To me the flavor is take the blood from the creature you are discarding it and either infusing into another creature you control, or possibly painting it onto them, granting them their strength. Very primal, very fitting for Gruul I think.
There has to be one with deathtouch that grants it to creatures.
Edit: Also just realize how well this plays with Rade, who pushes you to play heavy creature density.
Bane's Reading Suggestions David Eddings: The Belgariad, Mallorean, Elenium and Tamuli Series. The Redemption of Althalus Jim Butcher: The Codex Alera Series
The design space for Bloodrush is huge. I love the idea of being able to bin a creature to do something different and it's uncounterable. This reminds me of when they made the Umbras (auras) in RoE to try and make enchantments decently powerful, trying to help eliminate the two-for-one. Hopefully Bloodrush isn't completely restricted to combat tricks... but good stuff regardless.
As someone recently said, I don't think Bloodrush is based on number of lands at all. I think Rubblehulk is based on the number of lands. Bloodrush, however, will probably look like:
Bloodrush -- [Cost], Discard ~: Target attacking creature gets {Effect based on card being discarded}
It makes it a slightly different in some ways, but still more narrow Channel, and feels very Gruul.
This looks like a fun mechanic, promotes the GR aggro that gruul is famous for but in a new light, with creatures filling in gaps of your curve and providing efficient combat tricks on the side. I liked channel so this could be fun as well.
Sealed: 4/5. Huge size, but lacks evasion. It's secondary ability can act as a finisher very easily.
Draft: 3/5. It may be good enough to splash for, but should overall be a bit less powerful.
Constructed: 1.5/5. Shouldn't be good/consistent enough to see any play anywhere. A hair better than the Simic card though in that I could see somebody attempting to break it's pump in a ramp deck.
Like the mechanic and enjoy some of the suggested ideas for it. Don't mind the card too much. Isn't stellar but it isn't terrible, wouldn't even mind if it was the guild promo for Gruul. Just love the mechanic.
I think people are misinterpreting the Bloodrush mechanic.
Instead of it being land-matters, which I think here is attributable to the Rubblehulk rather than the mechanic, I think it has to do with affecting attacking creatures.
It is in this manner that the ability is different from Channel - not that it cares about the number of lands one controls.
Since other people are speculating on the template for the ability, I'm gonna take a guess at it:
"Bloodrush - (cost), Discard [CARDNAME]: Target attacking creature gets * until end of turn"
In any case, personally I'm a bit underwhelmed, but partly that's because, as a creature, this card kinda sucks in my opinion (at six mana, and multicolored at that, I would have hoped it would have Trample or something), and partly because I don't think this is a good mechanic for Timmy. But otherwise, I think the mechanic shows a lot of promise, and I am looking forward to seeing what other design space they dipped into for this one!
Also, I just now realized that this is the first Ability Word mechanic (as opposed to Keyword mechanic) that has been spoiled for this block. That's... interesting, considering that we already know seven mechanics from the block.

Just since I've played magic since basically the beginning, I'd be willing to go out on a limb and say it's going to be cost-discard-+x/+x. X being equal to the dicarded creature's power.
They could do more than plus PnT just like golgari could have as well. But just for a single guild ability they probably won't do it.
So far the guild's abilities have not been nearly as dynamic as the old rav block abilities. seems like they are just going on the popularity of old rav and just reprinting shocks for a whole year. Pretty lame. I guess rather than pushing the game they are just trying to play it safe. I don't care if they tried bbut messed up and had to ban a card. Progress the game and stop with lame abilities.
I wish!
Maybe Dimir or Orzhov will have some tech against this?
A U callback to Reroute that counters instead of retargeting could be fun and useful.
Or, hey... maybe just a straight up U Reroute?

Haha true that! But I think you can game over with this guy and one swing of Titan, where it usually takes two. That's a big difference in the world of magic. The point I'm getting at though is a ramp deck that would actually work! Remember GR Wolf Run? It has a shot at coming back! Haha
Bloodrush -- {mana}, Discard ~: Target attacking creature gets +X/+Y until end of turn (where X and Y are this card's power and toughness)
If I truncated the post at just this, I'd say that this wouldn't fit as an ability word. It could just be a regular keyword:
"Bloodrush [COST] ([COST], Discard ~: Target attacking creature gets +X/+Y until end of turn, where X is this card's power and Y is this card's toughness.)"
Maybe also granting abilities like trample or first strike.
Perhaps.
Well, this card's effect has two elements: Pumping, and counting lands. Since the name "bloodrush" seems to be much more connected to pumping a creature than to counting lands, the basic template above seems like a reasonable deduction from this single example.
I'm going to assume that the basic Bloodrush template has nothing to do with the number of lands a player controls. I just think that the bloodrush ability matches the spoiled card's land-number CDA.
I'm guessing that the template will be something like this:
"Bloodrush - [COST], Discard ~: [Something to do with target attacking creature]"

Ok so I believe bloodrush will work as follows, Discard (cardname) target creature gets an ability. Such as haste, hexproof, trample, or deathtouch. The abilities will be the flavor of the creature that is discarded like the spoiler.
While Rubblehulk looks to be mostly garbage, this mechanic looks great for constructed assuming it lands on some good cards. A solid three-drop with bloodrush is pretty much all I want for standard.
LP, I'm checking your article out as well. Behind all of your swag is the brain of one of the most intelligent Magic players I've ever known. I guess that's one more thing for you to add to the wall of ego that is your Sally sig.
I can go with that. LK, you are the Mace Windu of red mages...cool, tempered logic in deliberation, but capable of just flat kicking tail when the situation warrants it.

The reason for simpler mechanics in this block is because the first two sets have five new keywords each, and Dragon's Maze will have all ten of them together in a single set. If they weren't kept simple, we could easily have another Time Spiral block on our hands. The keyword and general complexity overload of that block (among other factors, to be fair) drove tournament attendance into the ground and severely hurt the success of the game. Wizards has learned its lesson about going overboard just for the sake of making things more "interesting." It takes much more skill to make an engaging and deep environment with simple tools.

This seems most likely. And this guy is simply made to be an interesting variant on KWR. I'm very interested in seeing a 4cc build in BWRG with bloodrush into reanimation. That's scary, especially with reclaim for even more shenanigans more befitting the golgari.
I guess OP wants it to be 'keyworded' like "dies" was. What word would you replace ETB with though?
When Aegis Angel is born?
When Huntmaster of the Fells arrives?
When Kitchen Sphinx lands?
When Faerie Imposter busts in?
When Dread Cacodemon pops in?
When Malfegor shows up?

Indeed it does matter! Wolf Run making a comeback would be quite nifty.
The abilities will most likely mimic the creature being discarded. This makes it limited to attackers, which is basically 100% Gruul, and also is open to more that just a power and toughness boost. You can give a guy trample, double strike, intimidate, all sorts of nonsense.
On another side note, I wish this guy had trample. I wish sooooo bad he had trample.
That way, you could cast Rubblehulk on your Rubblehulk whole you trample with your attacking Rubblehulk.

Good point, didn't think of that. Similar for Modern, since few decks run Trickbind or Voidslime.
Despite what others have said, I still don't think Domri Rade is good, and I don't think this ability changes anything about him.
