Anyway - on the actual topic of conversation - what cards do you guys hope are going to be in this box? My husband is pretty excited since the art looks like there will be a command tower which he is dying to put in his Angel deck. I personally hope for another cool land, but since Realms just came out I'm not holding my breath.
Cards I want to be in here (but probably won't all be printed, if any are):
1. Overwhelming Forces
2. Temporal Manipulation
3. Hua Tuo, Honored Physician
4. Grim Tutor (not likely)
5. Mana Drain (also not likely)
6. Force of Will
7. Mirri's Guile
8. Scroll Rack
Discuss.
Since people were stuck on the price/rarity earlier, I'd like to restart this discussion. None of the cards I have listed have been printed as a foil version, and I'd be excited to see them; what does everyone else think?
Ditto on Reflecting Pool. Doubling Season. Alt-art Xiaohou Dun would be nice, too. But really, as long as half of the selections are popular staples that I don't already own, I'll be happy. I think those are reasonable expectations.

I doubt they would put Mirri's Guile and Sylvan Library in here since they are really similiar in function (fixing your draws). I like Scroll Rack in here. Solid card that a lot of decks can use. I don't like Force of Will, it is just ok in EDH. I would love to see Vampiric Tutor be the black tutor (if we have one) in here. That or demonic tutor. They aren't crazy expensive, nor are they a dollar and their power is unrivaled in the tutoring world.
EDH is like French fries: some people like waffle cut, crinkle cut, or plain old straight cut, and while there's slight flavor difference and personal preference, at the end of the day they're still fries.

You have a good point about Mirri's Guile; I guess I'm just a green mage at heart. I want them to avoid printing cards in this which already have a foil printing. As a result, I went through sets without foils, and found cards which are also not on the reserved list. Honestly, I'd be happy if this was From the Vault: P3K.
Also, are there any red cards, which belong in here? I'm saddened by the lack of good options.
I would also like to see - some form of Artifact mana - some card draw - maybe an alternate art rites of flourishing or Howling Mine.
I cannot think of any red cards that would be great, but I would personally like any red pinger - cinder pyromancer, etc. - I have a Red deck that is full of pingers I like to play with occasionally.

1. Rape isn't funny - maybe you could learn some new words to express yourself.
2. Why are you yelling?
That aside - I still do not get your point. How does an expensive foil card in my deck ruin your enjoyment? It actually has no physical effect on the game other than making my deck look nicer than yours. It does not make the game less casual. Playing my foil Warren Instigator in a goblin deck did not instantly make the deck competitive because I took out the non foil version. You need to get a grip. As pointed out by multiple other people - Casual does not mean cheap - if you want to play a $20 commander deck go ahead, but it doesn't mean my deck also has to cost $20 - I play Dual lands in my deck because when I began playing Magic you could buy them/trade for them at under $10 that doesn't make me less fun than you simply because those cards cost $100 now - Casual doesn't come with a price tag.

So maybe you should stop doing it to my wallet. I take the artificial inflation of prices INCREDIBLY seriously. It IS criminal, and I'm fed up with being the victim of it. I don't give a monkey's flatulence if you like the words I use. I honestly, truly do not. They exist for a reason. And considering that both my mother and aunt were the victims of incestuous rape as children, bugger off. I know EVERY connotation of that word, and used it in full seriousness. First Amendment FTW. Don't like it, get the hell out of my country. Stop trying to step all over my rights of speech and expression. That is the ONLY adequate term to describe the decimation and desecration that I experience because of people and products like this.
I don't care if you like expensive cards. Stop berating me because I don't. Stop making MY enjoyment of the game less because you have to sit and berate me over it. The problem with the attitude of foiling and this product specifically is that it not only doesn't keep the format AVAILABLE (availability being the single most important part of enjoyment, as you can't enjoy what isn't there), it makes it LESS fun because ONLY the jerks can afford it. Casual MEANS casual. So freaking tired of the attitude of "I have to make things as expensive as possible for everyone else so only I can afford it." Keep that in competitive play. It is where it belongs.
FYI, as I've been online since the early nineties (while in elementary school) I know a thing or two about 'internet speak'. Capitalization is emphasis. Not yelling. Yelling involves misspelled words and expletives, without any form of coherency. You can apply emphasis without blowing your head off.
Wizards getting into the secondary market is also what dozens of thread posters have begged for, so it's not "no reason." Of course, if Wizards gets into the secondary market and sells their singles for a price that doesn't hurt the market, that makes them a bad business.
As far as the helvault fiasco, that's no different than the story we hear every week of 2 players walking into the store and buying a few packs. One gets all 25 cent or less cards and the other opens 2 foil walkers and chase rare X.
How is buying a pack no different than the Helvault prerelease? One is a completely random assortment of cards from a set whereas the Helvault was a hyped promotion train that got its contents leaked early disappointing anyone that heard Wizards say we would be talking about the prerelease for years to come. Then come the actual prerelease we find out that 5% of all Helvaults were valuable since they got foil everything. How is that equivalent to buying booster packs at all?
Nothing in this game is degenerate or completely dominant. They haven't banned anything in standard in a long, long time. Hell they should have banned affinity right away, but they didn't until boxed sales collapsed too. Hasbro had to come in and fire people.
I'll enjoy watching all the whiners eat crow monday.

The foiled out helvaults were sent out randomly to premium stores. Honestly, that was the sensible solution, though. Why would you sent 50 judge foils to some tiny store with a 12 player prerelease? That's probably what would have happened to all of them if they'd determined totally at random.

Don't buy the product? Wait next year for another commander set. Casual isn't only about playing, to many other people it's about having cool cards as well, and foil is "cool" in the sense that it's harder to get. I certainly wouldn't play this game if there was no value in the cards that I obtained, collector or not.

FYI - I was in elementary school 10 years before you & therefore on the internet possibly before you were born - Capitalization can be considered yelling because the amount of emphasis is left up to the reader to interpret - as you are obviously angry about something I interpret it as yelling - if you don't believe me google it - lol
I'll not be leaving the country thanks - I served it - apparently before you even got out of high school. I've earned the right to be here. Thanks!
I have now been berated by you at least twice for my personal preferences & haven't said anything about yours - maybe you could look up the term berate.
Have you considered that your rage at people who enjoy modifying their deck encroaches on their personal enjoyment? What makes your enjoyment of Magic more important than theirs? Why is only your definition of Casual the correct one? Many others in this thread have responded with their definition of casual, which you have chosen to ignore.
I'm happy to discuss this issue with you if you can keep your comments civil - otherwise don't bother responding. The topic at hand is supposed to be the contents of the Commander Arsenal & the affect of this product on my favorite format - not your rage over the price of certain cards. Feel free to take to PM if you want to keep telling me how I am personally the cause of the price inflation in MtG

I don't get what you're so angry about. The product isn't a necessity, nor is it a crime what they are charging. As far as your last point about internet speak, the tone in your posts make it seem you're yelling rather than trying to emphasize.

I'm sorry, are you arguing that stores charging about MSRP for products like this is actually illegal? Because your emphasis sure makes it seem that way. If so, you should probably...like...read a book or something.

Several points:
1. Since you have personal experience interacting with victims, I am going to assume that you understand the concept of rape culture. You should understand just how damaging trivializing rape is to victims, and society as a whole. You get to choose whether or not to buy this product, rape victims do not get such a choice.
2.The First Amendment protects you from the Federal Government (and states through the 14th Amendment) infringing your right to free expression, not individuals.
3. As much as you don't like people berating you over how you enjoy this game, I don't appreciate you berating me for how I enjoy this game. I enjoy finding hard-to-get cards, and show off to my friends, and compete with them. I don't know how that makes us jerks.
4. I have never met anyone whose intention was to "...make things as expensive as possible for everyone else so only" they "...can afford it."
5. Hyperbolic rhetoric just leads to demonizing others, and preventing us from having a useful discourse.
Don't buy the product? Wait next year for another commander set. Yeah, but the cards in the set and the limited print run will see this product disappear before any of us who want it can get the money to buy it. Plus, stores will no doubtedly sell this for triple MSRP, If there were some sort of Punishment system in place for stores that openly price gouge like that, this isn't FTV: Commander, this is a limited print run with an already jacked MSRP, stores shouldn't GET to raise the price any higher, and depending on the cards released, Commander players won't be the only ones buying this product and making sure the Commander player base won't get it. If they put even Force of Will or Wasteland in the set, Legacy players will be buying up all the copies, taking those two cards out, then selling the rest for more than they payed for the set... How fair is that? This product just isn't fair, there isn't a fair shot for everyone who wants it to get it, Even FTV had a higher print run, and it gets sold for 5X MSRP, and still everyone manages to get a copy or two, This is going to be difficult to get at MSRP.
Fact is, a lot of people just can't justify spending that much money on a casual format... Coming from my stance, I can't justify spending that on 18 cards, I hunted around locally til I could get a copy of FTV at retail (and even then, I spent less than 25 bucks on it)
Until this comes out, i'm gonna have to take a "wait and see" approach.
EDIT: on a personal note, I don't play anything in foil that "Dies to removal" ...lol
So maybe you should stop doing it to my wallet. I take the artificial inflation of prices INCREDIBLY seriously. It IS criminal, and I'm fed up with being the victim of it.
Well, that's just like your opinion, man. I highly doubt it's illegal.

Here's the thing, they aren't just for you. If you want the Command Tower that is most likely going to be in the set, you can buy it off SCG for $3. Here's the link for you. If you wanted to get a foil version of the card (at the moment, the only version is the judge foil), SCG has them for $50. Here's the link for that.
Here's the awesome part:
They both play the same.
If you have a foil card, and I don't have a foil card, yours doesn't tap for extra mana and gain you 5 life.
Isn't that fantastic? If I want to play with foil cards, and if I have the means at the fortitude to do so, I can do that. This is a collector's item, NOT, as many people here in the thread want it to be, an introduction to Commander. I've got Commander decks where I don't foil cards, and ones where I do. I don't think any less of players who don't foil out their decks; I am happy they are playing Commander in the first place.
But complaining about a collector's edition of something when there's a cheaper version out there is just silly if you're just looking to play. You shouldn't care what your cards look like if you're just "playing" instead of collecting. Stop making MY enjoyment of the game less because you have to sit and berate me over it.

You are a pretty horrible excuse for a person if you want to take advantage of your mother and aunt's experiences to demean sexual violence and attempt to hide behind the First Amendment. I really want to believe you're a troll, but I'm not sure it would make the least bit of difference as to how offensive I find this paragraph even if I knew you didn't mean it.

Honestly, aside from your appalling verbiage and sounding like a moron not deserving of the classification of the human specie, all I hear is "wahhhh! wahhh!!" Crymoarpls. I bet anything there will be an incredulous amount of interesting cards in here that I want, simply based on the spoiling of Sylvan Library. Despite this, I willingly accept the fact this product is not for me, I will not be able to realistically afford it, and will not lose a bit of sleep over it.
It's so funny when people cry about such products because of how it affects them. Grow up.
Foil Force of Will/Show and Tell pls. Foil Imperial Seal/Grim Tutor pls. Foil Ravages of War/Land Tax pls. Foil Imperial Recruiter/Sneak Attack pls. Even though I won't be buying this product because I don't want to lose my left arm, I hope it's packed with goodies so I can taste Scott Tenorman's tears. So delicious.
While this is technically replacing the PDS, the reason I'm a little disappointed about Commander's Arsenal is because (at least this year) it's replacing new commander product. Now, I'm not like, seething mad about it, because I know they'll print new stuff in the future (I really doubt they'll be like, "Oh, Arsenal worked, so let's make all Commander stuff like that"). I know commander isn't purely a casual format (far from it, in a lot of cases) and that this is more a shout-out to game stores than anything, which I'm pretty happy about, after seeing two of my LGSs go under. But I think what really gets people riled up about this is that they were expecting something akin to the commander precons, with easy MSRP's, and new, interesting cards for the format. Now, I'll be pretty happy if this product makes some cards more easily accessible on the secondary market. But that's hard to say anything about one way or the other, because very little has been spoiled so far.
Now, on the other hand, I'd just like to throw out that I really don't want to see a product stuffed head-to-tail with EDH staples. I think that would make playing paper Magic less diverse - a lot of decks in the local meta would get stuffed with cards off of R&D's top 50 list. I'd rather see new cards that can compete with old ones, and leave it to the players to obtain gems from older sets if they want to.
Just as a note, anybody saying, "If you don't want to shell out a lot of money to play this game, don't play" comes off as pretentious to me. Now, I've got a steady income and I occasionally blow a significant portion of a paycheck on MtG, but I see no reason to go to the internet and brag about it to people who don't want to pay a grand to have a good time playing the game they love. Seriously, there's a lot of class warfare going on in this game right now. Why can't we all just get along? If someone sits down at my table and throws down an Underground Sea I don't get all upset, just like I'd expect them not to get upset when their $1000 deck gets beat occasionally by the Palinchron combo I picked up for $15.
Since people were stuck on the price/rarity earlier, I'd like to restart this discussion. None of the cards I have listed have been printed as a foil version, and I'd be excited to see them; what does everyone else think?
And I would like to see something like Reflecting Pool or City of Brass.

I certainly wouldn't play this game if there was no value in the cards that I obtained, collector or not.

lol wut.
this product is obviously not for you. im sure you can find a play group that allows proxies. otherwise, this game may not be for you. also, please explain the criminality of this situation.
Wizards could put $100 bills in packs and people would complain about how they were folded.

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. Also, the thread has been going on for a while, almost arbitrarily long, so it'll be Godwin'd soon.
