@ FlossedBeaver.... right.... and you do know so much about me or the person that quote originated from, right.....
(I'm in a GFX team with Professional artists, and I ofcourse would know nothing about art, right?)
@ Serpos of Urug, yeah, that is also true art.... ofcourse... it might not be liked by everyone, but it is art... ^^

Sorry, but that is by far Clint Cearley's worst work. In fact, most of his work hasn't been very memorable except for the promo Priest of Urabrask, and I think that's only because it was full art.
Like someone earlier said... that "no you di-in't" finger is pretty...bad.
why does it have to be big racial insensitive comment? Why cant it be sassy battle vixen?

I fear I won't have much time to play Magic these days.
I get to watch worlds develop around me.
I get to watch great leaders, terrible oppressors, and trend setters rise and fall.
Limited, Standard, Modern, everything is a different playing field I feel I can observe, but will not actually touch.
I look forward to the stories I will hear.
And more so to the ones I will watch unfold first hand.
Isn't the unknown exciting?
If you would speak up more clearly what you mean, then there would be no confusion....
cant read into sarcasm or thing that are subtle or whatever....
(its the interwebs, cant see your expression...)
Everyone here is speaking clearly except for you. Ellipses are not a substitute for communication.
Guess it did sound pretentious, but wasnt meant to be like that... was just merely trying to get people from bashing on anything and everything...
cause everyone seems so negative about anything... if its not the card, its the art...
and all I wanted to say is, dont bash on something that you cant do yourself...
If that is pretentious, then I guess I am pretentious.. idk...
I understand you are a novice artist/designer so you feel bashed when someone says something you like is bad. Specially if you know the hard work it takes to do it. Just as everything. And everyone has right for their opinions. Instead of randomly bringing up you are involved in digital art as a hobby or maybe job, you should point out the good aspects that you think they may have missed. That way people appreciate your opinion for what it is. Otherwise you are not doing anything but ranting and claiming irrelevant knowledge. Irrelevant because you could be color blind since your comment didn't have anything constructive to say from your supposedly acute sense of color and shape.
I for one dislike this vanilla futuristic fantasy art.
and all I wanted to say is, dont bash on something that you cant do yourself...
But what do paid critics do then? (Pretty sure Ebert never made an Oscar winner)
And I dislike the electronically rendered art that has been showing up more and more. If I wanna go play video games, I'll boot up some video games. I just find it jarring when something obviously electronically rendered jumps out and starts wagging its finger at me.
I am not a novice... I am Intermediate+/Semi-Pro, just for the record....
If you know what that means even though, most likely alot here wouldnt understand what Intermediate or Semi-Pr0 would mean I would assume...
Semi-professional doesn't mean anything in the art world it doesn't mean everywhere else. It means you are paid on a part-time basis for your work, and that you are most likely less skilled or dedicated than a professional.
The structure, composition and color is all fundamentally done and done well. It is a solid piece of art. I feel some people are a bit to vigorous in expressing their opinion of it being bad.
One of the most important lessons I've learned as a professional artist/designer is there is some people that just aren't going to respect/approve of your work no matter what you do. The next most important lessons I learned is… **** 'em! Don't let that stop you form learning, practicing and evolving as an artist. Those are all situations/lessons that 100% of MTG artist have been through. While it is nice to always have an advocate for the arts; don't sweat people on forums.

That picture says it's a "ruined fresco" of Jesus. I don't think it was intended to look that way.
You may have missed the story, but it was indeed a ruined fresco that was repainted by an amateur. It was indeed intended to look that way.

I guess writing doesn't count as art, or else you'd get it.
