Well said. The fact that this looks like a happy ending finally for a Magic set makes me more and more interested in it. I'll buy a lot of it just for this! I need me some hope in this game for once.
I agree with you. It's been so dark for last few sets as they reset up a swag of bad guys. I'm very keen for things to end up better and even to see a new angel legend for EDH.
I also play Weiss Schwarz, Chaos, Vanguard and Wixoss.
Weiss Schwarz Sets
Accel World, Angel Beats, Familiar of Zero, Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet, Guilty Crown, Kill La Kill, Robotics;Notes, Sword Art Online.

We're going to be having the same conversations about Avacyn's color over the next couple of months that we're having about Sorin's color right now...at least this time it's justified.
Also, I don't know much about print sheets. What does 244 cards mean for DFCs, considering there were only 15 basic lands in Innistrad?
Possibility: Avacyn was originally some dark angel being, and has returned to Innistrad restored to that state. The priests and everything weren't holding the darkness of Innistrad back with holy magic, but even darker magic that the priests simply misunderstood.
That's all presuming that angel is Avacyn. She might not be. And to someone who asked earlier, it's pronounced "AV-uh-sin", or however you'd type that out.
I'm gonna guess that this final block won't have any double faced cards. Wizards knew double faced was a gamble so like how they were worried a land based set wouldn't go over well so they changed mechanics after 2 sets I think the same is happening here after 2 sets of double faced cards Wizards is changing it up incase things had gone badly
Also explains why the draft would be separate since drafting with double faced cards was one of the most worried about things
I don't know if I buy into all this speculation. Sure, she doesn't look like the archetypal white angel (Akroma), but I think a dark plane calls for a different sort of angel.

It is possible there won't be any DFC in this stand alone set. There will likely just be new mechanics for this instead.
This seems more like a cleansing by the church so I doubt there will be many if really any horror elements in this set and a lot of double faced cards relied on that.
I don't know why everyone is thinking Innistrad is going to be a WE'RE SAVED type plane. All it means is that less humans are going to die/vampire/werewolf/etc. than before, not that they'll suddenly hit the top of the food chain.
Her absence meant they were inevitably doomed. Her return would mean they can hold their own again against that which bumps in the night. Nothing more, unless there's a plot twist coming. (Dark Ascension depending?)
Finally the "bad guys" don't take the final victory.
It's about time! After Shards, Zendikar and Scars, I, for one, welcome our new good end overlords.
Personally, I found the "bad endings" more interesting. Some of the best sets have bad endings.
Ravnica didn't turn into happy funshine land exactly, did it?
I'm partial to the complete victory of eldritch masterminds.
But I'm biased.
On another note, the expressions of the villagers seems...
off.
I am thinking that this plane will be lifted of all its ills and evils such as all the werewolves and curses running around. I dont think that good will triumph per se. I just think that Avacyn will be restored and that wizards will leave us hanging so they can revisit the plane later. She will be restored and she will help rid the plane of its ills but it could be a to be continued in another block deal
Does anyone realize that Avacyn so Vampire-like (or Vampire with wing) ?
I think Avacyn is the Vampire creator.
Or if not as MaRo suggested DKA will featured a lot of "Black" Human ala Village Cannibals
So the story will be most of the human in Innistrad has become evil, then Avacyn return to bring the Judgement Day like in classic holy bible (Book of Revelation)
Wizards print good rares, players complain about cash grab. They print underwhelming rares, players complain that the cards suck. They spoil the best cards first, players complain about the insane prices of preorders. They spoil the meh cards first, players complain that this is the worst set ever.
So. I think I understand now.
As far as these forums are concerned, WotC can never do anything good because:
Card that is new and probably good = "pushed"
Card that is new and probably bad = "EDH/casual fodder"
Card that is a reprint = "lazy"
Card that is a better version of an older card = "power creep"
Card that is a weaker version of an older card = "worthless"
I am so stoked that the final set actually has a name that doesn't indicate some type of planar calamity ala Rise of the Eldrazi, or New Phyrexia. Kinda nice to imagine that thw good guys might actually hold out.
That being said, I can only wonder if the reason Avacyn Restored is 244 cards is to try to recapture the success of Rise limited formats. Hopefully its not gimmicky and still incorporates something from Innistrad and Dark Ascension, unlike Rise.
Final note: SOM-MBS-NPH was a nightmare to draft and play, IMO. I'm hoping this fixes those last in the block woes that seems to plague limited.
As soon as I saw the art, I already knew that it was Jason Chan's art. The artist name on WotC announcement page (Michael Komarck) is wrong. Just look at the signature on the pic
I can't believe that the pic is Avacyn. I mean, I always imagine her being a savior to Innistrad, she's shining brightly with some majestic wings and shining armor, not this goth angel.
Maybe she can transform from goth to majestic angel?

I would like the story to resolve happily just as much as everyone else... Actually, I'd just like the story to resolve itself:rolleyes:
The art for Avacyn doesn't sit well with me though. If she is a presumably good angel, why all the black? I know not all "good" angels in Magic are depicted in white, but an angel who's supposed to be good in anything other than a light color sets off an alarm. In any event, the depicted art kind of reminds me a bit of Selenia, Dark Angel.

RADAMARO, FIRST TO DESIRER
UKEFNET THE MINDFULU
GSASAYA, OROCHI ASCENDANTG
MODERN
RMONO-RED ELDRAZIR
I know it's not planeswalker art, but given we may not return to this plane it's a good opportunity to make her and Griselbrand as legends.
I can see her as being a bad guy, Big Brother type, but block doesnt seem to be set up that way currently flavour wise.

Probably trapped in the Helvault, that big slab of silver in Thraben.
And Gideon is pretty much as straight a hero as we HAVE right now.

The set size (244) leads me to believe that the set will likely not contain DFCs.

Avacyn looks like a W/B angel and sorta reminds me of Serra's Plane angels. Could one of them had it to Innistrad and started the religion there?
