywhere...in a graveyard.
Just sat thinking about Lazav a bit more. Will definitely run him, maybe even in Grimgrin's place. Add a touch more mill (cast Traumatize with him out...oooooh). Knowing that he will make opponent's think before dropping Buried Alive or tapping Hermit Druid is awesome. As is benefiting off of milling someone's Eldrazi Titan.
Hope he doesn't cost an arm and a leg, especially as a foil.
So Lazav is a twisted version of sakishima, the imposter. I love it! The hexproof is freaking awesome. Only bad thing is that it has to be a creature card. Tokens won't work... Oh well card still seems a whole lot of fun. Definetly one of the better clone cards since Image and Metamorph. The hexproof threw me off though. Black never had hexproof and is clearly blue. I guess since they share it is fine? I guess it is pretty on thene since Lavaz is a sneaky rogue like person who can avoid detection.
As for ghost dad... Is this one of the first instances of white actually getting haste? That is pretty damn awesome. With black/white lands perhaps a life loss deck of this, messenger and resto angel can happen. I feel sort of cheated though for RTR legends compared to these guys. Especially Isperia.

To the people that say that a card needs to be a higher rarity because of Limited... I hate you guys so much. I present to you with this.
the dimir guy is really strong, he is insane for EDH. unfortunatly standard/modern/legacy is dominated by smaller creatures and there isnt many impressive creatures to shapeshift into. and its not really worth a SB slot to side in vs decks that run huge fatties..
I can understand how dodging Supreme Verdict is good, but I don't see why that makes Obzedat great. Can someone explain it to me?
You can understand why a 5/5 that drains 2 life and gains you 2 life while dodging all current board-wipes and Sorcery-speed removal is good but you need to have it further explained to you?
Amount of white-only creatures to have haste before Ghost Council: 1 (akroma)
Amount of black-only creatures to have haste before Ghost Council: 15
I think this card would've been designed better if it didn't have haste.
You're not counting every white or black creature with Suspend.
The haste is only here as a workaround for the unusual timing of the Obzedat's flicker ability. It's less color bleed and more just using the keyword as a tool make the mechanic work as intended.

I understand he's good. I don't understand what makes him great. He might make an appearance in standard. I doubt he'll have a showing in modern or legacy. He'll probably find a home in EDH. So what's the big deal?

what instant speed removal that sees regular play kills him? Selesnya Charm? Which is in 1 deck as a 1-2 of usually. This doesn't even factor in Restoration Angel protecting it when it's in play.
That's about it. Everything else is Sorcery speed or suspect (Victim of Night being the best available, but not killing Huntmaster/Olivia/Aristocrat is a big deal)

So Obezedat basically dodges blacks best removal, every sweeper in the game, legend kill clone effects, Oblivion ring exile effects and is also resistant to soft removal because of it's huge body. In the same color as Resto angel no less, with a CIP ability. Are you kidding me wizard?

He's going to be one of the premiere 5-drops in standard post GTC. This thing has so much inherent power it's absurd.
Most people will exile Ghost Dad, which means only instant speed removal will be able to get him.
He's not around during opponents' turns. There's nothing there to clone.

Not sure how it could be designed better. White/black getting haste isn't the worst thing on the planet.
As for the Ghost Council... there has to be some sort of anti-lifegain ability, right? Because that's going to cause a lot of trouble otherwise.
Fun fact - the guy who created this card also created the useless 6 mana anti-lifegain enchantment in RTR!
This aint your girlfriends meta! This is a man's meta! TURBO META.

It might as well have hexproof.
It has haste because it's basically suspending itself.
