Those prerelease boxes look SWEET.
WAY better than Helvault...
You even get to play with your prerelease card, do you know how many new players complain about this every single pre-release? They get (in their opinion) an ubergood ubercool card, and they have to wait 6 hours to play with it at home?
This was really thought out well (or did WotC read my suggestions at the mothership forums? hmm)
I still think they are absolutely crazy not to make 10 planeswalkers (1 for each guild), but I guess with 2 large blocks with 5 guilds each, that would get out of hand (in 4-3-3 it would have worked better).
All in all RtR could be the most anticipated set ever for Magic, and if it even delivers half of its potential its going to be so good...
Also moderatedly excited for Izzet vs Golgari Duel Decks. The old Izzet with new art is half of the price of the deck anyway... maybe finally they will be fun *and* worth their money.
From the Vaults this time doesn't excite me yet. Nice cards, but not cards I normally play.
New commander products are awesome. I am curious if they finally make it a format with WotC rules backing instead of the way now...
IIRC they said that when they reprint cards in expert expansions they never use the same art.
Not exactly. It's just very very very rare. If the old art fits the flavor of the set, they might use it. It basically should like like the art was comissioned for the set.
After what I saw, I chose Golgari. Not because black was and green is my favorite color, not because B/G can deal with any kind of permanent (artifacts, enchantments, creatures, lands and PWs), and not because Golgari will get tribal support from Innistrad (half of Golgarians are zombies), but because of their flavor. I guess everyone chooses his or her favorite guild by its flavor, regardless of its playability.
Wizards, just take my money. I'm going to the RTR and Gate pre-releases no matter what. I will side with Izzet(or Rakdos...or Golgari) and I WILL be a member of the Boros Legion. Gideon! This......I could cry tears of joy.
The internet question was great. "I have a lot of questions from users about something called "shocklands", but I don't really know what those are so I'll go ahead and skip those."

Shocklands are NOT confirmed... but the "obvious-ness" of them being included was increased a million times with the announcement of the block set up. Now that we know how they WOULD handle them... it seems a much more natural fit than before.
One thing I didn't get clear, Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind is in the duel deck but NOT in RTR? (If so, it's sad since curiosity is in the format, LOL) As well as every legend, even if it's the same, is getting rehashed?
The Niv-Mizzet in RtR is going to be a new mythic rare Niv-Mizzet.
Each Guild Leader is getting a mythic rare card. So the new characters are obviously showing up for the first time anyways, but the guilds who still have the same leader are getting new versions of those characters. So we're getting a new Rakdos, new Borborygmos, new Niv-Mizzet, and new Ghost Council, as well as a new Isperia who has been upgraded to guild leader.

If they aren't reprinted they might as well close the door on Modern. The prices are starting to get close to legacy prices, or near enough to be moot.
Hyperbole much? That statement is just ridiculous. Breeding Pool and Hallowed Fountain are the most expensive Shcoks, and they are no more than $35, and that's if you buy from SCG. Underground Sea is over $100 even if you go to EBay and get played versions. The most expensive Fetch in Modern is Misty Rainforest and it goes for $20, while I believe Polluted Delta is upwards of $50 now.

Even the Shocklands are much cheaper than original dual lands and Onslaught fetchlands, the prices are rising. As each year passes without a reprint and as long as Modern is used on the PT, the shocklands will go up in price. It will be "too expensive" for some people at some point.
If you have a lot of disposable income, you might think the shocklands are not terribly expensive. But, $35 x4 = $140 for a playset of Hallowed Fountain is still a lot of money. $140 buys a lot of other things.

Show me one deck that runs a playset of any Shockland. There's almost no decks that run more than three total Shocks. You should never have to spend more than $100 if you want to get the Shocks you need to build a solid manabase. And the prices wont go up anytime soon if they're not reprinted. There are a whole lot more Shocks in circulation than old duals.
*reaches into pockets, throws change*
take it. Its not much now but invest it you bastards. Cuz there is a steady flow coming!

This great banner was made by Topher
They promised they would not take over the format, so no. All they're going to do is dupport it with more product.

And this RtR news puts me in shut up and take my money mode.

I will live a starving life for a year to draft Guilds.
Yeah, basically.
The Niv-Mizzet in the Duel Decks is Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind from Guildpact.

A new Niv will be weird, he's so iconic.
