I can't wait for #14 (4th one in the third thread) to become an awful card, when the art is so freaking cool. Happens every time (Shadow of Doubt, for example...)
It's a game first, though, and the needs of fostering good gameplay supercede the needs of collectors. They don't both carry equal weight. The number of people who buy Magic cards just for collecting is trivial compared to the number who buy them for playing. It just doesn't make financial sense (or any kind of sense, really) to cater to a tiny subsection to the detriment of the much larger majority. Even if you narrow things down to just Legacy and Vintage formats, the numbers are still on the side of the players rather than the collectors.
there is no way they reprint THE dual lands. although it would be awesome, they break the basic rule that a land shouldn't be better than a basic land with no drawback.
Since these are on MTGO, can we assume that this is just another MTGO promo thing? I know MTGO always gets a lot of awesome reprints because it doesn't have to abide by the reprint list. What makes people think these will be paper magic reprints?
Even if these are MTGO promos, it could still signal that they're planning to print a judge promo FOW. It wouldn't be out of the question at all and has been speculated for years. I'm pretty sure I remember something about the online championship promo also becoming a judge foil last year.

That rule is very silly.
They already have drawbacks.
Nonbasic lands are limited to 4 per deck.
A mono colored deck will always be more consistent.
You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.
Alternate arts for the Cube makes sense. They probably want all the cards to be in the new border. Which means everything that was in the old border should have new artwork.

I understand your point of view, but the assertion that collectors are simply wrong categorically seems a little obnoxious to me.
Magic is a collectible card game. It is both suited for gamers and collectors alike. I happen to be both myself.

Interestingly, there also happen to be ten of them.
Those really do look like the original dual lands. There even happen to be ten of them.
Aww man, i was excited for a second :/ that's most likely it.
