I'm trying so damn hard to think of a way they could have gotten the flavor but made the card playable. Only think I'm coming up with is a Dissipation Field effect. Not that that's much better, but maybe since it would go off before damage is resolved it would be a little more playable?
Nah, probably not.
Put the mana cost to 3 and it's probably playable. Or maybe you also need to add "that creature doesn't untap during its controller's next untap step."

I'd say at GG it would be limited playable, but as it stands now it's just bad despite the awesome flavor.
Honestly, I'm a limited player mostly these days and when I talk about power level I'm generally referring to limited, and I can easily say this card is very meh. Sure it changes combat math, but it's very unpredictable and there are some rather fast decks in the format, so even if you go mono green somehow this card really isn't that great.
Loltastically sweet. This card is awesome. I'm sure itllmake the cut in some hilarious casual decks. I hope I get it at the prerelease so I can tell a dude to get lost.
I don't really see it as a bad draw most of the time. If you draw it and drop it, it's a blatant show that you can and will take away Christmas if someone messes with you.
Decks:
Standard WRath abuse BR Burning Crawler W Puresteel Humans
EDH:
Azusa, Lost but Seeking
Zirilan of the Claw
Ghost Council of Orzhova
Rosheen, the Meanderer
Vela the Night-Clad
Really though, this card would have been far more playable (i.e. not ****) at 1GG and have it bounce the creature. Or hell, make it return all attacking creatures to their owners hand, that'd make it far more interesting.
Its a huge design win and development stinker. Brilliant sort of top-down design, but development could have at least made it borderline playable- its almost absurdly bad as is. Yeah, you could try that 55 forest deck I suppose, but heck, you've got to still be alive by turn 5 to resolve it, and by then a single creature going through might kill you
The card isn't all that good, yeah. We all get it. Its not supposed to be good, it is just supposed to make you smile when you read it. It certainly does that.
Sure, but I won't smile when I open it, and generally people who draft count on the rares to be the value card, since they'll typically have handfuls of the commons and uncommons already :\
This should not have tucked the Forest. It should have fully been green's own version of Counterbalance. Then it could have been playable but it's still cool.
Exactly, you get to tuck a card for every attacking creature! Stack all the triggers and then activate the top in between.
... okay, it still sucks.
Start by making it not cost 5?
How does development cost a card like this?
"Hmm... I doubt this card is playable. At 1 mana. Or, heck. At 0 mana."
"I think you're right. Let's cost it at 5 to reaaaaally confuse people."

Still hard to pull off and requires dedicated mono green, though...
5 mana to get a chance to stop a creature from attacking once. Haha... no thank you. The card name is just about all I like about the card.
