This more than makes up for radiance from the first Rav.Fits the flavor of the guild nicely and will be playable.RW wants to attack anyway, now you get bonuses for doing so.

WOut of the ground,I rise to grace...W BAfter the lights go out on you, after your worthless life is through. I will remember how you scream...B
Some people have speculated that these might be the prerelease promos, and I think that's looking very plausible... so far each one has been good enough to be strong in Limited and exciting to some casual players, but clearly aren't pushed hard enough to be the set's pack-selling Constructed all-stars. That's basically the exact level you'd want the prerelease promos to be at. I can buy that these may be them.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say they are most definitely NOT the pre-release promos; just rares with the key word. The only pre-release promo that directly mentioned the guild's keyword in RTR was Azorious, after all, and honestly the Simic one would just be BAD.
Why does everyone want to play it with tokens, when the obvious way of playing it is attacking with as many Battalion creatures as possible? The ability is very Boros, that's for sure.
As for the card, it doesn't do anything till turn 5, but when it does, it's ridiculous. It even clears the way for the attackers that might die in the red zone, making it more likely to activate on the following turns. And it gets just silly with Aurelia.
Too presumptuous as to how battalion creatures will be, I'd rather have something that reliably gives me attackers for cheap than pray my tempo doesn't get cut by removal, since this battalion effect takes over by itself. That's why they're wanting to play it with tokens.

Carnival Hellsteed.
I think this is a well-designed mechanic, I like it a lot. There's a lot of room for them to put in different effects at different rarities. Though I still want to dream of a world where I can assemble a deck that is nothing but different forms of Lightning Helix. Helix itself, Ajani Vengeant, Firemane Avenger, Balefire Liege...
The Battalion template is probably cardname and at least 2 other creatures attack, cardname does X damage to target creature or player and you gain Y life where X and Y are the creatures power/toughness.
I this they could have lowered the P/T and given this haste. I suppose that would have been risky though. I don't like how they this requires other creatures to really use effectively.
Mythic will produce two soldier tokens when ETB, mitigating it's only drawback. Calling it now.

Lycanthropy Awareness Day.
Hoping for a cure, or at least an outbreak.
Oops. My b my b. I still don't think...and honestly hope that these aren't the pre-release promos. Fathom Mage is not a limited bomb in ANY sense of the word. I think these cards are just rares with the guild mechanics on them, and while it's possible that some of them are the promos (Rubble Hulk seems like a good fit for instance) I don't think all of them will be.
...
I am disappoint
needing 3+ creatures to attack to do SOMETHING is a terrible keyword for aggro, barring 0 drops the first turn you could even use it would be t3 and thats with 3 one drops, most games itd be t4 with no interaction, so in most situations this keyword will be dead seeing as unless you are playing a goldfish or racing aggro you will be losing creatures. Aggro strategies in the current environment need single creatures that are threats all their own, not a building mechanic that will usually do nothing.
really not what I would have liked from the boros ability, much less one of our 4 drops.
flavorwise sure its great
Yeah, unfortunately, I feel the same way. Boros is my favorite guild by far, and I'm sorry, but Battalion is a stinker. Way to easy to disrupt, way to late in the game to really matter most of the time.
Man, I was really hoping they didn't screw up Boros. Hopefully we get solid Boros cards despite the poor keyword. Radiance didn't do much but we still got a lot of good Boros cards.
Looks like even Ravnica can't escape the "second set in a block sucks" curse.

The mythic is aurelia, seeing as she makes the battalion stuff trigger twice if yo creatures don't die.
Well this ability isn't my favorite but I like it seems to fit with the boros attack plan. Sadly this will get eaten by a resto without having anything else attack with it and even if it does they still trade.

Sounds reasonable. The risk isn't as high, but on the other hand, neither is the reward. Picking between the two routes is going to be a nice exercise for the Spikes.

Azorius AND Rakdos. But yes, I noticed that too; half-ish of the RtR promos had the guild keyword, whereas it looks like these all will. I can't see any reason for that to absolutely rule out these being the promos, though; it breaks the pattern set in the first set, but it's not like Wizards is going to see "Some promos don't have the guild mechanic" as an essential feature that needs to be preserved.

43/111, approximately 39% complete. Over a third done.
(calling it now; there will be a cycle of Legendary dual lands with Basic Land types in Theros block)

I'd gladly welcome Hero of Bladehold back.
Bingo. Was being tongue in cheek. Fervor would be awesome at two mana.
I'm guessing no reprint of it in that case.
Oh well, in different versions, I could find myself loving battalion.
