Heads up, people! We have a new card that "belongs" to a planeswalker named Lilliana. Her shade makes me think she herself will have a "swamps matter" theme like Lum saw. Think Cabal coffers, korlash, and nirkana revenant, and I don't know what else. Lilliana=Koth2.0 haha.

Im gonna agree with the above posters. i thought it was a myth, and it might not be straight shocks, but somewhere down the road the shocks WILL be in standard, or some sort of dual land with basic land types in its name.
Farseek made this a reality for me. I am a believer.
Also, 10 cards really isn't a lot people. In the Delver mirror its a HOUSE. just saying
Mill seems awesome now with jace's Phantasm, it must be a rare or mythic so it's the mill equivalent of a Serra ascendant, Talrand is still my favourite out of everything spoiled so far though...
You realise that milling your opponent to death and beating with a 5/5 are pretty exclusive strategies right? Why would a mill deck need a big dude?
And even if your whole goal was to mill your opponent just enough so that you can have your 5/5 for one mana, it still isn't really worth it imo, particularly if you are actually spending cards (like Mind Sculpt) to do so.
It doesn't. It beats delver the same way asdaybreak ranger, which is to say that it'll very rarely be effective. By the time they run out of answers to nighthawk, they will have won the game.
My first thoughts were MBC shortly after AVR, looks like M13 will give the deck back some great staples
NO! Stop doing this.
When they reprint Cabal Coffers, maybe. Until then, stop!
Also it's not like Vampire Nighthawk was ever oppressive in standard. We'll have to see what happens w/ M13 limited. I'm sure he'll be good, but I doubt people will be picking him over Kalitas, Bloodchief of Ghet-type cards unless the draft format is seriously degenerate.
Tracker is a cool design, the Beetle is a nanotech Timberland Guide, and WoTC finally puts r_e's favorite card debate to rest by printing Murder.
Dislike that Scion of the Wild was made obsolete by a white uncommon.
I wish my 4/4s with haste and first strike that acted as Goblin Warchiefs were better and didn't die to instants and overshadowed all other 4 drops in the format. And that they had evasion too, and some way to dodge wrath effects.

No. Shocks don't have to be in standard no matter how much everyone wants them. Does this new info make them likely? Yes, but I think it's more likely that we will get dual lands of a different kind that are both basic land types like you said. They will be awesome and worthy rares. Shock lands in a new ravnica block would be lazy and boring, I mean this is going to be the NEW block, so lets get some NEW memorable dual type lands. Anyone who wants shocks again was just spoiled by how desirable they are.

So a Vampire Nighthawk reprint while we have Stromkirk Captain as well? Nighthawk was scary enough, but now let's give it First Strike as well(Not to mention with a Nocturnus Boost). I can almost see why they wouldn't want to reprint doom blade with the all these strong black creatures coming back.

Every set spawns the rebirth of MBC, even if the good black cards spoiled are really aggro or midrange creatures. Some nice goodies, for sure, but let's not overreact like we usually do. MBC hasn't been around for awhile, and it probably won't come back now.

Yeah, unless the removal in this set also looks like Zendikar's (Burst Lightning, Disfigure, Blazing Torch, Torch Slinger), Nighthawk will be a lot worse than it was in Zendikar. We already know about Searing Spear, so there is hope, although Prey Upon is pretty ridiculously bad against Nighthawk....

Eeeewwwwwww...! I just noticed that. I thought this "new" card looked familiar. Heck, it's even only one white where the wild scion was two green. This new uncommon is even more splashable. Still, if running a G/W token EDH deck, you can run both!

It's better in every way once it is on the board. It gains you life, it has death touch. It can be exalted into not being destroyed in combat.
Your 3 drop can trade with your opponent's 1 drop. What a deal! Who cares about tempo anyway! If you want to use a 1BB card to kill Delver, might as well just be Murder. At least they can't just Vapor Snag a sorcery.
Tragic Slip 'trades' better with Delver than Nighthawk ever would.
Nighthawk Blocks Geist and lives, that is what it really has going for it.

Errrrr...I'm pretty sure shocks will be reprinted just so the price of those things would go down, if anything.

Sometimes boring is a perfectly fine design tactic. As much as I say that Shocks are not needed to make Modern more accessible, reprinting them does possibly help keep the costs down while also allowing for a very fun Standard environment. I'm not sure how that is lazy, even if it is boring.

Duress is a much better card against Delver. Steal their Vapor Snag before they can bounce your 3+ drop. Take that Sword that makes their guys unblockable. No more Mana Leak to counter your more expensive stuff. People see Nighthawk as a cool creature (which is it), but even so, it's not what black needed. There are plenty of 3 drops already for Black. Duress on the other hand is exceptional in that match.

On the other hand, Vampire Nighthawk!
It is a real card for sure, though.

It's also a whole 2 turns slower. Do you realize how bad answering a 1 drop with a 3 drop is?
Except it costs 3 and has 1 less power? So it's still far worse?

Actually, it might have more to do with the fact that they don't want to shell out $200 for mana bases in modern.
