IDW and Hasbro announced the next Magic comic coming in October. Its called Magic: The Gathering: Path of Vengeance from writer Matt Forbeck and artist Martin Coccolo.
They also said something big is coming for D&D and a new licence: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Magic: The Gathering - Path of Vengeance
Written By: Matt Forbeck
Art By: Martin Coccolo
Cover By: Dan Scott
Variant Cover by Martin Coccolo
Description: Dack Fayden returns to Ravnica! Dack knows that the malevolent Sifa Grent has something sinister planned for the city of Ravnica, but he must uncover her plot while being pursued by Rakdos cultists and Boros soldiers. Not only that, but someone from Dack's past may just put an end to the Planeswalker thief!
FC - 32 pages - $4.99
This issue includes an exclusive, alternate art playable Magic: The Gathering card!
It'd only appeal to 4chan bandwagonners and people that enjoy being publically stigmatized. It's a small yet vocal minority of the internet.
Maybe MtG:O or DotP, but not physical cards.
We're already stigmatized for playing a "children's card game" (we players know its not, but most people don't), if they crossed this with MLP we'd be forever branded as the lowest tier possible in the social ladder.

No. LARPers and Furries will ALWAYS be the lowest. We'll have to fight for 3rd.
Hoping to see some fresh playable Planeswalkers in this
Cutesy, Pony of the Damned. [1]
+1~ Each player sacrifices five minutes
of their life trying to figure out why they
are still playing a game that now includes
cards with worse names than those from
kamigawa block.
-1~ Each player sacrifices themselves. {1}

If you play MtG and you're embarrassed by it, then you are a "Closet Geek" in that you make an attempt to hide it.
MLP-bronies wildly exclaim to the world their culturally abnormal passion and then relish in the stigma and attention that comes afterwards.
Long story short: MtG players do it because they like the game; bronies do it because they like the attention.
Not because I'm against My Little Ponies, but because it means that money and resources are getting spent on things that A) Don't further the Magic Universe in ways I care about B) Aren't going towards putting Gambit and Venom in MvC3 or C) are not Gundam.
Honestly if MLP ends up having its own magic set I will feel shame. I never liked the whole bandwagon and Brony crap, so this is taking a little too far.
But this was just the Hasbro show off correct? So that MLP could be anything unless it was specifically stated to be MTG related.
Really makes you think how many people believe this means a crossover or even cross promotion. It's been pretty obvious lately Hasbro is loving the whole Brony thing and now catering partially to them, but i think we'll see the reserve list abolished long before MLP invades MTG.
Bronies seem to be a little more socially acceptable than Magic for whatever reason. On the nerd hierarchy, I like to think we're at least second to the WoW geeks though.

Here's to hoping the comic is good.
It was Hasbro and IDW. So IDW's licensed books based on Hasbro's properties. I only mentioned MLP for informational purposes.

Not sure how I feel about this
Anyway, remember to keep things respectful guys. Just because someone has a different taste in culture isn't a reason to not love and tolerate them.
I wish i had money to spend on comics, since if IDW does the same with MLP that they do with MTG, that would mean pony trading card promos. I know another certain moderator who'd go crazy for them

They mentioned all this info at Comic-con and that the link to Newsarama's coverage of that panel.
Hijacked for additional information! -TK
Also, is it supposed to still be Dack (or however you spell it)?
I keep saying, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: the Gathering, it could be Hasbro's big crossover hit.
Would love to see this. Gogo Dwarven Pony reprint.

Aren't MTG players pretty used to public stigmatization?

I'm just saying. I have no problem with this whatsoever
I like how you understand the disorder so much you lump it with criminals. Such an incredible amount of stupidity and ignorance in that post.

Don't get anxious, we're all just dicking around.

I'm actually now a little surprised Hasbro hasn't tried to force WoTC to make an MLP based game actually.

The good news is that my sister would be interested in the game, most likely.
