Last year, the store I was in did it for 8 hours running. After each event, you could sign up for a new one. There was only one event running at a time. I think we only managed to do 4 of them, and I only made it for three. I got ~10 boosters for no cost, which was pretty nice.
Edit: The store also gave out a second pack to everyone at the end of the first round regardless, which seems different from the normal rules.

YES! Gotta love free things! Honestly, last year it was one thing that made me appreciate Magic a lot more than I already did. I had no idea Limited was so fun at the time.
This tourney sucked for me last year, the girl who sat across me pulled foil prime time and dungrove elder, stomped me, pulled garruk in her next pack, won, pulled foil solsim and in her final win got another prime time.
I wanted all those cards, I nearly cried as she pulled them. Worst was she wouldn't have beaten me if her boyfriend hadn't been helping her play our whole match, since she didn't even play magic.
Well, that said, hoping for better luck this year! fun event all around.
Yup, it's based on how long you've had your account open. I registered back around Kamigawa and got a ton of freebies.
Now I have "sold" most of it MTGO Tix and no idea what to do with them.
I've had my account since Lorwyn and got nothing. But I haven't played since Shards. Might that have something to do with it, or should I contact somebody?
I'm a little disappointed.
But the FLGS event was awesome last year and I look forward to it again this year.
Cool, free Pack Wars. I do this with my girlfriend a lot when I get prize packs from various events.
So, if you win one, how does the "adding another pack" work? Do you get to swap stuff out, and keep it at 30 cards or more, or do you add the pack and more basic lands? Or something else?
EDIT: Also, do you get to look at your pack before you shuffle up and play? That's part of the fun of the way I do it with my girlfriend is not looking before you draw your opening hand.

1. Add 3 of each basic land, remove the advertisement/token, shuffle up the pack and land, and play round 1. Don't look at the rest of the pack.
2. After R1, add in some or all of the second pack and adjust land and cards however you want, as long as the decks are 30 cards or more.
3. Repeat.

I've seen it played where the winner gets a pack, but the looser decides whether it's the pack they just lost with or a brand new pack. If they give their 'used' pack the looser gets the new pack instead!
