Kind of wishing that phoenix had some hastiness on him. And I love the new burn (new Incinerate? Meh, not complaining, looks like my burn deck'll have 8 incinerates rather than 4). Captain of the Watch means more soldiers and more white weenie decks, oh joy. I like Vampire Nocturnus being back, that guy rocks my socks. Looks like vamps get another go at being an awesome deck.
I guess I'm the only person who isn't happy to see Nocturnus. Waste of a Mythic IMO, because he was mediocre the first time around, when there were playable black vampires (Gate keeper of Malakir, Vampire Lacerator, etc) and now he's back when all of the playable vampires (Aside from Bloodline Keeper) are red and most of the playable ones cost 4+ to cast (Keeper, Falkenrath Aristocrat, Olivia Varden, etc). What a terrible time to reprint him, cause all it does is drop his value and take up a mythic slot.
Wizards did it again they gave us a gorgeous looking plains and so totally ruined it by not making it full frame art. When will wizards ever freaking learn? I want full frame art, I crave full frame art and it does this plains no justice not being full frame. I do however like that the nocturnus is back in standard thats just great and now for every one i get i can trade it due to the fact that i have my 4!! The other cards are great too, but captain of the watch? Id rather have the knight exemplar
Flames of the firebrand is NOT a good slagstorm replacement, especially with all the tokens running around and weenie.
EDIT:
also, more token spammers when ratchet is rotating out.
do they WANT tokens: the gathering?

it is a more versitile arc trail. but it's a functional reprint of arc lightning which used to be a red staple in the day bird-elves decks (angry hermit into fires)
okay I am looking at the prerelease page where it shows Nicol Borlas. But when I look at the card gallery, it's the original. Makes you wonder what the art on the prerelease page is going to be used for.
Would that mean that each color will get 39 cards?
That Way the multicolor would be starting at 195
The multicolor starts with Bolas, Blue starts with Archaeomancer. View the page source of the image gallery, they delineate color sections and use to mark each card.
Yay Vampire Nocturnus! I sold em high long ago for almost $20/each, and now I can get em for way, way less. Nice.
I like Captain of the Watch, and a functional Arc Lightning reprint will be great in this meta, and will be nice to replace Arc Trail, and for just a little while will be in there with it. But for those of us in Casual, it's great. I wish it were common, though...
Primordial Hydra is fun, but not competitive great. The Green spell... I can't even call it an Overrun variant, since it works completely differently. Not a huge fan, unless I am running a stack of Deathtouchers.
Also... was Incinerate so powerful that it needed a weakened version? Really?

Phoenix is unplayable without haste or CIP instead of hand, incinerate is now weaker than before. As if red needed a nerf . Arc lightning is nice but i still love Arc trail more (1 mana less allows for a second spell aka more presure or answer set up)
Also nocturnus buddies are all from the other side and his triple black is a nightmare. I hope there are more decent black vampires to come otherwise that lord is going to be very lonely.

Wolfir Avenger is the only time that it would ever have mattered.
It isn't a nerf. It is like calling Wrath of God >> Day of Judgment a nerf.
It is them cleaning up templating on cards.

How is it not a nerf? Wrath of God > Day of Judgement is also a nerf. The newer card is functionally different and is worse at the job of killing your opponents creatures; those extra words meant something. The difference may not come up often so I wouldn't call it a huge problem but those time it does you will certainly feel it.
Nocturnis Back, huh... well, guess the price of them will drop. I'm not hurt over it (even though I owned 4 of them & was happy to have them when others would salivatye over them).
As far as the newbies, red already looks really strong, even w/ the watered down Incinerate.
I have a 4 or less casting cost dragon deck, so I love the hatching. I will even use the mini Fireball, where as a Fireball divided up, 1 point of damage, among 3 targets would cost 6 mana.
I love the Firewong Phoenix... red needs simple recurrsion, especially w/ any deck that pitches for a purpose. I am just wondering why most of the new cards spoiled early are red? I'll just have to read the article to find out.

I'm quite sad the value of vampire nort prices will probably dip. It always seems to have an aura and mystery which separate it from other creature cards.
If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.
Pretty disappointed thus far... nerfed incinerate, Jace 3.0 (knew it was coming but still), crappy phoenix, regular clone, etc... overall not a good looking core set IMO. Hope the rest can pick up the weight left by the aforementioned stuff... (but yay Nocturnus is back!)
Maybe it means no Incinerate reprint on M13
That would be about the most hilarious Standard deck I've ever heard of. Voodoo dolls trampling across the battlefield... I love it.
