If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.
Thinking about Lazav more, he has the same problem as a lot of other creatures, he's good but he's no Geist of Saint Traft, and if you're going to play Lazav then why not just play the geist?
Because:
-Your not playing white.
-Your reactive deck wins in ways other than "swing"!
-You like Lazav better.
-You're not playing anything aggressive.
White/Blue control does not play Geist. Geist see's play in two specific kinds of decks, and those would be aggro, and aggro/control. He needs the support such strategies offer to get him through, because he's still only a 2/2 at first.
If your playing straight up control(either three color esper, or dimir) than Lazav is a great choice as he has more time in that scenario to find your opponent's good stuffs creature and copy it.
Ridiculous. They give B/W this hard of a push with Obzedat, after they gave U/W the middle finger with Isperia, Supreme Jank.
What's next? Reprint unmake so they get instant speed unconditional removal too?
Yeah poor Azorius, when is Wizards ever going to make it the dominant two-color combo in standard? Oh wait.
Screw the general, you got sphinx's revelation, arguably the most powerful card in standard and exactly the kind of thing that excites U/W players. If anyone should feel burned by Wizards (standard-wise) it's the golgari and izzet players: hasn't been a whole lot that has seen play from either besides abrupt decay and izzet staticaster.
Were people excited about Isperia before RtR? Yes.
Do people play Isperia post RtR? No.
Just sayin....
While some people thought Isperia was playable, I think a better example would be Rakdos, Lord of Riots where people were freaking out at how ridiculously powerful he was and how every deck would have to play him or try to beat him...

I just played a Trostani populate deck at my last GPT actually, 4x call of the conclave, centaur healer, silverblade paladin, loxodon smiter, thragtusk, mana dorks, rancor. It wasn't half bad.
So to allude to a larger point, I think it's still to early to tell. I like Firemane Avenger even though she's being thoroughly lambasted right now and plan to include her in a naya ramp deck. I think the ghost council will see play too as an alt win-con in WB tokens.
You can't be serious? Rakdos, RDW, Naya, RUG... Some of them in the side, some in the main, but it's played. I attend tournaments twice a week and there's like 60 of us. A lot of diverse and interesting decks.
Also, Dracogenius sees main deck play in RUG.
You know who has synergy with Dracogenius? Borg 2.0 Oh hey look I dealt combat damage, reveal top 3, takes lands, draw a card...crap...got another land....oh well take 3-12 damage from Borg?
All of the rules allow for your general to be moved to the command zone when he gets put into a place that would be tough to get him back from, GY, Exile, etc. I am sure one day the rules will change and include tuck effects.
You know...if we get, say a 10 card mill spell with Cipher, and you get off the hit that's 20 cards in. Now consider any creatures in those 20 cards can be copied and exploited.
As a player with no interest in U/B, this is an intimidating thought.

There is buried treasure everywhere...in a graveyard.
Well, she fails the Mortars test and in all honesty, she's just lacking.
Niv-Mizzet for an example was perfectly rated. A powerful, able-bodied finisher for control and RUG decks.
Mortars test??? When the heck has there ever been a mortars test? 4 is generally considered to be safe toughness (outside of most burn range). Mortars is not the ubiquitous removal you think it is. Now if it was 3 then yes, there is searing spear which sees VERY much play. But mortars a spearing spear is not.

This aint your girlfriends meta! This is a man's meta! TURBO META.
I feel that if Lazav sees serious play, it's gonna be trying to copy the Ghost Council lol
Obzedat with hexproof is a pretty strong Obz, being able to block safely and all that.
He would be a simple 5/5 with hexproof. It would not trigger the drain effect and if you exile it, when it return it will be a new object and no longer copying the council
why would you want Obz to block? flicker it LITERALLY EVERY CHANCE YOU GET, and drain life like a boss.
I don't get also all the fuss "omg he can't block", who cares? you can life swing for 4 AND avoid sorcery speed removal. Also BW have a very good way of getting chump blockers. And if you REALLY need a blocker (and having a blocker is more benefic than the drain), you can simply not blink it.
I use the Duels Of The Planeswalkers layout, though I'm right-handed and keep my deck and GY to the left. I dare you to ask me how tempting it is to hold flying creatures in a floating pattern over the table.
Just a thought, but do you think that Zegana will directly affect evolve? we already got a guildleader that use his/her new mechanic. Why not a second one ? Something like creature you control gain evolve.
For the spoiler of today, they are great. However, i think the ghost 1.0 is better in EDH.
Already starting an Obzedat EDH build. I was never super satisfied with Ghost Council but like the idea of a BW control heavy blink heavy build. Fun!

This is why I started playing magic in the first place. It wasn't PT aspirations just making noobs cry by doing things that are perfectly fair.
I mentioned Mizzium Mortars because of the number of them in my community of about 60-80 players. That part was mostly tied to me, however, it's been barely 3 months since the RTR came out and Mortars are seeing play in greater and greater numbers. I play both Online and on paper. The fact is, every deck that can run red is running them. Naya, American Control, RWD, Rakdos, RUG, Grixis variants... You can't deny the fact.
Yeah, uh, that's your meta, but it certainly isn't everyone else's. The card hasn't been more than a 2-of in most decks and has been a 1-of in the board in the vast majority of decks it's in. No one is choosing their creatures based on whether or not it dies to Mortars, because the card is just not that played. It's seeing play in only a couple of decks--RWU Midrange as a sideboard card for when they shift to control, and Jund Midrange because Kill All Monsters is their game plan. RDW is not playing Mortars because it doesn't target faces. RUG...what? The only common RUG decks have a betterway to keep creatures dead.
Just a thought, but do you think that Zegana will directly affect evolve? we already got a guildleader that use his/her new mechanic. Why not a second one ? Something like creature you control gain evolve.

I hope Zegana doesn't give all your creatures evolve because:
1) It's lazy design.
2) If she comes down on turn 4, it's a little late.
3) There would actually be anti synergy with evolve creatures. Any deck running Zegana would play normal costed creatures instead of evolvers.
When a card is ridiculously powerful, you can win games solely off of riding that card to victory. Even if the support cards for an archetype with that card might be a little weaker, it can be worth playing those cards just so you can maximize an extremely powerful card. This week, Gavin introduces just such a card.
I hope this doesn't mean they powering down the other Orzhov cards just because of the council's power level.
Considering I'm playing Online a lot, and seeing it everywhere, I don't think it defines the meta, but it's something that shows up and something that you can expect.
It is only in SB. Most decks that run red run Searing Spear MB since it hits most creatures (the few it doesn't is more or less safe from mortars as well like thundermaw) and searing spear can be used to take out walkers (which mortars cannot do) and can be thrown into your opponent's face.

I guess i have to read the rules then. I just thought that since it came back, entering the battlefield, it would count as a spell

Interestingly, the guild leader that sees the most Standard play is probably one of the least hyped ones. Although it is mostly sideboard play.

No one is really playing Mortars either.
Standard: W/R Aggro
No? He comes with a free built-in "extort 2". Both he and extort have the same effect: drain life. So i think we can call that synergic.
You know who has synergy with Dracogenius? Borg 2.0 Oh hey look I dealt combat damage, reveal top 3, takes lands, draw a card...crap...got another land....oh well take 3-12 damage from Borg?
Many thanks to DNC at Heroes of the Plane Studios
to be perfectly honest, Esper spirits looks pretty damn good in the new year. extort, lingering souls, midnight haunting, drogskol captain, geist of st.traft, dungeon geists are all still in the format, yo. not to mention drogskol reaver with extort abilitis, or the Dads Council.
