Can you use one of Garruk Relentless' abilities, have him flipped, and do one of Garruk Cursed abilities in the same turn? I doubt it, it would seem way too good
New Garruk is very strong, but he really feels so..all over the place. He feels very over-engineered and gimmicky. No light touch.
He puts out 2/2's, 1/1's, a Lhurgoyf pump effect, a Natural Order AND he flips during all of this. Crazy.
The Zombie card is awesome..feels like something out of the Archenemy product for some reason. I may just have to dust off the old Zombie deck during this block after all.
Okay, I promised myself I would post this if Garruk was up to expectation. Since he was:
God, why is Garruk so manly? Ever printing of him in a major set has made me want to go gay for him, or be reborn female and have his babies. (Yes, that sounds creepy. Deal with it!)
Also, they totally should've Tribal Enchantment - Zombie'd the stained-glass art. Seriously, guys. :|
QFT but unfortunately it seems alot people on this forum don't actually play magic so they'll never agree with what you're saying.
Their loss. I'm one of the more cantankerous posters here - I hate basically everything.
I LOVE Garruk. He is really, really, really good. If he isn't played heavily in standard post-rotation it will be because green is god-awful, rather like JTMS initially saw little play after WWK. If green is at all decent he will be the core of a very strong deck. Again, thank god ISD will be very heavily drafted or he would be a $60+ card.
I think I'll be using Garruk as a two of in my werewolf deck. Drop him turn 5 or 4, depending on if I played a werewolf earlier, and then just make tons of 2/2 wolves. The entire time. I don't need him for anything else, maybe if **** hits the fan flip him and use the sac -> find. He's definitely no Liliana.

The curse seems like total crap.
Its not a Natural Order - the card goes into your hand.
A 1/1 unblockable was spoiled and people crapped their pants.
This card is a card advantage generating tutoring machine that can take over games and provides a solid avenue to end them and people are underwhelmed.
Garruk is a constant stream of blockers and an easy way to remove utility creatures. If he removes a utility creatures, he quickly becomes an even better stream of blockers, a tutor, or an overrun style effect.
He looks good in Birthing Pod.dec, since he provides free blockers to slow down the foe and a way to remove their nastier 1/2 toughness stuff, plus his ultimate works with Birthing Pod better than without.
Overall, he's much better than my first impression of him implied. His oomph is all in his 0 abilities, with the other side as a nasty bonus.
Fun cards! Garruki can transform himself in two turns. Just +0 to make a 2/2 wolf, then next turn, +0 to deal 3 damage to that wolf, let it hit Garruk for 2, then he's flipped. Whether this is a good strategy or not would depend on the board state, of course. That's one CRAZY planeswalker though. And yay wolves.
I kind of like the two enchantments too. They're both very fun-looking cards. Trying to resist the urge to build a zombie deck..
But, looking at the wording, I think Garruk deals the damage and if the creature survived, it deals its damage to Garruk. Am I right?
I F#(#ing love the new Garruk so much. I'm so glad I've pre-ordered a box.
2 Questions though:
1. Since his state based effect clearly states if his loyalty is 2 or less, transform him, would that override the state based effect of if a planeswalker has 0 loyalty they go to the 'yard? cause if i'm reading that right he'll just flip when he gets bolted...?
That is not a state-based effect. It is a triggered ability. (State-based actions are things defined only in the rules. They never appear on cards.)
If Garruk goes to 0 loyalty, he is put into the graveyard. Then his triggered ability goes on the stack. When it resolves, it does nothing, because he's dead.

A neat trick though, you could Hex Parasite a counter off of Garruk, flip him, then immediately +1 him.
Wow really? I honestly never knew that. And I've been back in magic since Morningtide... I'm not surprised the situation never came up, but I never considered it. I mean, you can bolt yourself. Just seemed... possible?
There goes my idea to gutshot it, but the Hex Paraside idea is pretty nifty.
Talk about your mixed feelings on a Planeswalker. Yeah, Garuuk Relentless is interesting, but his 0 abilities seams to make him a simple target. He can only pick on 0 - 2 power creatures before picking on himself. He needs 2 or less loyalty to transform.
The Endless Ranks of the Dead looks like a blast for zombie decks, but one thing I would've liked: to be a zombie-enchantment so other cards would effect it.
The Curse of Death's Hold also looks like a great 12/3 piece sucker punch of a combo. I can see multiple copies really killing other tribal decks. Good thing it's not a legendary enchantment.

They'll learn soon enough.
1/1 hexproof unblockable for 2 is awesome though. Such a good combination.

It's not direct damage, it's fighting. Been in the green color pie for years.
Anyway. I love Garruk and all, but Endless Ranks of the Dead is outrageously awesome. Fantastic art, perfect flavor execution.

Hey, I think Invisible Stalker is nuts too.
even if he did flip, he'd still have 0 loyalty

Can't. The Rules Council voted that different colors on the other face is stopped by color identity.
