To anyone who isn't thoroughly convinced that the posted arts include Sacred Foundry, Hallowed Fountain, and most likely Overgrown Tomb, please excuse me while I try to ship the shocks I have so I can upgrade (at least visually, though the originals have nostalgic value) in the very near future.
A huge anvil-shaped platform surrounded by flowing "lava" or whatever is clearly a foundry and that piece of art with a giant fountain at the center of some buildings...believe what you want, but I'm going to go ahead and call this one, official proof or not.
That's nice, just don't call it confirmation. People like to jump to those kinds of conclusions too readily around here.
Some of us would rather have a name dropped before we begin preordering our shocks.

No he's not. Sure it LOOKS like confirmation, but it's hardly such. We've been burned before, which is EXACTLY why people aren't convinced. I just HATE logging into Twitter or anywhere else and having people dance in the streets over something that is ASSUMED, and not confirmed. Then a week later people are *****ing because they bought a bunch on misleading information assuming they'd be playable in standard.
The thing that I would say that makes me lean YES, is that we've got other land art that we've seen that is pretty obviously not basics... these are new, very beautiful and thought out, so I would say LIKELY, but hardly confirmed by any means. Besides, I've shiped my shocks except Temple Gardens based on the hope they'll be reprinted... so I'm not doing any trolling outside of wanting to be 100% sure. I've been doing this since Darksteel spoilers, and I've learned some lessons since then.
Doesn't take long for people to search past rumor seasons to see the butthurting on all sides... OMG YES LEGENDARY WW ART! HORAY!!! WOOO!
But yes, that's my speculation, that they will be the playable promo at prereleases. Just makes sense, why else would they let us play with them if it wouldn't be a ballanced card for everyone? Also, we know our Game Day promos... but hmmm... no prerelease promo info yet...

Prerelease promos are rare, so no, they won't be signets or guildmages.
They said the promos would be rare, but I could see it being something like a Guildleader or Signet, that are somewhat balanced but not impressive by any means. I just think Shocks are extremely likely... I mean even if you get stuck with the "bad" guild, you still get a promo you can play with and be VERY happy.
I'm with the "this isn't confirmation" crowd; this art could easily be for new guild-lands that just harken back to the original shocklands. Anyone remember when we got the Etched Champion art before the Scars previews, and everyone "knew" it meant Etched Oracle was being reprinted? Obviously there are going to be dual lands in RtR with art that evokes the guilds "home", so of course it's going to have similar elements to the shockland art. Until we have actual card text, this is just speculation.
To me the most compelling evidence is the fact that this kind of trolling would be extremely detrimental for WotC.
In what way? If people get pissed off because they print lands that "look like they should be shock lands" who's fault would that be? The person who was running around yelling "OMG shocklands" that's who. WOTC makes cards, and just because someone makes leaps based on non-confirmed info... that's just not their fault.
The original Ravnica Block also had 3 lands for each guild, the karoos, the guildhalls and the shocks.
Yes, shocks were "for" guilds, but they weren't connected in other means (Watery Grave is not Dimir connected name and it doesn't have Dimir insignia in art) while karoos and guildhalls bore strong connection to guild.
The question would be "why super secretive guild marked its shockland with emblem while other guilds didn't".
They know perfectly well that the playerbase is going to draw this conclusion after seeing the anvil RW land. If it's not a sacred foundry, people are right to feel trolled. To me it's a clear hint but they could just be laughing at us.
I'd agree that it feels like a clear hint... however, I'm not sure if they're using that to lead us to a correct or incorrect conclusion. They do like to surprise us after all.

Nope, they don't troll for the sake of being dinks. They run a business, and it's not in their best interest to make their customers angry. Now, if these pictures turn out not to be shocks, and some other type of land instead... it's not their fault that people feel a certain way about it. If shocks don't end up in this set (I know, but it could happen), there is going to be a reason for it, and that reason won't be "OMG I CAN'T WAIT TILL THEY SEE THIS ART AND THINK IT'S A SHOCKLAND LOL!!!!"

If they didn't want to upset their players they could easily show some other piece of art instead of a picture that is sure to create shockland expectations. That WOULD be their fault.
I agree, if these are not shocklands, I'll be surprised BECAUSE they are showing them. However, it's possible, and it wouldn't be the first time, that we are very wrong and have jumped to assumptions. That is 100% not WOTCs fault, and they will tell people "we never said they were shock lands" in defense.
Let's put it this way... if they aren't shocks and it proves to be someone "trolling," the game industry takes that sort of thing seriously enough that the person would likely be repremanded. Trust me... they don't sit around a table and try to figure out how to best make people mad.

So we have some art that kind looks like the shocklands? Well this is just as good as confirmation. Look the shocklands are coming back end of story. The proof has already been given. Now its only a matter of time before they tell us we were right in assuming they are the shocklands.
The only way they can get away with these not being shocklands and also not pissing off large chunks of the playerbase is if they're better than shocklands, and shocklands are already arguably above the curve.
Sure he's a spaz, but he's also a business man. If anything, MaRo would see the pictures being used and think "oh crap, here comes the flood of hate mail when they find out that art was used on Dimir Post Office." He's the public face of R&D. Anything that can keep more silly hate mail flooding in, I'm guessing he's all for it.

Shocklands are the difference between me buying a box for "funsies" and buying three boxes as an investment. This set could be kamigawa-level slurry, but if they reprint the shocks it will still be considered a wide success.
I'd laugh if they saved the shocks for sinker and created a modern-day arabian night booster pack buying frenzy.

They may not have the shocklands, and it may be just as powerful as ravnica was due to new ideas, and cards.
Why on earth would he do that? The main purpose for MaRo, or any other WotC Staff is to sell the game, not troll its audience. Creating a hype then not delivering it would cause major stress in the public, probably plummeting the sales. So, I highly doubt they would show us artwork so similar to the ones of the original Shocks and then go "SURPRISE! Forget about the Shocks, take those super crappy lands instead! LOLOLOLOL"
