Quick question: Will the magic logo becomes grey on products like boxes and booster packs?, because it's yellow normally and in this announcement, well, it's grey

If there is such a thing as too much power, I have not discovered it!
Its funny how pointless this announcement is despite it being so obvious. Why couldn't they change the set size a bit to make this 4th annual core set more interesting from the get go?
Well, this was the most boring announcement I've ever seen. Literally, the most interesting part about it was the lack of color in the logo (which is actually pretty interesting). No cool gimmick to tease, no spoiler image, not even a remotely intriguing tagline...
Doug Beyer is the lead designer. Interesting. It actually makes a lot of sense to put someone from Creative in charge of design for the core set. I'm excited to see what that produces.
Introducing a new rarity: platinum rare! Colour: dark grey to distinguish them from uncommons!
There's no preview prerelease card because it's a platinum rare!
Not serious, obviously. Also, my joke works worse than I first thought since I realized that even if there was a preview picture, it'd only be the art and not the card itself.
Basically, if you want to open packs to get cards for Standard and Modern, the simpler approach is to just buy all the singles you need and then set some money on fire to make up the difference.

Nice catch. That's actually the only thing that has me excited for M13 so far.
Everyone's talking about the gold to silver shift in the logo and the lack of an art, but no one is speculating on "Face a Greater Challenge". Return of older more complicated mechanics perhaps?

I noticed that too, and probably the most interesting tidbit in the announcement. Looks like they are really serious in designing sets with flavor and mechanics together. If Innistrad as any indication, this is a very good direction, especially for a Core Set.

"Face a Greater Challenge" probably will have as much to do with M13 as "Gather Your Allies" did with M12 (not much).
Though I am intrigued by the diamond-y logo and the "Face a Greater Challenge" tagline. Perhaps a hint that this Core Set will be more complex than the previous few? (Not that "Gather Your Allies" ended up meaning anything.)
It's a little disappointing that we didn't get even a teaser art or something, but I'm still very interested to see what they do for Magic's 20th. It had better be AWESOME. :DXD

If it is the 20th anniversary, shouldn't the whole 20th anniversary thing be for Magic 2014? Considering how M13 is released in 2012 and not 2013?
Do you think we will get another card face change?
By Jove, you are correct. A little more than half of M13's legal period in Standard will occur during the year 2013, but I think your point is better taken in light of MTG's original release being at Gen Con 1993, in late summer. Put another way... it's not MTG's 20th Anniversary yet. And I'm a little put off that they appear to be ready to celebrate it as such.
I wouldn't be shocked at a slight card face refinement, but with the variations we're seeing (from DFCs to the similar Planar Chaos alts) I doubt they will make a wholesale change to it.
I'm calling it. There will be grey bordered alpha/beta reprints in the set similar to the time shifted or the hidden treasures. Wizards learned really fast from the whole lottery thing. Imagine opening a grey border Lotus. Good way to celebrate the anniversary, maintain the Reserve list, and get important old cards out there especially for the casual crowd.

Possibly to do with Magic's 20th Anniversary. Wikipedia lists the modern anniversary gift as platinum for the 20th year.
And honestly we can probably expect Platinum Angel to reappear.

M12 had a slight focus on cards that dealt with Planeswalkers at least, them being your Allies.

I am totally shocked that they would make M13, I did not see that coming.
