I don't know if this has been said, but I bet they are showing us the guild promos. The power levels are right in that sweet spot of not really being all that great outside of limited, but still exciting.

this has a lot of potential.

i wasnt expecting much from gruul but i think its promising. mostly because there could be NON CREATURE SPELLS with this keyword. i could see something like...

RG -destroy target artifact, enchantment, or flying creature. Bloodrush - 1RG - target attacking creature gets +3+3.

that might be too good, but something versatile could be possible. but im probably just kidding myself, why wizards would make good spells instead of creatures is beyond me. i just wish it was the good ol days Frown

This is not a creature. It's a three mana uncounterable pump spell.
Tantarus: It didn't make the gaka greifer level, so it should be fine

If it is only pump spells, its a more narrow Channel.

But Channel was also really really broad, like Kicker was.

I hope Bloodrush will be able to be used at Instant speed. Not being able to Scavenge as an Instant is what killed Golgari for me.

You can't use Bloodrush unless you have an attacking creature, so it can only be used at Instant speed. Well, if the rest of them work the same, that is.

Gruul are the least favorite guild of my favorite three-color combo, so I'm not sure whether I'm not excited about it because it's not for me or because it really is not that good. I'll have to ask my hardcore Gruul friend for his opinion. In a vacuum, this is a very Spike-y mechanic, since it makes you choose between two different effects, and choosing wrong might cost you the game. Too bad I'm not a Spike.

I'm guessing the basic template for Bloodrush is:

Bloodrush -- {mana}, Discard ~: Target attacking creature gets +X/+Y until end of turn (where X and Y are this card's power and toughness)

Maybe also granting abilities like trample or first strike.

Well, this card's effect has two elements: Pumping, and counting lands. Since the name "bloodrush" seems to be much more connected to pumping a creature than to counting lands, the basic template above seems like a reasonable deduction from this single example.

This. Flavorful mechanic, fits gruul nicely. And as others have mentioned we'll probably see a giant growth creature.

Actually it fits pretty well with Domri Rade. I mean now you can play almost only creatures but still have sol tricks up your sleeve.

This mechanic meshes perfectly with the Gruul decklist in Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013, which is almost entirely made up of creatures to attack with and pump spells to force through damage. Bloodrush lets a single card act in both roles.

Creatures that double as combat tricks seems very strong in Limited, and it meshes well with Evolve since this lets you run a higher creature density while still having "spells." RUG aggro looks like it could definitely be a thing in Gatecrash limited, just from knowing these two keywords.

Yanno this is actually very possible. I wouldn't be suprised if this turned out to be legit, that said I think this card is really good as just a beater. The Bloodrush part could be a game winner but even if it's not he's still an efficient beater at any turn after 3.

Unfortunately every try hard from Sacramento to Shanghai preaches from the top of their 27 lands + Mana Reflection that Tooth and Nail and Time Stretch are fine to play in the same turn but Armageddon is unfair.

As an ability word rather than a keyword, there's a lot of flexibility to Bloodrush and I'd be surprised if it just amounted to "Discard [CARDNAME]: target attacking creature gets +X/+Y where X is [CARDNAME]'s power and Y is [CARDNAME]'s toughness".

More likely it's "Discard [Cardname]: target [condition] creature gets [some ability [CARDNAME] has]", and on this particular card it amounts to a pump spell for an attacking creature because this card's shtick is its conditional power and toughness.

As a Gruul player, whether it ends up being pump only or Lands Matter only doesn't matter, the idea I can pitch dead cards in hand for an effect is always a bonus and a resourceful way to use cards.

Especially if combo'd with ways to play the graveyard.

This card particularly doesn't excite me, but like most potential prerelease/intro pack spoilers it doesn't surprise me. I'll be looking for more interesting ways to implement the mechanic.

    I'd wager it's:
Bloodrush-{cost}, Discard ~: Target attacking creature gets * until EOT.

For instance, a doublestrike critter with Bloodrush could give target attacking creature Doublestrike. There's no restriction on what it can do, but it will generally mirror the card you're discarding. This opens it up, design-wise, for interesting spells with it and effects like -2/-2 to target attacking creature.

"Bloodrush" is an awful name for a "lands matter" mechanic. Borborygmos Enraged connects to this mechanic by letting your lands act as burn to complement your creatures that are also pump spells.

I can see this rare being the end of many limited stalemates in an all out swing, pumping the unblocked attacker for the finish, or just being an ever growing bomb.

Not sure how great the card is for constructed, really no idea. But how can you not love the mechanic?!? Though I'm really not sure what Bloodrush does... Is it loosely based on the number of lands you have? Is it always a +X/+X pump or different? The fact that there isn't reminder text makes me unsure.

With Kessig Wolf Run in standard I can see Red Green Ramp/Aggro/Beatdown whatever you want to call it being a thing. You only need the toughest of tough, and then you can let this guy and KWR to do the rest of the dirty work.

Also, I don't think Bloodrush is based on lands; only for this guy because that's his regular ability and it mirrors that. I think it's likely for attacking creatures. When a creature attacks, it gets a rush of blood to the head. Has nobody else been in a fight?

P.S. on a big side note, can anyone else picture the five cards that will be spoiled this week being the five premium cards we will recieve for each guild at the Gatecrash Prerelease? I can!

The ability is vague. What does it exactly do? (I know it discards for an effect, but that is channel, right? which is not a simple mechanic - as it can cover a lot of stuff). I guess what Beware said is the most likely answer.

The mechanic makes the Domri guy more viable.

What? There's a logical connection between the words "metalcraft" and "artifacts." Why would it make any sense to connect "bloodrush" and "lands"?

Based on it being called Blood Rush, I'd assume it probably has to do with the power of the creature it's on, not always being a pump spell. Otherwise, it's a really bad Reinforce.
