Flying typically isn't better or worse than flying. They're pretty close to even, really
I agree, though, flying vs trample depends on 1) the matchup and 2) the speed of your deck. If you need those turn 6 creatures to block fliers, then you'll want flying. If you're an aggressive deck, you might prefer trample. I think flying is typically better, but it's significantly worse against decks running lingering souls and similar.
Oh gah, way to go me, wasn't paying attention

Decks
Commander
Ezuri, Renegade Leader (Aggro/Combo - Favorite) Skullbriar, the Walking Grave (Sac and Grave hijinks) Azusa, Lost but Seeking (Landfall hijinks) Kaalia of the Vast (Heavily modded)
I'm fairly certain the Codex is uncommon and the Rig is rare, according to what slots we have left; though I don't know which one is rare, I think it's fair to assume that it's the rig.
IDK. Trample is better than flying if you get blocked but flying makes it much harder to block. I guess it depends on what the actual blockers in the format look like. If we're talking Lingering Souls (an okay candidate if you ask me) or even Midnight Haunting then trampling over them is superior. Obviously.
Trample is better than flying when you go big.
Flying is better than trample when you go small.
It really boils down to that.
If people are trading their spirit tokens for one life apiece, you are winning that game.
If they can block with bigger creatures, you might have a problem.
Feels a LOT like broodmate dragon to me. Anyone else think they're similar enough?
Through that comparison, this actually doesn't seem all that broken. Takes more colored mana, no real evasion... Although Broodmate was never legal in a format with decent blink effects

I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
How would a sorcery lead to comboing with Cackling Counterpart?
CC creates a token copy of the the wurm, with populate as an ability on the token. The newly created token wurm itself is now an edible target for its own populate effect, and can create an infinite loop of wurm tokens with populate copying themselves over and over again.

He was suggesting something similar to coursers' accord, if you haven't figured that out yet. 2GGWW Sorcery: "Put a 5/5 green wurm with trample onto the battlefield, then populate."
Shouldn't the first ability of Codex Shredder read: "Target player puts the top card of his or her library into his or her graveyard"? I remember reading MaRo's tumblr that they don't use their when describing players.

The abilities seem to be transcribed and short handed (See "sac.") That isn't a reason to discount them.

Thanks for the laugh. But really I'm excited to play this guy. Is he mythic though?

Not really, it would be unplayable if it cost more.

Might be true, but as far as I can tell, 8 mana would still have made it bonkers in Limited.
Also, who didn't see the flying U/W Keyrune coming?

Volatile Rig is janky fun haha
Always knew that Broodmate Dragon will be a pioneer/leave a lasting influence in MtG. Kudos to Jund B)

There's noooooo counterpart combo there.

The creator of Maro's Magic 8-Ball!
Also, Wurm is ridiculous power creep. Hate it already.

I think you are right. The token art for the 5/5 Wurm looks very similar to this art.
Big shout out to Megabug at Realm of the Bug Studios for the sig!
